The woods outside of the village were not necessarily a sacred place. They were quiet, sure, and revered by some who followed nature's path. Her mother was one of those. Of course, it had been some time since she had seen her mother come out into the woods for anything. The young shinobi opened a small scroll and flipped through the pages of a notebook by her side. Crude pictures and symbols had been drawn in the dirt with a sharp stick as well, though they were more like mutated forms of kanji. The wind rustled through the trees slightly, flicking at the little undone ends of bandage at Amelia's wrists. The scroll was a simple teaching scroll, provided to Amelia by her mother, that contained instructions for the Transformation Technique. She traced the images of the hand signs on the notebook and then formed them one at a time with her own hands.
After infusing her chakra into a rock that she had placed on top of one of her dirt runes the shape of the rock changed from the dark gray, and dirty stone to a small, purple fish. "Oh! Look! I did it!" She yelped excitedly and jumped up from a criss-cross position to her knees with her hands in the air. She looked around for a moment before slinking back down and covering her mouth. The silent rustle of the leaves in the gentle breeze, and the light flapping of a fish out of water was the only response she got. Until a whisper came from the edges of the clearing she had found. "It only took you seventeen tries this time." Goosebumps crawled up her back. In her peripheral vision, there was a subtle shifting of the trees. "A fish. A fish. A fish. A fish. A fish. A fish. A fish..." The bush to her left began to chant quietly from underneath where the roots were slightly showing.
Amelia glanced quickly at the canopy of the trees as a large shadow swept over the beams of sun shining through the leaves. The girl's mismatched eyes widened cautiously as she pulled out a kunai from her tattered cloak. Her breathing quickened, and she began to pack up the scroll and her notes. She was careful, though hasty, in rolling up the dense fiber and wood slats that made up the back of the scroll before placing it back into the container she brought it in. She had forgotten that she came out here alone. To practice her skills without the judgment of the other students. Though she was typically considered overly-friendly, she found the embarrassment of failure to be more terrifying than being alone...until she remembered why she liked the distractions.
Once everything was packed up, the green-haired girl made a run for it back into the village. The success of her practice left flopping peacefully amid her frightened mind and the voices that faded into the woodline. In a puff of dust and smoke, the lonely fish was returned to its natural state as the girl who had transformed it lost focus trying to escape from the whispers of the wood.
tab Nakano had been on his way out of the village to let his bats get some fresh air and some good wind under their wings. His maroon eyes caught sight of a young girl, headed his direction, at a rather quick pace. He'd push his hand out, to catch her by the shoulder before the young girl ran headlong into his chest. Ishi and Tanji wouldn't appreciate it if their nap time against his bosom was rudely interrupted. Koumori's head tilted to one side, as he clung to Nakano's shoulder. The canine like bat would lean down even, head tilting from one side, to the other. With a small bark from his close friend, Nakano spoke up. "What's got you rushing back into the village so fast? You look like you've seen a ghost!" He'd jokingly tell Amelia, with a soft smile.

Amelia was starting to pick up speed, rushing back to the safety of the village. The voices were but a soft whisper of barely intelligible ramblings about fish and the state of rocks. As she ran she pulled her hood down over her ears, trying to stave them away; the kunai was gripped tightly in her free hand ready to strike if something came out and surprised her. At least, that was what she had thought.
In reality, she was vaguely aware of someone in front of her as she got closer to the edge of the woods. She almost made it past them until they reached out their hand and grabbed her. She slightly twisted towards her right on the slight impact and laid her shoulder into the stranger. She dropped her kunai and looked up at the boy who stopped her, slightly lifting her hood to catch a glimpse of his red hair. Without much hesitation, she immediately clung to the man's arm and squeezed. "The shadows! They want the fish!" She quickly pointed to the woodline she ran from.
A silent breeze rustled the leaves, nothing besides the natural sounds of the forest reaching their ears as the voices that only she could hear began to cease their chase.
