Comments: I got a little lost in the flowers for the speedpaint.
Can definitely work on better contrast.
I might like to come back and refine this one more on a WIP day!

Theme: Color Palette
Time spent: 1 1/2 hours





Comments: My friend graciously submitted her selfie for this challenge!
I had a lot of fun and feel more confident in my strokes, though I can still improve a lot on that.

Theme: Laundrymat
Time spent: Around 3 hours





Comments: I'm really trying to get better at backgrounds and visual storytelling!
This was inspired by the 24 hour laundry in my little hometown I've been wanting to draw for a while.
I'd like to come back on WIP days and fully render out this one.
Song I looped for 3 hours like a lunatic

Theme: Jellyfish
Time spent: Around 2 hours





Comments: I always thought the tripod ships from War of the Worlds looked like a Man o War jellyfish.
Practicing more with backgrounds and composition, less focused on form.
Attempting to be faster and more confident in my brush strokes.
Finding a good tempo.

Theme: Redraw an old drawing (5+ years old)
Time spent: Unsure. Maybe 2 hours?





Comments: I had a lot of fun redoing this one!
I thought about rendering it in my usual way, but decided to keep it as a lined cartoon.
I think the composition is far more interesting and thought out now.
I also swapped from 40s-50s poster inspired background to 70s because I can.
Admittedly I could have taken more time on this, but I didn't have a lot of time today!

Theme: Venus
Time spent: 35 minutes





Comments: Not feeling very good today and not a lot of free time!
Made a Sailor V (Venus) and some thumbnail studies of screenshots for composition.
I was originally going to do a repaint of a screenshot today, but it is what it is.
Not particularly exciting!

Time spent: 1 hour





Comments: Trying to see how many studies I could get done in an hour.
Working on:
-More confident strokes
-speed and tempo
-Composition study

Theme: Spirit Challenge (Part 1)
Time spent: Around 1 1/2 hrs total with design and execution




Comments: I honestly haven't drawn cartoony in so long (aside from the redraw) that it took me a little bit to get everything the way I wanted!
Forgot to mention she loves jumpsuits as well, like her favorite hero Ellen Ripley.

Anyway:
- A Transparent PNG of the sheet with no text or palettes
- A Theme Song

Don't worry about doing both sides! I just included both for the overly eager.

Comments: Had a lot of fun trying to keep the outfits and design similar to the already created artwork.
Designing outside of my comfort zone is a great exercise!

Theme: Finish/improve an earlier work from this event
Time spent: 3 hours-ish





Comments: Started rendering out the background. Pretty much from the red buttons down I worked on.
Hid the midground characters because I hadn't worked on them at all.
I wish I had more time today to work on it so I could have gotten work done on the top half.
Looking forward to next WIP day! I can feel my studies already paying off.

Comments: Sorry for the poor lighting. I'll try to scan later, but my scanner is too small for the sketchbook.
It's been a weird day.
I just grabbed weird stock photos with lemons in them from shutterstock and did sketch studies.

Theme: Genderbend Challenge: a movie character
Time spent: 1 hourish

Comments: I'm not sure how much time I'll have at the end of today, so I'm popping up my concept sketch from my sketchbook!
If I'm able to sketch out the chainsaw and more of the background on my tablet I'll update this post.
This is my general form idea and a practice of the face (including a failed attempt lol)
I've got a big soft spot for Butches.

Comments: Never drew reindeer before so did some face (and two tiny hooves) studies.
It was cute! Not a lot of time today but I liked how they turned out.
THey're little cuties.
