I started listening to the more mainstream punk/emo/variously labelled bands a few years ago and it just opened everything else up to me I guess.

My brother's always been really good at finding good bands... and since he always listened to them, I was always around that kind of music. Then I started to go to local shows on my own and that's what really hooked me I guess.

My friend Katie is majorly into the emo scene. I am not so much in comparison; she likes an band with eyeliner and an acoustic guitar. Frankly, I find a lot of emo bands that are mainstream to be annoying. For example I cannot stand Fall Out Boy but bands like The Cure and Depeche Mode I find are very good.

I have always had a broad range in music. When I got into the whole punk thing after my obsession with green day faded a lil I started to listen to fall out boy. Then It just went from there. I started listening to a lot of emo and indie music....

To tell you the truth, what led me to emo started out very lame and poseruish. But, I'll tell you anyway.
Okay. My friend liked Simple Plan. Then I liked them. And then she liked green day. So I liked them. So I met this kid who liked Green Day and MCR. So she converted me to My Chemical romance.
So, durring my MCR period I met lots of kids who also liked From First to Last. FFTL started me on to screamo. end of that story.
Okay. So I was at this kid's site. And on it, was playing "We Are Nowhere and It's Now" by Bright Eyes. It made me cry the first time (I don't know why, but I have the tendancy to cry durring random songs.) So I just kept going to her site to listen to that song. Then I realized I needed more. Bright Eyes led to The Scene Aesthetic eek
Then I started listening to older 'emo' bands.
But mostly I was affected by my friends and suggestions on the 'net.
