Just a few minutes ago while browsing Wikipedia, I stumbled upon this graph put up by USA Today that shows the breakdown of religious beliefs per state (Excluding Hawaii and Alaska).

I have some doubts on the credibility of it, but it's the only thing I've found that has this sorta thing, so it's gonna have to work until I find something better.

The answer to the question stated above is: Washington

Yes, Washington State is apparentely where the most non-religious people are. 25% of the population claim to have no religion. Oh and here's the kicker, that's more than ALL beliefs (when broken down into the different sects) in the state.

The state with the least number of non-religious people are is: North Dakota

Surprisingly, it's not Alabama. North Dakota only has a 3% of non-religious people while Alabama has 6%.

Feel free to play with the map here.

Washington doesn't surprise me. I figured either that or Oregon.

I would've guessed Oregon, but *shrug* I guess I was wrong.

I just knew it wasn't my state. Congratulations, everybody-- My state brought you Rick Santorum.

My state brought you the phrase "rock & roll", eight presidents, more astronauts than any other state (including John Glenn), and of course, Drew Carey.

My state (Michigan) got 15% non-religious. I had no idea we had so many Catholics. o_O;

Also, there are a lot less Muslims than I expected.

My State, Virginia, was the birthplace/home to the first president and 6 other presidents and was at one point the largest state/colony in America and has been recently the subject of national and worldwide news.

Virginia Tech, the fact that our constitution was changed to forbid gays from marrying each other and the uber-close senate race.

Also, VA is only 13% Non-religious. I'm guessing that at least 6%-9% have to live in Northern VA (where I am). Around here, there are A LOT of atheists/agnostics. Still, I'm still thinking of moving to Washington.

My state's economy makes all your states' economies look like a preschool sandbox, trading rocks for sand castles.

The Catholics pwn in PA too.

It's the middle of the state, man. I'm telling you. If we didn't have ******** smashed between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, we'd be, like, sooooo liberal.

Or maybe not. We always end up voting blue anyhow. Yay for populated urban areas! blaugh

Heh, I'm not surprised the least bit that the majority of Mississippians are Baptist. The 7% being nonreligious was surprising, though.
