Have you ever watched a movie that's just made you sit there and think? That made you feel something or made you want to change the world or yourself? I love movies. <3 And I love movies that leave me sitting there. There seriously aren't many movies that can do that to me, but there have been some (and some documentaries as well.) Most recently mine would be Contact. It's a sci-fi movie that at first sounds a bit corny, but the movie itself was absolutely wonderful. It's extremely ironic at the end. I'm not good at explaining things soo.. an excerpt from a review. Quote: Review by zBirdmanBut ultimately it is the contact between science and religion that makes for the most controversy, and this is sad. Far from being 'anti-religious', this film has far more to do with the areas where science and religion come together. It never says religion is wrong or foolish, far from it; it places spirituality as a matter of tremendous importance (witness the candidate selection process) and, at the end, turns the tables completely around by placing science in exactly the same situation and with exactly the same argument (i.e., "Prove it!") In the end, the scientist is forced to ask others to have faith in that which she alone knows (or does she? What's the obvious distinction between a hallucination and reality?) She ends up in the role of the prophet, proving how difficult it is to prove to others that what you see is really what you saw. eek Anyway! What movies have made an impact on you? I heard Requiem for a Dream was that type of movie.

Oh yeah, I've watch several movies that really made my heart soar with the message it carries. At the moment I don't really recall any but yes I watched such movies.
I get this light wonderful feeling right after I watch that said movie. Makes me feel so high in a good. Like I'm empowered or something. Once I recall some of the movies I'll list them here. heart

Yuh. Contact was a good one for me...because it was sorta like it could really happen, under the same circumstances, at anytime. Another movie that has made me think about things would probably have to be 'War Games' Which I had to watch for school but ended up liking it very much.

Yea...Friday. xd
Requiem for a Dream was actually a good movie. I was surprised Marlon Wayans could do a good acting job.

Grave of the Fireflies is the one which hit me the most. So sad! crying If you don't turn completely anti-war (that is to say if you weren't already) for a good few weeks after watching then you have no soul wink It makes you consider not only the impact of war on civilians, but also the driving forces behind the actions of all the characters, who in the end do nothing wrong besides being human and open to falibility. crying

|| how strong do you think i am? how much can i take of this? || We recently finished watching Contact in my Earth Science class. I had seen it before, as a kid, so I didn't understand much of it. But watching it with my liberal mind now really made me think more about the great possibility of life elsewhere. Amazing movie.
And Children of Men was good in its theme, as well.
Heh. Now I want to see Freedom Writers. xD || am i a rock, or a rose, or a fist? or the breath at the end of a kiss? ||

Well, since I'm a history and earth science nut movies that deal with those subjects are my kind of thing. Although, I don't go see movies that much anymore because of the kids.

Children of Men made me think alot about the future. However, I doubt it's going to become that worse within the next 20 years.
When I first watched Pay it Forward, I bawled, and stopped and then thought about it. It really moved me.
