My apologies if this thread is in the wrong forum, and please let me know right away if it isn't.
No on to my rant.
I realize that my age is significantly higher then a lot of the Gaians. This is okay with me. I'm not THAT old, only *cough* 23, still pretty hip and with it, I haven't started doing the "wtf does that term mean" stuff yet ( I will leave that to my parents). I didn't really think it would be an issue, and it sincerely wasn't until I began to visit the forums. I am used to standard trolls, ridiculous spams, horrible spelling and grammar, the works. What I wasn't expecting was all the *hate* threads, and the incredible overuse, and misuse of the word "emo".
It is just staggering to me the amount of hatred and just blind ignorance people have. I guess I am just naive?
My topic of discussion I guess, is, do you think the "emo" trend will EVER go away? Why are there so many half naked pictures of preteens in signatures?! Why do you think that youth today is so bitter and hateful? Am I old? ...you don't have to talk about that one...lol.

Emo has been going on forever, someone just finally slapped a bumper sticked label on it.
Yeah! Kids need to be more modest, but whatever. I can't control them.
Kids have their parents speak through them sometimes. They say, "I never want to be like my mom/dad" but it's kinda' hard to run away from genes, I mean - they're INSIDE you. o_O;;
Not old. There are married people on this website. o_o;; With kids!

I know what you mean about the half-nked preteen things. Its ridiculous. And as for the "emo" thing, What is with that? Every emo i've asked what it means has said something different. They should all get together and make up their bloody minds!

I do find myself constantly struggling not to say something rude to people who can't spell words as simple as "and". But that's just me.

It must be those casino games. Anyways, I'm not far behind you, I'm 20.

I am quite sick of the emo trend too. >>;; And half of the people who say they're emo... aren't. Its sort of sad. Especially when people go around telling everybody they're emo, like its a GOOD thing. What's so good about being emo? D;
I'm thirteen... am I "bitter and hateful"? rofl
A lot of adults complain about the direction youth is going today, but the thing is... its not just their fault, its the adults' faults too. confused I guess I don't have much right in saying this, though. xD;; Meh, its just my opinion.

I'm 15 and I'm the most bitter and hateful person I know. *poses* Except, not many people think that....but what do they know?! No one knows me better than....me!
Anyways, about the emo thing, it's such a huge trend it's crazy. Right now it's scene, so it'll be in for maybe a year more or so, and then it'll die out, except for the few people that are all 'oh me god, i'm emo for life' and they actually mean it. I think it's a ridiculous label, everyone I hear call themselves emo are really like over-dramatic. With their rich selves saying their parents hate them even though their parent's would buy them the world if possible.
Lastly, you are definately not old, actually, most people I meet on Gaia are around your age. *nod*

You guys have to realize that it will never go away. & Personally, I don't care what trend a person follows, because its their life. If they want to be emo, let them be emo. They aren't doing anything to you, and your only wasting your own time by worrying about when the 'trend' will be over.
The only thing I can't stand about them, is the fact that if you ask an emo, or a scene kid what it means, they can't answer it.
