Wi-Fi is wireless internet, the means by which the Nintendo DS can play games online. Don't need to apologize, it's a perfectly legit question. Welcome to the cult mate.

Wi-Fi stands for Wireless Fidelty. It is a widely accepted wireless digital communication standard. Also known as IEEE 802.11, Wi-Fi is mainly used for two-way communication between consumer electronics such as PC's, Laptops, Cell phones, PocketPC's, Handheld gaming devices and the like. Wi-Fi does not mean wireless internet, but one could be connected to the internet using a Wi-Fi network.
