Not long after the attack on the Hokage's Office, Himitsu Uchiha sits quietly in a clear high up in Takijinsei Falls, awaiting the arrival of Jonin acquaintance, Mina Takatsuki.
Having arrived to the meeting grounds rather early, Himitsu sat along the edge of an embankment and silently watched the water flow by. On a whim he reached down into the current and felt the water part arounds hid fingers. For the first time, he felt the natural energy that saturates the falls. A slight shiver ran up his spine, ending with a smile across his face. Himitsu withdrew his hand dried it on his coat, then stood up to look around the area once more. Mina was supposed to be there soon, so he decided to keep an eye out. After the incident at the Hokage's Office, they'd made plans to meet up to do some training. Deciding he'd better not just stand around wide-eyed and took the time to begin some simple stretches.
A couple minutes into the Uchiha's little warmup, a soft yawn echoed through his head. "Damn. I was hoping you'd sleep all day." The yawn was immediately followed by a scoff and the slight flaring of flames. "Must you always be so rude?!" Himitsu snapped back quickly, "Look I'm not exactly used to or a fan of sharing my head with somebody I literally cannot escape!" In the back of the boy's mind, the sounds of the flames grew. "You speak to me of escape?!" In an instant Himi's frustrations were gone and he felt a pang of guilt in his gut. "That's... I... Yeah, you're right... I'm sorry." The words escaped his mouth, the telepathic nature of the conversation as was his habit. "You should be. Now. I'll be off to dig through your memories for a while." The boy's eyes widened and and mouth dropped open for a moment. "Whoa whoa whoa, hold on. Stop. You can do that? No, you can't do that. Wait don't!" A soft echoing laugh receded into Himi's mind, leaving him standing in the clearing in silent, uncomfortable realization.

“Man, I hope Himi’s gonna be okay with me being late…” Mina sighed with an exasperated face. She rubbed the back of her head, scratching an itch, as she walked back to the Falls. ‘Takejinsei…’ It was amazing how the Falls were repaired so quickly after the damage of the Jashin attack. The Senju and Chiru did a great job. They even restored the Natural Energy in the area, Mina could feel it like a light dowsing of mist. It was relaxing, even making her anxious about being late wash away. Mina idly noticed the recent ability to sense Natural Energy. She’d never been able to do that before. The red haired Jonin pursed her lips and pinched her chin thoughtfully. She didn’t have much time to consider it before she finally arrived. Himitsu Uchiha, as she expected, had arrived before her. She’d even started stretching. But as Mina approached, the Chunin stopped working and started talking to… himself? She thought that was for the case. But soon she remembered who Himitsu was.
“Hi Himitsu, Hi Matatbi.” Mina gave them both a smile and a wave. Matatabi… a name she’d been called, at least in relation to the demon itself. A ‘mini-Matatbi’ if she recalled. She wondered, just for a moment, how much of their stories were similar. And maybe that was why she didn’t seem scared or put off by the Bijuu. Mina hoped that her new found ability to sense chakra would give her some insight. Not that she was able to really control that. But, to Mina’s surprise, it delivered. From what she could tell, Matatabi’s chakra felt… familiar somehow. Like she’d known it all of her life. “I hope I didn’t keep you waiting for too long!” Mina said, allowing her thoughts to pass through without breaking the flow of conversation. “Some crows attacked my cats, and they ran off to the dump. Rounding them up was a nightmare. But thank you for coming to see me, I hope you’re both doing well.” She added with a small bow.
A voice quickly interrupted Himitsu's panic over Matatabi's mental snooping. He turned and greeted the familiar voice with a smile. "Mina! Hey! It's good to see you." A bit of color came to his cheeks, having been caught talking to himself like a crazy person. "At least she gets the jinchuuriki thing and doesn't just think I'm insane." A soft giggle echoed through his mind in response. "How do you know you aren't?"
"Because several different people are aware of this?"
"What if that's just part of the insanity?"
A long silence followed the question, during which Himitsu's mouth fell open in confusion and shock, seemingly at Mina. His mouth shut, and his brow furrowed. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
"It's just a thought." Matatabi's response was simple, matter-of-fact. She chuckled again, and seemed to Himi to settle back into her temple. Realizing he was still being weird, he composed himself again. Only a few seconds had passed since Mina arrived, but it was enough to notice the pause after his greeting. "Umm, sorry. Madame Two-Tails is in a mood today." A low snarl echoed through his mind at his sarcastic tone and he stifled a grin, just barely. "Oh, yeah, you're only a minute or two behind. I got here kind of early, but that's on me! I'd definitely rather spend a few minutes up here than literally herding cats. Or dealing with crows." The last bit of his comment came out sour while his mind drifted back to dealing with The Poisoner. Images of Mina frantically wrangling her pets wriggled in soon after though, and quickly lightened his mood again before he moved on. "No no no! Thank you for coming out here! I hope this doesn't sound bad, but, ya know... People talk, in the village. And while I tend to ignore the negative stuff I don't know to be true, I do still hear a lot of stuff. So I just kind of figured, if there was anyone around that might be able to help me with this whole Matatabi thing. I mean there's not a lot of names that come up around here tied directly to her." Of course the pair were hardly more than acquaintances, but Mina did have a certain reputation in the village. Wild rumors always surrounded people with strange circumstances, something Himitsu was learning more and more himself lately. But sometimes those rumors held nuggets of truth, and were worth talking to the source about. "Whatever stories might float around the village don't get any headspace from me. Kai always had nice things to say about you, so... you're just kind of a badass as far as I'm concerned. For whatever that's worth I guess." Himi nervously adjusted the strap that held his Summon Contract to his back for a moment. "Uhhh, so...! I thought maybe we could spar a few rounds, if you're up for it. I'd love to get a chance to actually see you fight. The middle of a riot isn't exactly the best chance to spectate."

Mina kept her smile on her face while she patiently waited for Himitsu to respond. It was an awkward silence for a few seconds, but the Jonin wasn’t sure if him and his demon were having a moment. She didn’t want to interrupt. So she waited for just the few seconds before Himitsu began to speak again. Mina didn’t know too much about the Uchiha before her. But she’d heard Kai talk, as he was prone to doing about all of his students. And it seemed like the stories held true, that the Bijuu host was a nice enough guy who seemed shy at times. Mina could understand that; she remembered feeling extremely out of place during her mission with Lahil back when the girl was a Genin. Kai was always one to gas up his students, and Mina had tried to take it to heart. Himitsu, she’d been told, had wonderful knack for Ninjutsu with a focus on Sealing. His mentor, however, was the type to make grandiose statements so she wondered just how much of it was true. And then Mina wondered just what kind of things Kai had said about her.
But then came the dropping of the other shoe. Mina could feel her smile falter, but not fade. It lasted a moment before she corrected herself, but she still felt a light stabbing in her gut. The young woman knew she shouldn’t let gossip bother her. Of course there’d be stories about New Verales aside from her own. Himitsu managed to make the air feel lighter about the whole situation, though. Mina visibly relaxed and began to laugh into her hand lightly. “You two are way too similar, you know. You and Kai, I mean. He always had a way of making people feel safe, and he made it look as easy as breathing.” Once Mina was done laughing, she placed her hands on her hips. Her expression changed from her smile to a more confident smirk.
“Sure, why not?” As the Jonin spoke, her eyes became slitted, like a cats. [Glare of the Black Cat B Rank] The green shade shifted to purple with hints of crimson around her pupils. Mina took a few steps away from HImitsu, stripping her jacket off down to her tank top. Himitsu would be able to see two things: her Curse Mark, on the curve above her right shoulder (a twisted Kanji for ‘fire’) and the scar left on her abdomen from the Poisoner. Her muscles in her arms flexed as she stretched them above her head with a grunt. She lowered her arms to her sides, palms up, as she spread her legs shoulder width apart. Small burst of fire and force would ignite along her arms, seemingly at random. It would seem like her veins were glowing orange-and red at close examination.[Second Stance-Daffodil D Rank Simple>Korabo> Landmine Stance D Rank Simple Both boosted to S+ ] “But you better give me all you got! I want to see exactly what you’re capable of! Both of you!” And, truth be told, she wanted to see how she stacked against the host of Matatabi.

This creates a heatwave mirage that looks like large cat eyes, projected about an arms length in front of her. Lasts for [4] posts. When active, this heatwave can be used as a trigger for a Genjutsu. Additionally, Genjutsu cast while this Jutsu is active requires [1] rank more of chakra to Kai from.
Second Action:
▰ Second Stance - Daffodil | Rank D>>S+ | Simple The primary defensive stance of Kyotouryuu is prepared when the user's left foot is positioned ahead of themselves with the right about one foot behind the left foot; their arms are poised at their sides, bent at the elbows with open palms facing upward. The user gains a [1] point increase in agility -or- endurance when defending from this stance per rank of the technique. This stance requires a single activation to enter, however if a technique is executed from this stance, the user may return to it for no additional cost.
Third Action:
▰ Landmine Stance [ Jirai Dachi ] | Rank D>>S+ | Simple The user separates their legs, dominant backwards, and separates their arms, hands open, to either side as if they are ready to catch something. From here, the user gains a 1 point increase in their agility or endurance when used below C Rank while granting a 2 point increase to either when used at B rank or above. In addition, from this stance, the user may expel flames from their open palms as a supplementary action that create a concussive blast that shields the user, paying chakra equal to the rank and power of the technique it is interacting with.
Hearing Mina compare him to Kai was bittersweet, but he gave a small, slightly reddened smile nonetheless. Kai was a good person after all, he just... had his troubles. Mina's acceptance to spar however expanded his smile into a wide grin. Her attitude shifted, and she tossed her jacket, ready to fight. Himitsu followed suit and shed his coat as well, wrapping it around the giant scroll of the bears before setting it aside. The Jonin's challenge got Himi's blood moving and pumped him up some. "I don't need any convincing I'm gonna have to work to keep up, and I don't think Miss Two Tails is a fan of losing." Himitsu was excited for this fight, knowing it would be a challenge and good way to really test his new skills. Matatabi would need to cooperate for him to stand a chance though.
"Alright, 'mighty Two-Tails', we're gonna need to work together here to not get smoked. Like we talked about?"
From within her mental temple, the beast would stir slightly. "Hmm? And why would I do that?"
"I thought we were on the same side here!"
"She won't kill you, and I have no interest in your pride."
"Noooo... But you've got interest in yours." He let the thought hang for just a moment. "If I lose this fight, I lose, whatever. It's training. But since the moment you got sealed in me, any fight I lose, you lose. We're a team whether you want to be on it or not."
A long sigh filled Himi's mind as the Demon relented. "Fine. I'll try to push some muscle memory from previous hosts on you to help ease you into the proper style. The rest is still on you. Don't fail us." A harsh burning rolled through the Uchiha's entire muscular system for a brief second, causing him to grimace then shake out his limbs. He bounced on his heels a couple times before letting out a breath, widening his stance, and crouching down slightly. His arms rolled around slightly before finding their proper position in front of him, fingers in a tiger-claw pattern. Once in proper form, sharp blue and black claws of flame curled out from the jinchuuriki's fingers. The flames then shot backwards up his arms, coating his body in a thin cloak of the dark, flickering flames. All along his body danced flickering blue with black and black with blue flames, not as dense or intense as his Demon Cloak, but a fair comparison nonetheless. "Don't hold back."

As the smoke from her explosion faded, Mina was greeted with visions of Himitsu being enveloped by her flames. Her eyes went wide and her blood went cold. There was no denying it; she’d just burned the Uchiha to nothing. Mina had lost control once again, and her flames ate away at Himitsu right before her eyes. What was she going to do? How was she going to break this to Kai? Oh god, Kai… he was definitely going to kill her. He’d be the first in the long line of Konoha residents asking for her head. She could feel the impossible conflict of her mind wanting to race as fast as it could, and yet not moving at the same time.
Thankfully, Himitsu’s voice pulled her from her illusion induced trauma. However, the Uchiha did so in the midst of an attack. The red haired shinobi gasped and looked down to see Himitsu attacking from her flank, occupying her personal space and leaving her little room to move properly. In her haste, Mina could only cross her arms to block the incoming impact, albeit in a sloppy fashion. [Impact Deflection C>>S Simple/Complex Overwhelming] The blow sent her careening into the air, which at least gave her a chance to catch her breath. “Guess I can’t lose focus for even a second…” Mina breathed, looking more tired than afraid about rising into the air. As she came back down, Mina spun like a top as explosive fire sent her crashing down, letting her slam her leg down on top of Himitsu with enough force to shatter the ground beneath him. It felt good to be able to at land one hit, even if Mina had still managed to guard at the last second. Himitsu didn't let her leave his focus however as she was sent skyward. It paid off as he watched her gather up chakra and descend with another attack. The Uchiha crouched and dug his chakra-coated hands into the earth then ripped up with a loud grunt, pulling up a curved layer of stone from each side of him. [ Rock Shield | Rank S | x2 ] He crossed his arms overhead and braced himself against the earth as the two stone walls overlapped and covered him. A second later, explosions sounded and the cracking of rock echoed through the falls as Mina came crashing through both layers and struck Himi. Despite his layers of protection there was still significant power in her strike, and it embedded him nearly a foot into the now loose earth as the ground around him fractured and splintered.
As his sparring partner bounded away of him, he shook out his arms, slightly sore form the impact. "What, no smart remark this time, your majesty?" Although he got no response from his bijuu, he did hear Mina speak. A tiny laugh escaped him in response to her question. "Wow, we're that obvious? I mean, we can cooperate, but it's far from what I'd call "in-sync". Usually she just leaks me chakra and yells a lot." A soft growl rumbled through his mind like distant thunder. As Himitsu gathered more and more power, Mina felt a smirk play on her face. Truly, the power of Matatabi was far greater than what the lone woman would be able to measure up to. In the back of her mind, the redhead was a little bit embarrassed to even have a moniker that compared the two. Still, she slid into a position similar to a receiving stance in volleyball, with her knees bent and her hands at her sides. As the earth shattered into rising spikes, Mina realized it wasn’t entirely correct for her to think it was just the Bijuu’s power she was fighting against. Himitsu was strong within his own right and he wasn’t gonna let the Jonin forget it either. But Mina felt confident in her own abilities, and she was going to make sure he didn’t forget it, either.
Mina swirled around the first spike, using a dodge to sling herself into the air. The spike itself managed to impale what was simply an afterimage of her. [Sidestep A>>S+ Complex] She would continue to dodge more spikes using the same method, circling around behind them even while in the air, until performing a handspring off of the last one. Her hands ignited with her scarlet Seinaru Enjo flame as she came falling back down to the ground to be met with a barrage of incoming Spirit Fire. The young woman gathered more chakra in her hands, increasing the intensity of her own fire as she did, before she met with the attack. Mina gripped the main ball of flame from the attack and rotated in the air before tossing it back at Himitsu with additional force. As she let loose the flame, an explosion shattered the relative silence of the battlefield like thunder, as force and fire extinguished them at a massive drain to her chakra. [Counter Forces S+, Explosion S Overwhelming Spiritual] She would try to use the explosion as cover for her attack as she closed the distance as fast as she could within a straight line. As the Jonin came in close to Himitsu she would crouch down and ready a fist. At the same time, the ground behind the Uchiha would burst out and a second Mina would pop from the ground! This second Mina would wrap her arms underneath Himitsu’s armpits, attempting to hold him in place as the first Mina swung her fist right into the young man’s chin! This technique gains a [1] point increase in strength per rank.

Through the field of stone spikes and blue flames, Himitsu struggled to keep up with Mina's seemingly erratic movements. The one instance he was sure he'd tracked her, she faded away, nothing but a clone or afterimage. When his orbs exploded, he got a better idea of where she'd gone. Himitsu prepared himself for an attack, and didn't have to wait long for Mina to make her move. She hadn't come from where he expected, but he'd anticipated being wrong. What he hadn't been ready for was the sudden chakra below him. His sage senses tipped him off that something was coming from below just as quickly as Mina was approaching. Not ready to take the risk, Himi made a seal with his left hand while swinging his right hand at Mina as a distraction. In a flash he swapped places with his Summoning Contract and disguised it, just before one Mina erupted to grapple her target. From the side, Himi watched the brutally explosive grab and smash of the Mina duo, and let his shoulders slump in disappointment as the disguise failed and the now-obvious scroll flew off into the sky, landing somewhere out in the distant woods. "Damn it... I'm gonna have to go find that later or Okame will kill me..."
With their battlefield broken, dusty, and on fire at certain points, Himitsu crept back in quietly in an attempt to catch Mina off guard. "Just use the flames, boy. Play with her mind. Use her fear." Despite the beast's creepy tone, she did have a point. If he was going to rely on putting her on edge, why wouldn't you attack the mind? Taking advice from a demon still felt wrong, but... Himitsu slowly stalked through the dusty, rock-strewn area toward Mina's chakra, pausing roughly 50 feet away behind one the various stone spikes. There he created a shadow clone before loudly sprinting out from his spot, perpendicular to Mina, hoping to be seen by her as he darted around spikes. While mid-dash in the open, Himi cast his genjutsu through the Spirit Fire surrounding his body, hoping to snag Mina in it for a moment. When the original Himi had cleared a fair distance, he unleashed another [ Curse of the Bakeneko [ Bakeneko no Noroi ] | Rank S | Spiritual ] at Mina, then slid to a stop and reversed directions. At the same time, the clone leapt from their first hiding spot and made a beeline for Mina, palm pointed at her with black markings across it as he attempted to smack her with a seal. [ Five Elements Seal [ Gogyou Fuuin ] | Rank A ] With two simultaneous attacks on their way, Himi took cover for a moment and watched for the result.

Mina’s eyes went wide as her blow struck Himitsu’s scroll, and not the Uchiha like she’d wanted. She let her momentum bring her to a skidding stop as her clone disappeared. He was a tricky one, she had to give him that. Much less straightforward than Kai was when she’d fought him. It was good, though. It meant he was actually using what he’d learned as a shinobi. Mina absently thought about how rare that was for her to see, but had to stow that away for a different time. She needed to stay on guard. The Jonin didn’t know what Himitsu was up to, and had to keep her senses open for an ambush. Fire rolled down her body from her shoulders, draping her like a cloth with Seinaru Enjo flame. [Curse of Retribution B Rank>>S Rank Complex Overwhelming] The battlefield was quiet while Mina’s eyes darted around the rubble, waiting for the Chunin to make his move. And soon it would come.
Mina took back what she thought about Himitsu using stealth to his advantage. His approach was comparably loud and clumsy, as he thrust at her with fire tipped fingers. The red haired Jonin shifted her stance, letting the man’s arm thrust past her as she gripped his wrist. Then she slammed her hand on top of his arm, knocking it away from her. [Iron Backhand B Rank>>S Complex Overwhelming>Korabo>Hellfire Gale S>>S+ Spiritual] It would impact just enough to deflect downward before Mina bounced her hand back up to slam her fist at Himitsu, unleashing a conical blast of explosive fire and force at the young man. [Explosion S Rank Overwhelming] The fire would funnel back, igniting the path Himitsu had taken with sparkling, crimson flame. This blaze of crimson would wash with the cerulean flames before both would burn each other out, leaving the flames to eat away at the battlefield as a bright light.
It wouldn’t be until now that Mina realized too late what had happened. The field before her had been replaced with a dark, damp cave. “Dammit.” She clicked her tongue at her own carelessness once she realized she’d been placed under Himitsu’s own illusion. She would be trapped, but far from helpless. Mina’s flames channeled her own chakra, wavering back and forth hypnotically outside of the illusion the Uchiha created. As the light from the clashing flames faded, the red haired shinobi’s own Genjutsu would begin to take effect. Much like how Himitsu’s illusion replaced the field with the cave, Mina’s replaced the falls with a wasteland. Hot and barren, Himitsu would find himself as the only person left in the wide expanse that had been baptized by the clashing flames. The only remains of Takejisei Falls being the smoldering mess he and Mina had created, littered with crimson and cerulean embers alike.
Like Mina, Himitsu would find himself alone in this wasteland. But, also like Mina, it wouldn’t be like that for long, if Himitsu were to stay trapped in her Genjutsu. [Curse of Burning Remnant, S Rank]
Within her own Genjutsu, the wind began to billow ominously through the dark cavern Mina was currently trapped in. "Call it a draw?" She called out to the darkness, hoping Himitsu would be able to hear her truce before either Genjutsu got nasty.

In addition, all strength increases the user has are converted to speed increases for the duration of this strike. When used on persons, A rank and above of this technique break skin and break bones.
▰ Hellfire Gale [ Jigoku no Hi Kyōfū ] | Rank S>>S+ A technique requiring the wind element in addition to the fire element. The user forms the required hand signs, creating six streams of flames that jettison out forty feet in a star shaped pattern surrounding the user. These flames cause tier three burns upon contact. After expelling the flames, the user manipulates the wind with an additional hand sign that causes the star shaped burst of flames to become a cyclone of flames that reaches one hundred feet in height with a forty foot base, expanding upwards as it rises. Targets caught within the burning cyclone have tier four burns applied. Both the star shaped burst and the cyclone require separate activations to evade, both at A Rank minimum.
Flames of Strength: This flame burns hotter than other traditional flames. The user's flames have the ability to create concussive blasts that either throw targets five feet per rank of the technique or can propel the user five feet per rank of the technique.

These angry and vengeful corpses will claw, bite, and drag the victim into the ground, filled with rage that the victim survived instead of them and being very vocal about this fact. Once the whatever remains of the victim are pulled into the ground, still alive despite the onslaught, the Genjutsu starts over.

Although originally eager to witness Mina's response to his barrage, Himitsu quickly covered and hid himself once more when the collision came. The explosion was blinding, quite literally, causing Himi to shield his face and rub his eyes for a moment. Panic began creeping in as his mind rapidly slid back into the time he'd been blinded and trapped with Miki in a collapsing cave, but it faded quickly when his sight began slipping back into focus. A few blinks and a cursory rub of the eyes later and he was fine.
Suddenly aware he didn't know where Mina was now, Himi peered out from around his standing rock. For a second he was confused, but the longer he looked, the bigger the pit grew in his stomach. A moment ago the two of them had been running around a busted up clearing in the forest, but now it was just Himitsu, standing on a smoldering, dried up cliff face where a waterfall once ran. His mind stopped for a moment, refusing to process what he'd clearly done. His heart started beating again, and accelerated quickly for another second more before a voice whispered to him on the eerie wind that wafted through. "Call it a draw?"
The reality of the situation struck him, and for the first time in what felt like minutes, Himitsu breathed. "I, uh... Yeah, draw. A draw sounds good." The Uchiha collected himself mentally as the barren landscape grew hotter, then made a hand seal. With a burst of chakra, he shattered the image of the landscape around him, and felt the cool misty breeze of the waterfall once again. Unsure whether Mina had gotten herself out yet or not, Himi attempted to release the genjutsu he'd cast, before taking another steadying breath and leaving his cover.
"You had me going with that, not gonna lie. I thought maybe I let Big Blue get carried away or something. Sheesh..." Himitsu found Mina and approached her, one hand on his chest, one wiping sweat from his brow. He visibly winced as Matatabi snarled loudly in his head at his ridiculous nickname. "Lighten up." The demon growled lowly, but gave no further response.
With the match over, the small patches of fire scattered about the area became more and more apparent to Himi, and time certainly wasn't shrinking them. Concerned Spirit fire might spread as easily as the Uchiha clan's signature flames, Himi flashed a few seals and swung his arms in a sideways waving motion. A moment later a short wave of water flowed up over the edge of the river and slide over their battlefield. After a few seconds, the remainer of the wave rolled back into the river or soaked into the muddy ground. "Oh, uh, sorry... That just seemed like the simple option. I guess maybe not the best one, but..." He gave a simple shrug and smiled. "So, wanna keep me company while I go search for that scroll you sent into orbit?"

Mina felt a tension in her body release as Himitsu’s Genjutsu faded. She took a moment to let the feeling of cool tranquility wash over her before she walked over to the young Chunin. The red haired Jonin wasn’t expecting the praise, however, and it stopped her in her tracks. “Aw hell, that was nothing.” Mina chuckled as a small blush crept on her cheeks, her hand rubbing the back of her head. “I’ve had a lot of time to fine tune myself, and find out what works for me. It’s just all experience. I’m sure, in time, you’ll shoot so far past me that I won’t even be a speck in your rearview mirror.” Kai really knew how to train his students. Sumika had been impressive as a puppeteer, and Himitsu hadn’t been short on surprises, either. Part of Mina knew that some of it had to be because he was a demon host, but she didn’t want to chalk it up to just that. He was smart, and extremely resourceful.
However, after Himitsu had voiced his concerns about letting Matabi accidentally rampage, Mina felt a twinge of regret for the Genjutsu she’d picked. “Yeah, I uh. I get it.” She said after a long second. “I’m of the opinion that fire takes the most discipline to wield, especially because fire users tend to be… passionate, we’ll say. Trying to stay calm and collected doesn’t come easily to people like that, so it can be the hardest to balance.” Mina let out a sigh before giving the Uchiha a soft smile, with her hand placed on her hip. “It was something I had to learn the hard way when I was younger.” New Verales felt like a dream these days, but it wasn’t like the ghosts had stopped haunting Mina. But she also wasn’t paralyzed by the fear of it, like she used to be. She tried to move forward, and do what she could to atone for it. It wouldn’t be enough, but she supposed it was a start.
“But I don’t think you should live in fear of the power you have, Himitsu.” Mina smiled and flicked her wrist, creating an ember of sparkling, crimson and gold fire in her palm. The small blaze shone in Mina’s eyes, and the warmth it gave off would be soothing even from where Himitsu stood. “Fire can be used for a lot of good, too. Humans have formed homes and families thanks to fire. It’s a helpful thing, and just because it can be weaponized doesn’t detract from that. Much like humans themselves, I suppose.” Mina watched as her fire disappeared, remembering the speech Kai had told her so long ago. It was thanks to him she’d gotten over her own fear of fire, something she was grateful for every day. The best thing she could do was try to pay that forward to his students. However, after a second of thinking, a look of surprise came on Mina’s face as she was pulled back to reality. “Oh, sorry for rambling like that! I just got kinda lost for a bit. The point that I’m trying to make is that, if you need any help, feel free to find me. I’ll do what I can. For both of you.”
Around the same time Himitsu took a survey of the sparring field, Mina did the same, finally noticing the remote bits of fire scattered around. She had to mentally prepare herself for an effort of exertion that she wasn’t particularly ready for. But then the Uchiha just flashed a quick sign and suddenly the field was, more or less, good as new. Mina was astounded that, even after all that, he still had so much chakra to spare to fix their damage. The Uchiha expressed that maybe the quick fix wasn’t the best fix. Mina looked around for a second. “NahI’msureit’sfinelet’sgo.” She suddenly answered, waving away his concerns while she ushered him away from the spot to go look for his scroll.
Mina had no idea where the giant contract had gone and, once they started to look, began searching through some bushes. “So, uh. Tell me about yourself, Himitsu. What’s it like being a Chunin and all that?”
