“Read on, fellow Zombies.”

The Summary: Guy emails me and says he likes my AMV and wants me to do video edits for his "group."

http://groups.msn.com/theguardianangels/ourpurpose.msnw (the webpage is, thankfully, no longer active, as it was a disorganized, grammar-raping joke.)

Here is a wonderfully dramatic IM conversation--

From February 2, 2006: heart

HIM: Hello
ME: hi
HIM: Im lucky to have caught you
ME: okay
HIM: Well, for starters I wanted to explain to you.
HIM: My militia is for the people/.
HIM: Protecting our rights.
HIM: All that.
ME: yes, I got that.
HIM: Yeah.
HIM: Well, no revolution
HIM: Im gonna protect what we got now.
HIM: And give democracy the credit it deserves.
ME: I got that part too.
HIM: Hmm.
ME: I still don't know exactly what I'd be doing though.
HIM: Ah, thats what.
HIM: Well, I would ask you to edit videos.
HIM: Make videos.
HIM: Do stuff like that.
HIM: Your very good at it.
HIM: And I wanna use that.
ME: Okay, I figured that part out. But I need an example or something.
HIM: What do you mean?
ME: "editing and making videos" is kind of a broad description.
HIM: Hmm
HIM: Do what you like to do
HIM: Like for example
HIM: That movie you made
ME: I don't see how that relates to your cause at all.
HIM: Hmm
HIM: I would have you make videos like that, but make it like... with text...
HIM: And that text explain us.
HIM: Used for many types of things
HIM: Ads
HIM: All that
ME: Okay, I'm starting to get the picture.
ME: But what exactly do you guys DO.
HIM: Well
HIM: Nothing particularly
HIM: We do many things
HIM: Were a system of the people
HIM: Soldiers to protect your rights with force
HIM: Politicians to protect your rights with diplomacy
ME: Yes, I read that on the website.
HIM: No
HIM: I never said that on the site
HIM: lol
ME: However, I want to know exactly how you go about doing this.
HIM: Ah
ME: well, it said something like that on the site.
HIM: Well, see the thing is we'd be funded.
HIM: By ourselves.
HIM: Each agent can provide funds.
HIM: Donate.
HIM: And we could do work, make money like a real organization.
HIM: One with morals
ME: But see, how are you going to do this?
HIM: Like building any other business
HIM: Supporters
HIM: Advocates
HIM: People to side with us
HIM: And help us
HIM: Oh I see where your going.
HIM: Well, we'd fund it with what money we make in life.
HIM: At first.
HIM: Then later we start supporting evens.
ME: So, if I join, I'd have to donate.
HIM: events*
HIM: No
HIM: You dont HAVE to.
HIM: It's up to you.
HIM: Your work is well appreciated.
HIM: Editing video and such.
ME: I see.
HIM: Yeah.
HIM: Well anyways.
HIM: The money we make.
HIM: We will form it
HIM: And then support events, like...
HIM: Antiracism.
HIM: Anything that has good purpose.
HIM: We support
HIM: And in turn
HIM: They support us
HIM: So it's a global growth
ME: See, you're giving me ideals and abstractions. I want a concrete idea. Like, "When we make money, we will sponser an event that is much like ________."
HIM: Ah/
ME: "...and this is how we'd go about doing it..."
HIM: .*
HIM: Yes, like that.
HIM: Well, how we'd go about doing it is already explained.
HIM: Ads.
HIM: Running our own servers.
HIM: Spreading word about it.
HIM: Selling things.
HIM: Making our own material, movies and such.
HIM: Combining a network.
HIM: Like say verizon had a board that liked our ideals, and we'd form a sort of corporate alliance.
HIM: And we'd make it very easy to live in every day life.
HIM: Things becoming more affordable.
ME: See, do you even know how to do that? Have you studies business relations? It's amazingly complicated.
HIM: Exactly.
HIM: I know that/
HIM: Thats why i'd hire people with such skills.
HIM: But.
HIM: No hiring.
HIM: Like a family business.
ME: Ah.
HIM: Noone makes anything, it's all kept within the family.
ME: So, "supporting what is right."
HIM: Exactomundo.
HIM: Everyone has a job.
ME: "Right" is a personal idea.
ME: I need to know what YOU think is right.
HIM: Ah.
HIM: I KNOW what is right.
HIM: It's what people agree on
HIM: Something diplomatic.
HIM: Everyone knows whats good and bad.
HIM: Thats why bad exhists.
HIM: Or good exhists.
HIM: One must exhist so as to explain the other.
ME: No. "Good" and "Bad" are personal decisions.
HIM: Somewhat true.
HIM: Good and bad are what you depict.
ME: What I consider right might not be what you consider right.
HIM: I cannot simply explain...
HIM: Ask the right questions...
HIM: And you'll get the right answers.
ME: give me a concrete example of what you really feel strongly about...and if you think it's right or wrong.
HIM: Might.
HIM: Ask a question.
HIM: I need specifics.
ME: Okay... searching for a hot, controversial topic......
ME: um.....
ME: Abortion.
HIM: Hmm.
HIM: Well, in my opinion, before I give the concrete answer.
HIM: I will give the reason for it.
ME: Good. That's supporting your opinion.
HIM: Im a firm believer in the fact that once the sperm hits the egg, the soul is placed there.
ME: Now, give me it, and back it up. biggrin
ME: Oh.
ME: I see.
HIM: Yes.
HIM: So no matter how early or late.
ME: And you came to this conclusion how?
HIM: It's still murder.
HIM: Wanna know why?
ME: Yes.
ME: I'm all ears.
HIM: Because sometimes it's up to you.
HIM: But.
HIM: Im a firm believer in Gods will.
ME: You see, that's where we're different.
HIM: Whatever happens to you in life, you must accept and follow
ME: I don't believe in God.
HIM: Ah.
HIM: Abortion is evil.
HIM: You made the mistake.
HIM: Not the baby.,
ME: So, naturally, what I consider right and what you consider right are vastly different.
HIM: Punishing someone else for your own mistake is crooked and sedistic.
ME: See, I don't consider it a sentient being when it's only a glob of cells.
HIM: Right
HIM: Thats where we differ.
HIM: And this conversation ends.
ME: It does.
HIM: Your comment was plainly rude, rigorously explaining a baby as a "Glob of cells"
ME: Maybe.
HIM: No maybe.
HIM: It's sad.
HIM: But, when you sit before God.
HIM: It's too late.
HIM: You cant go back on your life.
ME: There is no God.
HIM: Well.
HIM: In your view.
HIM: If there is.
HIM: You will suffer for your blasphemy
ME: I believe in religious equality.
HIM: Now that
HIM: Is impossible
HIM: Wanna know why?
ME: You do not respect my spiritual beliefs.
HIM: Hmm
HIM: I dont, because I can plainly see manipulation
ME: You basically said I'd burn in hell because I don't believe in God.
HIM: Nope
HIM: Never said that
HIM: I said
ME: Yes, you did. "You will suffer for your blasphemy."
HIM: Right, and yet..
HIM: You didn't understand what I meant by that.
HIM: You can suffer in life even.
HIM: How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
ME: Everyone suffers.
ME: It's a fact of life.
HIM: My blood will be avenged.
HIM: Sad though, when manipulation can be plainly seen
ME: However, if people would only learn to accept others for what they are, suffering would be lessened a lot.
HIM: Im not gonna even attempt to convert you, it's a lost cause.
ME: Good.
HIM: Even God tells you, "There are some people you cannot convert"
ME: Because converting people is WRONG, and it goes against my moral beliefs.
HIM: Sad to hear, I pray for your soul, being locked in a body enveloped with temptation
ME: You're a sad one.
ME: A real sad one.
HIM: Right.
ME: How old are you?
HIM: Im not attacking you
HIM: I never did
HIM: I said I pray for your soul
HIM: And you take that as an attack?
HIM: Thats how your wrong in your beliefs.
ME: I didn't take that as an attack.
HIM: Yes you did.
HIM: ME: You're a sad one.
ME: A real sad one.
HIM: Those were attacks
ME: I took "Sad, though, when manipulation can planely be seen" as an attack.
HIM: Right.
HIM: A body can be enveloped in temptation
HIM: But.
HIM: The soul cannot.
ME: Everyone has a body.
HIM: Bodies can be corrupted.
ME: So you must be manipulated too.
HIM: Not souls.
HIM: No, not when I have all the proof in the world.
ME: Which is...?
HIM: You are not worth the time, sorry.
ME: good
ME: Pretentious ******** whipped his a** but good. >D Go Abortion! *waves the abortion flag*

Soy un hombre muy honrado,
que me gusta lo mejor
This reminds me an awful lot of Atlas Shrugged which I finished reading last night:

Quote:
A mystic is a man who surrendered his mind at its first encounter with the minds of others. Somewhere in the distant reaches of his childhood, when his own understanding of reality clashed with the assertions of others, with their arbitrary orders and contradictory demands, he gave in to so craven a fear of independence that he renounced his rational faculty. At the crossroads of the choice between 'I know' and 'They say,' he chose the authority of others, he chose to submit rather than to understand, to believe rather than to think. Faith in the supernatural begins as faith in the superiority of others. His surrender took the form of the feeling that he must hide his lack of understanding, that others possess some mysterious knowledge of which he alone is deprived, that reality is whatever they want it to be, through some means forever denied to him.

Quote:
When a mystic declares that he feels the existence of a power superior to reason, he feels it all right, but that power is not an omniscient super-spirit of the universe, it is the consciousness of any passer-by to whom he has surrendered his own. A mystic is driven by the urge to impress, to cheat, to flatter, to deceive, to force that omnipotent consciousness of others.

So true. It's sad, really. And it's pitiful that he'd get so offended by simple fact-- that a fetus is just a glob of cells. 'Cause whether it's got a soul or it's soulless, it's still a glob of cells. In fact... I'm a glob of cells! *gasp* "But... but no! The Bible says nothing of these 'cells,' so obviously, they don't exist! Microscopes are a false fabrication of the secular scientific community made in order to provide false evidence to lead you away from the Flock!"

OMG stare WE WILL NOT THINK

Anyway, I will have to read that book. It sounds interesting. whee

I love how he cuts out the conversation right as you ask him what the evidence is. Also, how is carrying an unwanted child always the mother's fault? Seems to me he's never heard of the concepts of broken condoms or rape. Sorry if that's a bit blunt, but it's also the truth. Though I will concede that abortions should not be a form of birth control...it doesn't teach responsibility that way.

Nonono, it's not the mother's fault, it's just her responsibility to take the punishment. Sacrifice is, after all, a virtue!

That's a typical argument, isn't it? He basically said "Abortion is wrong because it's murder and murder is a sin."

...How many people has 'God' killed, exactly? How many people were killed in the name of 'God'?

D:< Yeah, sod off. I'll have an abortion if I want to(within a certain amount of time. After a certain point it *is* murder. Like when the kid could probably survive outside the womb, just needs a few more months.).

Maybe my idea of "irony" is a little corrupt, but I found it ironic that while he claims his group is "for the people" and "protecting their rights", he refuses to respect your right to your own beliefs.

He sounded creepy right off the bat, but when he ended with that bit about "all the proof in the world"...

Ugh. What a loony.

According to this guy's logic, kicking someone in the stones should be considered mass genocide. Why? Because the sperm are completely innocent! They could have very well grown up to be child prodigies if not for the guy doing the kicking.

Forget that, stop masturbating, eating meat, eating plants, stepping on insects and all that stuff.

This guy sounds like a Buddhist who didn't have the balls to stick with his principles. Cognitive dissonance, anyone?
