Does inspiration really play a big role in an artwork?
Where and how does one obtain it ? Is it possible to even create/obtain one?

Share your inspiration! Who knows... what inspires you, might inspire others to do great things!

well in my case inspiration is almost everything...

if i don't have an inspiration and try to do something (anything from photos to drawings) it comes out crap... sad

where do i get one?
hmm... everywhere and nowhere - depends, sometimes i get ideas from the simplest everyday things (someone/something on the street), and somedays my brain is just like a middle of a desert - empty and dry...

how do i get it?
books - more then other media xp ; people on the streets - trying to think up a story what they are doing here, where are they going and so on , making them belivable and yet as original as i can; same thing with objects - twisting the point of view, like "what would an alien think seeing this?" xp ; oh and don't forget making "my version" of something - not very original but helps in training skils and helps gain some more expierience... - if something is good learn from it and make simmilar and not exactly the opposite... xd

i think trainning imagination greatly helps getting inspired...
"my mind is my power not my skills" - heh i wish biggrin

My favourite place to get inspiration is from other's works. It may seem like stealing a style, but it may inspire you to broaden your style horizons and try something different.

Magazines help too, they're loaded with things that are very design-oriented.

in my opinion any artwork/design is at least 99% inspiration. without it your work is just mediocre and as a designer that's not good enough.

i've found inspiration is easier to come by if you're not consciously thinking about it. some of the best ideas just kind of 'happen;' maybe while you're talking to a friend about something, or looking at mundane every day objects. maybe you hear/mishear something interesting.

when i do get inspiration it's usually from some bizarre thing i see or just looking at what other artists are doing. paying attention to what you find aesthetically pleasing, what designs are successful, which ones aren't. keep it all filed away in your mind for later use.

Inspiration plays a huuuuuuuuge role in artwork. Who wants to do something if they're not inspired? Even if that inspiration happens to be money wink

Besides money, I'm mainly inspired by other people's work. Not that I necessarily want to produce work exactly the way they do, but I become jealous of their talent and want to improve my skills too. Colour schemes also inspire me; if I see an ad with a design or colour scheme I like, I'll take it home and use the ideas in a website or something. My current journal site (which is down due to bandwidth issues xp ) was inspired by a pair of dangly earrings.

Inspiration also comes from movies, cartoons and anime I guess... I recently watched 'The House of Flying Daggers' and am now drawing a blind swordgirl who moves like a dancer xd

insperation comes from everything and without insperation there would be no artwork.

Personaly I enjoy looking at other's artwork that I appreciate. I also find insperation from designs that I think are horrible. I've had it a few times where I'll make a design based on a dream I had that night. I'll wake up at 3am and open my laptop or notepad and go to town. I did an advertisment for one company where I was inspired by water running down my arm in the shower. You never know when you'll be inspired, it just happens randomly.

I find alot of inspiration can come from nature. I find some things about it strikingly beautiful, and it makes me want to create something.

For webdesign, I usually like to look at the work of others... aethereality.net and day dream designs are a couple of my favorite design sites.
