Im working on a somewhat graphic complex site, and I have a particular image I'd like to use as a center bit in the middle of a nav bar along the top. I am thinking of diving it to position in the center of the nav bar instead of breaking the nav bar into bits, so as to make it load first, and attempt to keep the file size low without making it a million images.

Any alternatives to div layering it, or slicing the image?
Or suggestions...

Heres a Graphic thumbnail to give the idea of what i mean, For those with no formal training, the X'd box = image

Div! Always div! Divs forevar! domokun

But seriously, divs are a lot easier to work with and much less trouble than slicing up the image. Think about it: if you ever want to change that graphic, you don't have to even touch the bar in the back, just replace the graphic with another of any size or shape!

Like kywai said, use div. It's much more efficient and coding look much neater.
Slicing the image makes the HTML code look really ugly.
