Well, I suppose the egg came first. Isn't it the current scientific belief that birds are the descendants of dinosaurs? Dinosaurs laid eggs. The first chicken would have had to come from an egg. Evolution. Woo.

Though that certainly was not the question...dinasaurs evolved from an earlier, simpler lifeform of which I do not know the name, which evolved from something else and so on and so on until who really cares because it happend 35 million years ago. biggrin It turns into a circular argument. There's always something pre-existing the thing in question until you get to the "Prime-mover"--supposing, of course, you belive in a creator god.

I have to agree with nosh. That makes logical sense to me.

Thank you, nosh, for saving this thread.
@Yuki: You can change the poll by editing your first post, if you'd like to add the egg option you forgot.

The Egg came first. It was laid by a chicken-like animal. The Chicken inside the egg was a slight mutation, a slightly more evolved chicken. This is the only logical explanation.

hmmm, I've changed my mind. ^^, I was going to say chicken, but when I was formulating my argument, nosh's theory made more sense.

For amusement, I read the tabloids while my mom buys her groceries at the Supermarket. In one called The Sun, there's a question/answer section called "Ask Two Old Geezers". They were asked the chicken and the egg question and their answer was that the chicken came first because - and I'm quoting - "God didn't create the world to sit on an egg".
My own thought is that both are here now, so what does it matter which came first?

I beleive egg because there was probally a cross breed between to different animals, and or evolution to where the first chiken egg was laid by something not so different.
