Artificial War

"If you don't shut up I'm going to start by cutting out your vocal cords," he replied. "Right here, before we reach the facility."

Azm was ahead of the group now and setting explosives in the forest. Once he was out of C4 he pulled out Kim's rifle and aimed at the Android at the front of the line. He fired and the bullet passed through it's head.
As soon as the lead bot hit the ground four of the twelve droids guarding the line charged into the forest.
They didn't get very far before getting torn apart by rockets. The rest of the androids charged into woods, shooting into the forest as they ran. But before they actually spotted Azm he detonated all the C4 in the woods around them. Once the smoke had settled all that was left were bits of wood, dirt, and metal.
"That... was a lot easier then I thought it was going to be..."

"Oh, but then how are you going to bribe my father out of a new brain?" Kim grinned definitely at the android, just before Azm's first show. Her and the others captured immediately stopped and looked out towards the forest, trying to spot their rescuers. When the four were hit with rockets, the others yelled in surprise, and Kim shouted out to get down low. The group crouched as the rest of their escorts ran off, only to be finished off by more explosions. When things got quiet, the others began to look around, nervous, curious, and scared.

Kim, however, remained quite calm.
"Really wish you guys would have gotten here faster." She called out, frowning. "Me and four other people."

Azm emerged from the smoke alone. "Is everyone alright?" he asked as he moved to undo their chains.

The others looked at Azm nervously, shifting on their feet uneasily as he approached. It was difficult to be around an android comfortably after all that had happened. As they were freed, they moved cautiously away from him, but kept close in case others appeared.

"We've all been better, I think." Kim sighed. "The bastards made a point to beat us up good after we got out of town, and then made us a walk the death march." Kim added, gently rubbing her broken wrist as she was freed from the chains. It was very sore, from being rebroken and heavy weight of the chains, but the rest of her body aches and pained dulled it out.

"You come alone or are there others?" She asked, busying herself by trying to wipe off dried blood and dirt.

"Just me. The others were too busy escorting other survivors to DC," he replied. He pulled an aid kit from his bag. "We should wrap that wrist."  

[Randomly Gone Insane]

"It can wait." Kim grunted, looking at Azm with a tired glare.

"The civilians are more important. Treat them first." She nodded to the remaining three, who had huddled together. "Androids were harsher on them when we were getting throttled."

Azm nodded and went to treating the civilians. "If you insist," he replied. "Your lieutenant wanted us to head to DC after I found everyone," he said as he used the magnet method to remove some shrapnel, then started stitching.

"Do we have any means to get there, or are we walking?" Kim asked tiredly as she slowly took a seat on the ground, wanting to rest of her feet. God I hope we're not walking... She thought to herself with a groan as she finally sat down.

"The LT can't be too far away. I'll radio him and see if he can send a truck," he replied as he moved on to the next person. "We might still have to walk to the settlement though. I still need to bury the dead along the trail as well."

The next part couldn't be heard by anyone except Azm. "Sir, this is Azm. I have the survivors. Can you send me a truck?"  

[Randomly Gone Insane]

"Great..." Kim groaned, rubbing on her face with her good hand.

"Before we head off, let us rest first please... I'm exhausted, and I got the nice treatment." She sighed as the civilians began to sit down as Azm finished treating their wounds.

The Lieutenant looked down at the radio as Azm's voice came through, and unhooked it from his belt.
"Glad to hear you found survivors." He replied with a sigh of relief afterwards.

"I'll see what I can't do about sending someone to pick you up, but I need your location. Doesn't do me any good to ask around for help without knowing where to send the help to."

"Just tell them to go north of the settlement. They can't miss the trail," he replied.

"We have a ride on the way," he said as he moved to the next person.  

[Randomly Gone Insane]

"I need exact locations, Azm." The Lieutenant gave an irritated sigh. "I can't just send out men with only 'north' as a direction."

"How far north?"

"23 miles north of the settlement," he replied.  

[Randomly Gone Insane]

"Alright. I'll send someone as soon as I can. I'll radio you back once I've confirmed your ride. Out." The Lieutenant replied, setting his radio down as he began to search for a free or nearby truck to pick up the group.

"So, do we get a ride or do we get to walk?" Kim asked tiredly a few minutes after the conversation with Azm and Lieutenant ended. She knew he, oddly, radio chatted in silence, and his long pause of quietness meant he was busy talking over the radio waves.

"Yes... we have a truck coming to get us. So we can wait here."
