Seventh Year's Defense Against the Dark Arts class is held at 10:00am on Mondays and Wednesdays Located on Hogwarts' third floor is the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. The room is bright with the curtains of the large windows always open. The windows themselves will sometimes be open depending on the weather. The classroom is light on decor, Professor Monroe preferring to have as much open space as possible. However there are a few mementos including his diploma, a few vintage newspapers, and even an American flag hanging tucked in one of the corners. At the head of the classroom there is a desk, though Professor Monroe rarely sits and when he does it's usually on top of the desk. Next to the desk is a chalkboard he uses while teaching. Off to the side there is another smaller chalkboard with the word Rules underlined. There is only one thing beneath it; "I trust you, just don't be an idiot."Professor Monroe's office is situated above the classroom and is almost always open in case students need anything.

Jack was finishing up the last few things he needed for the lesson, his ears tuned to the thumping from a locked case sitting at the front of the classroom. He had his seventh years next, which meant a review. Which, for him, meant boggarts. Teaching Riddikulus fell to the other Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and he’d honestly been a little sad about that his first year so he’d decided to add it to his review rotation. Overcoming a boggart was overcoming fear. That was the most important thing he could teach in this class.
“Everyone come in and take a seat!” He called as the students entered. He waited until all the students were seated and quiet, a bit of him enjoying the ominous nature of the thumping. “Now, I imagine you can all guess what’s in that case and you should also know how to defend against them.” He scanned the class when his eyes landed on Noah he smiled.
“Mr. Braybrooke,” There was something he enjoyed about using Noah's chosen name. Jack had never met Noah's father, but he didn’t like him. Matthew was a great guy. Of course, he couldn't be too, he was about to be a little mean to his nephew. "You can start us off." Jack flicked his wand and the case flew open.

There's no need to complicate it Dress it up or overstate it Without too much hesitation Here's the way I feel

Noah had been to a grand total of one class in his seventh year so far and he was already stressed. He was hoping Jack would go easy on him for their first class of the year, but as he moved into the classroom and heard an ominous thumping he had a feeling he’d be disappointed. And the ever so slightly smug look on Jack’s face seemed to seal his fate. Noah took his normal seat and found his eyes fixing on the thumping case, one word coming to his head. Boggart.
Sure he knew how to defend against them, it didn’t mean he liked it. Then Noah heard his name called. It took every bit of self-control not to roll his eyes. Sneak. “If you say so,” he muttered.
He gave a nod and stood up. He positioned himself in front of the case and gave his uncle a look. With a flick of Jack’s wand, the case flew open. A dark wisp came from the case, and then a second later Noah stood there looking at…himself. But it wasn’t quite him. He was older, his face covered in an unkempt beard, his hair ragged. The green eyes looking back at Noah were wild and yet, strangely empty. The worst part was, he was covered in blood, and Noah had a sinking suspicion that it was not his. The doppelganger raised the wand in his hand and made a slow step toward Noah. In turn, Noah raised his wand and let out, “Riddikulus!”
The image in front of him shifted. It was no longer him, but instead, his father Levi wearing a dress from the 1950s that Noah’s mother owned, complete with a pillbox hat and a string of pearls. Noah let out a laugh. He’d look rather fetching if he just wore it with a little more confidence.
“Alright, everyone else, line up behind Noah! Let’s do it!” Jack called, winking at Noah.

I can't seem to focus And you don't seem to notice I'm not here I'm just a mirror You check your complexion To find your reflection's all alone I had to go ⚝Ꮜɴꮻꮁꮁꮖꮯꮖꭺꮮ Ꭲꮃꮖɴ ⚝Ꭱꭺꮩꭼɴꮯꮮꭺꮃ Ꮪꭼꮩꭼɴꭲꮋ Ꮍꭼꭺꭱ ⚝Ꮲꭺꭱꭺ🇳ꮻꭱꮇꭺꮮ Ꮖ🇳ꮩꭼꮪꭲꮖꮐꭺꭲꮻꭱ ✿◉●•◦Ruth knew that logically, it had been a good idea to continue with defense past her owls but as she walked into class and zeroed in on the thumping case near the front, she wanted to kick past her straight in the face. She knew this had been coming and that it would more than likely be part of the NEWT but knowing and seeing-or rather doing-were few and far between. She gave a ragged sigh as she took her seat and autonomously began taking out a notebook and pen even though she had a feeling there'd be no use for it. And she was pretty much correct, unfortunately. Just moments after everyone was in and seated the professor began basically saying what they had all been thinking and before she could even blink, he'd called out Noah and ask for him to start what she was sure to be a very emotional morning. When Noah went up and unlocked the case, a haunted almost gaunt looking older man came out. She was too far back to notice much more but did see it begin to raise it's wand which thankfully, the other teen changed before it could do much. Now a new man, less horrific, was in its place wearing an old fashioned gown and jewelry.
Ruth smiled at the sight which then dropped as she heard Professor Monroe mention to them to line up after Noah. She was slow to rise and walk over but it apparently was moot since all too soon it was her turn in front of the case. The teen held her breath as her mum came out talking in gibberish, her usually sparkling eyes were now cold and hard and her hands twitched in front of her. She could feel her heart thumping harder and faster in her ears and her breath quicken as the woman kept getting louder and louder, she nearly raised her hands to cover her ears before remembering and spotting her wand in her hand.
"R-riddikulus!" Her lackluster spell caused nothing to happen except for her NotMum to become angrier and raise a hand towards her. "Riddikulus!" Ruth said louder her image clear in her mind. Instead of her NotMum yelling, her NotMum was in the shimmeriest version of a Peter Pan costume, complete with felt hat and tights, singing and pirouetting around her throwing glitter in the air. She laughed as the glitter rain down on her before removing herself from the line and hoping her heartrate would return to normal any time soon.
'Cause I, I'm in love With my future Can't wait to meet her And I (I), I'm in love But not with anybody else Just wanna get to know myself
