I've gotten a couple of guide written up thus far that I'll post here sometime. I need to get back on the ball with writing them up since I've been kind of slack lately.
Anyways... it's safe to say I'm probably the best player here whee (not trying to talk trash or down anybody... but I don't see anybody here that I know of from tournaments, and trust me, there is no such thing as "top level players that don't attend tournaments." I've been doing this for almost 5 years now). whatever....I suck
If you're actually looking to get good at Tekken, feel free to ask me for help on anything. If you could be so kind though as to give me an idea of your current level of play.
ie: moves/set-ups you like to use and why, who you're better with, who you think the best/worst is and why, etc.
Note that that isn't a questionnaire, but an example of what you can tell me to give me better insight to how I should address questions smile dramallama dramallama rofl

Somebody saying they "just play for fun," is another way of saying, "I suck and don't really want to try and get any better." True, but everyone (or almost) wants to get better when they play, but it doesn't mean they want to be the best. I want to get better but I don't wanna be the best. about help with Tekken: any info on weaknesses of certain characters and things you use to take advantage of those??

You need to be much, much more specific on that question. Such as what character you're using, what character they are, etc. There's way too many answers otherwise. Though not everyone plays to be the best, they do play for "fun." Every single time I've heard somebody say, "I just play for fun," they use it as an excuse for being garbage at the game. It implies that people that play to be good at the game don't play for fun. That's ridiculous.

You know, this was just to ask Icege, who happens to be competition-friendly player, a few tips on how to imrpove their own game in any way. Not just a way for saying, "H4#4 u T43K T3KK3N 2 SEER5LY!!!11" That and the fact that saying, "I just play for fun," is most of the time just an excuse for saying that you suck at (insert topic of entertainment here).
For example, I can't play Texas Holdem for s**t. I have a crappy game face. But I don't go, "I only play for fun, so I don't play TH 24/7," and look down upon those who do nothing but eat, sleep and s**t Texas Holdem. I know they are far more advanced than I am and that cards isn't my best skill, but I still don't just go, "No need to be the best," because being great at a game like TH or Tekken can score some big bucks (obviously TH tables pays a helluva lot more than Tekken tourneys, but it's a slightly similar topic) and can make you hold a big name in the Tekken competition world.
With that being said, Icege, I enquire to know a slight peiece of information: Next to Devil Jin, who in DR is considered Top Tier?

Once I get Tekken: DR, i write up a guide on Jin Kazama for both tekken 5 and Dark ressurection. Yeah I mastered him in like less then an hour. And hes a hard person to master, not to mention how to use him. To me he probably has the weakest power, and not much low attacks, his high and mid combos makes him powerful, and the Coarpse thrust gives him a good edge. With good movement hands (left hand) you can deliver some combos that can deal more damage then any other character (except cheap a** Paul Pheonix :0) and has one of the strongest specials and some defensive moves. If you know some vital combos, you have the edge, if its against the wall, if your lucky on what move to use you may end up beating the person in seconds while he still at the wall o.O Good advantage against: Marduk, Jack-5 at times, and some others I forgot Bad against: Nina Williams, Steve Fox, Paul Pheonix (cause of his cheapness that renders Jin sometimes powerless :0) 1 tip I can give: do not stop attacking and use any moment you can. If they enemy is running at you or your not fast enough, use quick interception attacks like left kick+forward/any kick (left kick in DR)/ simple pumches and such. heres one combo all Jin Masters must know: knee kick the enemy into the air/ thrust uppercut punch/etc, do a simple combo with left the right punch, then use the savage sword by down right, right punch twice then right kick once.
yeah lots of info isnt it? this isnt even half of what I know ;3
and tokyo, why not go further then hard? practise alot and be like me, who plays Ultra hard xD can anyone do it? and Tekken needs a harder mode then very hard or ultra hard T.T too dam easy! litterally

Icege You need to be much, much more specific on that question. Such as what character you're using, what character they are, etc. There's way too many answers otherwise. ok well I'm gunna pick a few characters I find hard to beat, if you can suggest their weaknesses..erm... Kuma - once kuma gets to about...5th Dan level I can't beat him sweatdrop Anna HeiHachi - again, at about 4th Dan level I can't beat him either sweatdrop The characters I use most often are Hwoarang, Lee, Raven and Feng, so do you know any ways I can use those characters to get at the weaknesses of the ones I listed above? The characters I have trouble using but would like to be able to get more of a hang of are Julia, Lei and Ling, so have you got any tips for those? and also, a more important question cause it's buggin the hell out of me sweatdrop xp ...in Devil Within...how on earth do you beat the boss in the stage that comes after beating ogre? I don't even know how to get to the boss to kill it, it's just a floating light sweatdrop

TOKYO: Child, you're trash. I guarantee it. What part of NC are you in? I'm in Charleston, and do not mind driving up to an NC tournament just to get a chunk of your cash. CPU difficulty means d**k. You don't win money playing the CPU. You win money playing people.
You also seem to have missed entirely that entire bit on "fun." We're all playing for the fun of it. Some of us just aren't content being mediocre at things we do. I, personally, want to do well at anything and everything I do. It has nothing to do with being the best. It has to deal with the fact that I don't half-a** anything, on top of me being competitive. So take that, "I'm just chill," garbage and stuff it. "I play casually," is a much, much better way of putting things.
Finally, if you play just casually, then you have no business being here and trying to shoot your mouth off. Again, STFU and GTFO kthxbai.
MoonSoo: Heihachi is regarded as #2 behind Devil Jin. Kazuya is currently a debatable, but a majority agree on him being #3. Whether or not he'd be classified as top, or between top and upper mid is the debate.
Gackt: It is impossible to "master" anything in less than an hour. Let alone, it's nearly impossible to "master" anything. Be very careful with your choice of words. Mastering does not mean you found some nifty combos and can do all his moves. What are his best juggles? What are juggles you would do for oki? What are his main punishers? Can you EWGF? Can you wavedash? Can you wavedash in to EWGF? Why is WS+2 so good? etc etc.
If you don't know the answer to all of those, which are basic Tekken knowledge, then you need to get back into training mode.
Jin's solid as sin because of his safe poking strings.
He does NOT have an advantage against Marduk or Jack-5. He does, however, have problems vs. Nina and Steve (in 5.0 at least).
He has no problems with Paul.
You also don't want to be on constant offense either. You'll get smoked.
Your combo also, is not a true combo. It doesn't work. It's not guaranteed. The opponent can tech roll it.
EndlessDark: Again... you're being very, very vague. What exactly from those characters is giving you problems? There's way too many things I can talk about. Also, against the computer, all you have to do is block and use some safe string all the time. That's why the computer, at any level of difficulty, is complete garbage.
I also have no idea what you're capable of with any of the characters. I've got a hunch, but it's not enough. I need exacts. smile
Don't waste your time with Devil Within. If you really want to play it, check out the FAQ on GameFAQs.
