This game totally rocks, but it takes a little explaining on how it works.
This is a game that feels kinda like "Yatzee!", but instead of winning when you do the title move, you lose your turn...
... it's still a fun word to say. ^^;

I learned how to play this at a New Year's Eve party, and I thought it was great, so now I'm sharing it with you.

Hope you all love it as much as I do!

>> Farkle Rules <<

Requires: 6 - 6 sided dice ( and a method of keeping score )

How to Play:

Each player must score 750 points in one turn to 'get on the board'. If a player 'farkles' before reaching 750 their turn is over and they pass the dice to the next player.
Once a player has gotten on the board they can quit at any time during their turn, regardless of how many points they score during that turn.
Play to 10,000. Once someone scores 10,000 (or more) the remaining players have one last turn.
There are ways you can vary the game at this point. If someone beats the original player who reached 10,000, they can be declared the winner, or if you want to continue playing, let each player have one more turn, each time anyone beats the high scorer.

How to Score:

Players begin by rolling all 6 ( 6 sided ) dice. In order not to 'farkle' each roll in a turn must come up with something that 'counts'. Scoring dice are set aside and contribute their score for that turn. If a player decides to continue rolling during their turn they use the remaining dice. If at any time 'all' the dice produce points the player has the option to begin again with all six dice. This still counts as one turn and should they 'farkle' (roll and come up with nothing that scores) they will lose any points accumulated during that turn. Once points are recorded they cannot be lost.

What counts:

All six dice the same......................1,500*
A straight (1 through 6)..................1,500*
Three 1s..........................................1,000*
(One) 1................................................100
(Five) 5..................................................50
* These must be rolled together... not in separate rolls.

3 of any number in one roll equals that number times 100 (except ones - they equal 1,000) i.e.
Three 2s.........................................200
Three 3s.........................................300
Three 4s.........................................400
Three 5s........................................500
Three 6s.......................................600

Have fun, play fair and take a risk now and then!

<< Farkle! -- Thread Edition! >>

Okay! Here's how we're going to do this!

As people come in, start playing as though you're the only one playing. As people come in to play, I'll be grouping you into 'games'... these are the people you'll be trying to beat! *evil grin*

1. Follow the Farkle game rules in the post above
2. Keep track of your turns! (you're going to have to edit your posts to do this properly)
3. Don't lose your marbles dice! (edit your post to say which ones you're keeping and how many you plan to roll)
4. Have fun!

I might edit these rules as needed... I know this is a new game to most/all of you. ^^;

I'm going to use a color code for this explanation:
Green = What I rolled
Indigo = Explaining
Orange = What dice I keep

On this first roll, you can see that I rolled: 5, 2, 2, 2, 5, 4.
When you roll three-of-a-kind in one roll, it gives you x00 points, meaning since I rolled three 2s, I get 200 points for those dice. Now I get to decide between keeping the other two 'scoring' dice and rolling my remaining one die, or just keeping my three 2s and rolling my remaining three dice.
**I use number words to explain how many dice, and numerals to explain the value rolled on them.**

I will just keep my three 2s and roll my remaining three dice.
**In order to keep this explanation to one post, I will be rolling my remaining turns with dice at home. The actual game here will be played with post dice rolls only!**

Keeping 2, 2, 2.

Rolled: 1, 5, 4

Well, this isn't much better than what I had before, but I must keep atleast one die with a value that 'counts' to continue rolling. I will keep my 1 and roll my remaining two dice.

Keeping 1.

Rolled: 1, 5.

Well, lucky for me, both of these dice 'count' so now I get to roll all six dice again! Since my cumulative score so far is only 450 (200 + 100 + 150) I must continue rolling until I get 750 this turn, or else my next turn starts from 0. This is probably the hardest part of the game, called "getting on the board."

Keeping 1, 5.

Rolled: 4, 4, 2, 2, 4, 6.

This roll got me 400 more points because of the three 4s, so now my total is 850! This means I am now on the board and can stop rolling at anytime, and keep whatever points I have rolled so far. If I continue rolling this turn, I run the risk of a "Farkle." That is, rolling the dice and not getting anything that "counts." Rolling a Farkle means I lose all the points I rolled that turn.

So I stop my first turn here, and get on the board with 850 points. domokun

Stopping once you reach 750 points on your first turn is recommended, because if you lose those points, you will need to get them again to get on the board.
