There are so many things in this world that I just don't understand.
Sometimes I think we'd be better off as animals.

Why are there criminals?
Why is there prejudice?
Why politics?
Why money?
Why anything?

I feel like human life is so unnecessarily advanced. I wonder about what life would be like had we not evolved.

Does anyone else ever feel this way?

You should read some Freud.

But if you think about it, we HAVE evolved. You might not be able to tell in any physical manner, but the fact is that I am sitting at a computer right now, conversing with people from across the globe.

We are on top of the food chain for a reason.

edit: Nice signature. I've actually flown out of the Orly airport.

Oh, no, I don't doubt that.
I just wonder why.
WHY did we evolve? Was it necessary? Why us?

Yeah, I did, too; just the other day. I took that picture myself. WEE.

Cancel that. It was Charles de Gaulle. That was an advertisement thingy I found there. I thought it was funny... when I saw it, I thought "ya rly."

Because we have 2 things that other creatures don't have in tandem, thumbs and imaginations. smile We dream it, so we build it.

good point.

while animals have natural weapons like claws and fangs, we have brains, which can be put to better use.

It's how nature took course.

Carl Sagan wrote a short piece about the dinosaur Saurornithoides, which was the front runner of intelligent life. It caught small mammals, and had extenisive relationships with others of it's kind. It's brain was proportionally too large for it's head, and evolution showed that its brain evolved faster than any other dinosaur.

But a mass extinction wiped the species out.

Basically, we got to where we are now because we were at the right place, at the right time. Had the Sauro been at the right place at the right time, IT would have evolved into the highest species of animal on the planet.

Scary though, huh.

But why did nature take that course?

I think in the grand scheme of things, there is no real why, other than chance...
But I'm not satisfied with that.
And I don't want to turn to religion.

Like I said, opposable thumbs, ideals, the ability to create... all of which leads to opposing ideals.

Well, it's either chance or religion.

I'd go with chance and luck, rather than something that actually doesn't exist.

Why are there criminals?because people have no lives, and that's the only way that they think they can make money and such

Why is there prejudice? people are ignorant and stupid

Why politics? so we can negotiate, instead of using politics with the sword

Why money? because currency is cool

Why anything? why not?

Pagan's Mind - ... Of Epic Questions

Physical obtained nothingness
A nightside tale!

I am the mighty call
To force you into your fate
Your destiny
Evil try to force you to your knees
A carnal force of darkness

[Chorus:]
What is life? Where is God?
In this dimension
Where is the truth I'm in search for?
What is life? Where is God?
In this dimension
Where is the truth I search?

Physical obtained nothingness
A nightside tale!
Spiritually leaded carved in flesh
Shed the grace

Down in vain...
... You'll feel the pressure building
Up from the skies
Majestic!
Create the pain...
... Of gods and creatures
May you enter
This stage of reign!

I am your emperor
The one imperious
Your master of fate
Cast a spell to drown thee of your strength
Your fatal loss of power

[Chorus:]
What is life? Where is God?
In this dimension
Where is the truth I'm in search for?
What is life? Where is God?
In this dimension
Where is the truth I search?

Physical obtained nothingness
Vault of infernal pressure
Spiritually leaded carved in flesh

I thee dominion
Supremacy of mind
The answer to all
Locust plague the bringer of your pain
And faithful loyal servant

[Chorus:]
What is life? Where is God?
In this dimension
Where is the truth I'm in search for?
What is life? Where is God?
In this dimension
Where is the truth I search?

What is life?
Where is God in this dimension fall?
Where is the truth I'm in search for?

Physical obtained nothingness
Vault of infernal pressure
Spiritually leaded carved in flesh
The epic questions!

Natural Selection.
So basically it made us better, and eventually we'd all have it.

If you're looking for a more spiritual answer I doubt you'll find it here.
