Hello, I'm Dally. I'm new and this is the first thing I would like to say. <3

I don't think there is an increasing population of emo kids, I believe that there has just been a flourish of scene kids.

See it is hard to find the minority anymore where a person dresses in the way of emo fashion and has the attitude of the emo sterio-type (<---Sterio-type is an icky word, but it is what we have come down to.)
Then there is a kid who dresses like everyone else but has a hardcore, emotional center.

Now, we have scene kids. They are probably some of the nicest people ever but they really only follow a trend and the set of rules placed on the genre. Some may like the music but some just do it for the fun of following a trend and as soon as it's over they will be back on their way. Basically,
emo=a genre of music.
scene= a conforming trend.
Just how it goes.

Don't get me wrong, I love bright colours and I loved the clothes before they became scene clothes but it has just gotten way out of hand. . .
There is no more individuality now.
It really, really sucks.
So kids, just don't go asking around on "how to dress emo" (there are plenty of spoofs on the internet if you really need it.) Just be yourself. So cliche, but true.

What do you think?

Here is a wicked song that is exactly what I'm talking about:

"ADMIT IT!" - SAY ANYTHING

Admit it!
Despite your pseudo-bohemian appearance
And vaguely leftist doctrine of beliefs
You know nothing about art or sex
That you couldn’t read in any trendy New York underground fashion magazine
Prototypical non-conformist
You are a vacuous soldier of the thrift store Gestapo
You adhere to a set of standards and tastes
That appear to be determined by an unseen panel of hipster judges (bullshit)
Giving a thumbs up or thumbs down to incoming and outgoing trends and styles of music and art
Go analog baby, you’re so post-modern
You’re diving face forward into a antiquated path
It’s disgusting, its offensive, don’t stick your nose up at me

Yeah, what do you have to say for yourself
Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah
Yeah, what do you have to say for yourself
Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah

You spend your time sitting in circles with your friends
Pontificating to each other
Forever competing for that one moment of self-aggrandizing glory
In which you hog the intellectual spotlight
Holding dominion over the entire shallow pointless conversation
Oh, we’re not worthy
When you walk by a group of quote-unquote normal people
You chuckle to yourself patting yourself on the back as you scoff
It's the same superiority complex
Shared by the high school jocks who made your life a living hell
And makes you a slave to the competitive capitalist dogma
You spend every moment of your waking life bitching about

Yeah, what do you have to say for yourself
Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah
And I say yeah, what do you have to say for yourself
Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah

Cause I’m proud of my life and the things that I have done
Proud of myself and the loner I’ve become
You’re free to whine, it will not get you far
I do just fine, my car and my guitar

Proud of my life and the things that I have done
Proud of myself and the loner I’ve become
You’re free to whine, it will not get you far
I do just fine, my car and my guitar, yeah

Well let me tell you this, I am shamelessly self-involved
I spend hours in front of the mirror, making my hair elegantly disheveled
I worry about how this album will sell
Because I believe it will determine the amount of sex I will have in the future
I self medicate with drugs and alcohol to treat my extreme social anxiety

You are a faker (admit it)
You are a fraud (admit it)
Yeah, you’re living a lie (hey) living a lie (hey) you’re life is living a lie
You don’t impress me (admit it)
You don’t intimidate me (admit it)
Why don’t you bow down, get on the ground, walk this ******** plank (yeah!)

Yeah, what do you have to say for yourself
Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah
And I say yeah (what do you..)

Proud of my life and the things that I have done
Proud of myself and the loner I’ve become
You’re free to whine, it will not get you far
I do just fine, my car and my..
Guitar, guitar go!

I drift drift drift drift drift yeah
I drift drift drift drift drift yeah oh

And I am done with this
I wanna taste the breeze of every great city
My car and my guitar
My car and my guitar
So you'll come to be, made of these, urges unfulfilled
Oh no no no no no
When I'm dead I'll rest
When I'm dead I'll rest way still
When I'm dead I'll rest, I'll rest
When I'm dead I'll rest, I'll rest
When I'm dead I'll rest, I'll rest
When I'm dead I'll rest, I'll rest

Too long, I'll read it later, can you post a summery of what your saying?

It's hard to say. =X If I summarize people may get my ideas mixed.
The reason it probably looks so long is because of the lyrics. The rest (that isn't in bold) takes like five seconds.

I still strongly believe they aren't the same. . .
I haven't heard Scene being used as a sterio-type until recently.

Right, well this is how I see it.. who cares? People dress how they wana dress, and people act how they wanna act. You can't judge a majority of people, but a few stereotypes.

There are too many scene kids at my school. Not even just scene emo, just about everyone whose "gangsta" at my school is scene (you frickin idiot scene gangstas at my school. You ain't gansta, you don't know what hood is. You've lived here in Florida all your life! I lived in southeast D.C., they found a dead 12 year-old kid in a dumpster at my old school. That's hood you idiots! And its not a good thing!).

Anyway, I have the "orginal emo attitude" before it became "scene." I wrote poetry, listen to emo bands, like the emo fashion all before it became a fad (I don't wear current emo fashion, btw, I wear sweatervests and ties cool )! And people at my school are really killing it. It's not even cool anymore......

Wow, my post are always long......

PS: What is bumping?

Did you know the war in Iraq is being faught in Iraq? What other obvious facts will you point out? Saying you were "Emo" before the fad caught on is stupid, that's just another way of saying you dressed like a retard before everyone else did.

"emo" and scene kid is the same.

No, it's very different.

I suppose so. Still, it doesn't matter anymore. Not to me, anyway. I don't even care anymore about them....just gonna stick to my books and science lessons, get a scholarship, join the Air Force.

scene is just the happyer version of emo. :]
also along with the happy, its full of bright colors and also a part of the worlds pop. of vegans/vegetarans and also most of America's straightxedge followers.

It's the same thing if your ideals are
on the basis that MCR is emo and Alexisonfire is OMG THE GREATEST BAND EVVVVER and OMG I NEED BIG PLASTIC BEADS AND SNAKE BITES!

=/

And the word 'scene' has been used since before emo became a stereotype.

Now it's just a way for kids who hate emo because it's the trendy thing to do to have a stereotype that offends them less.

Ya. there are ALOT of "gangsta" kids at my school. we grew up in a small town where there is no "getto" they think their life is so hard. they dont even know what hard really is. there are kids dying of starvation and kids that are being forced to kill other kids. most of them are rich and their parents buy EVERYTHING they want. it really makes me mad.

i dont actully know. sorry.
