League Trainer Rosie

PostPosted: Sat Jul 13, 2013 7:37 pm
Rosie's eyes fell onto the slide show, watching it quietly, at each of the faces that appeared on the screen.. people who were rockets... many of them just normal looking people, it was hard to tell what kind of person they really were.
It saddened her that these were the kind of people causing so much pain in her home. Just people...

Her head turned back to Luke when she heard him ask his question, though it was more of a comment toward the League.
Her lips parted slightly as he continued, then finished, she might have never been willing to say those words to people like that, though there really wasn't anything more true, or even more touching, standing up for the will of the Kodo trainers to keep fighting and what they've manage to accomplish so far.

He was amazing.

Luke

There was a brief moment when the full panel paused to discuss the statement, and Cynthia finally leaned forward to respond. "We understand your concerns completely, and I agree to an extent. While many of you are indeed capable, I can see at a glance that there are newer trainers in the audience as well, and while I know that the more seasoned trainers are fully capable of handling and defending themselves, less experienced trainers may not be able to as well. We don't want to give overarching advice aimed at experienced trainers that the less experienced trainers might take."

Alder barely waited for Cynthia to finish her sentence before he butted in with a smile, "I'd like to speak to you after the panel, if you don't mind."

He could see the logic behind that, he supposed, though the contradiction of it still irked him. Of course they shouldn't be throwing ten-year-old newbie trainers at a highly organized group of merciless criminals, but there certainly were other disciplined trainers amidst the audience, likely many with more experience and ability than he and Rosie combined. It also seemed just a little naive to assume that the option to escape or call for help would always be available. Rather than encouraging retreat, he would have expected the Pokemon League, ambassadors of the champion trainers, to encourage young trainers to work hard under the expectation of having to eventually defend themselves.

Or maybe his perspective was simply skewed… Training seemed to be little more than a recreational sport for most. He responded to Cynthia with a nod that was understanding if not just slightly disagreeing, though his attention went to Alder at the quick amendment. "That's fine," he replied, vaguely curious what the elite trainer - a champion, if he recalled - could have to say to him, though the obvious conclusion was a reprimand for his speaking out so brazenly.

the reply from Cynthia was fare enough, but Rosie couldn't help but think that while it had a good sentiment, that it didn't help those young trainers out too much.
People came to Kodo knowing the dangers, so it was safe to say that there were probably a smaller number of non-Kodo trainers on the island in comparison to the other regions.
Not to say they didn't exist, Henrietta was an example of that, though Rosie did have to wonder now, why the young girl chose Kodo... and now knowing its dangers.

Regardless, Rocket didn't care about the skill of the trainer, and it was never as simple as turning around and running away. Ever. and Rosie knew that first hand.

With the kind of tools they had at their disposal...
She remembered the time she had been attacked... for the second time where one of her pokemon was taken, and the black ball that stole it.
Rosie tilted her head and once again raised her hand for the Mic.

"What information does the League have on those black pokeballs the Rockets use?"

Rosie

There was another brief pause as the panel exchanged a series of looks and words amongst themselves. This time, it was Glacia who leaned forward. "None that we're discussing at this time," she answered kindly, but with a trace of an apologetic smile.

Alder pointed at the girl first with one finger, then with two - or more like, pointed at her with one and Luke with the other - and smiled. He wanted to see her afterwards, too.

The answer was disappointing, but Rosie wasn't really sure what she expected, some kind of news maybe, any kind. or even awareness to the others who might not know.
She replied to their answer with a slight nod, lowering the mic and holding it back out to the assistant.
Eyebrows arching a little when she was pointed to, singled out, then with Luke she nodded again in reply, though feeling suddenly a bit shy and nervous.

Luke, Rosie

Nicolette watched with rapt attention as both Luke and Rosie stood to ask questions or to make a comment of some sort. While she didn't wholly understand all of the information in the panel - she was still learning about pokemon and battling in general - she at least appreciated the time that these important people were volunteering for their benefit. Though she didn't expect Luke and Rosie to be singled out like that. Her hands flew to cover her mouth, and she turned to regard her two friends with wide eyes. "Why did he do that? You aren't in trouble, are you?" She asked in quiet tones, worried that they were. Why had he pointed at Rosie like that without even saying anything?

-----

Aw man, so much talk about how dangerous Team Rocket was and how to deal with them - which was to not - and now they were showing freaking pictures of some of them. Even if his own picture wasn't up there - indeed, he didn't recognize any of the ones so far - it still could be, at some point. Trying to avoid thinking about it too much, he instead pulled his 'dex out once more and sent off another quick message.

Nicolette

Luke waved a hand lightly in dismissal. "I wouldn't worry about it. If we're in trouble for saying things that needed to be said, then we'll have a lot more to talk about." There was a slight edge to his tone; he hadn't been padding his words when he said he appreciated the League's efforts, but he certainly wasn't about to stand aside and allow himself and his friend to be criticized for valid concerns.

Nicolette, Luke

Rosie didn't think they were in trouble. They certainly didn't ask any questions that she thought were worth getting into trouble for.
She guess they would have to wait and see what they wanted to talk about.

Giving Nicolette a smile to join Luke's words. "He's right, I'm sure it won't come to that though."

A young boy shot his hand into the air, waving enthusiastically until he was given a microphone. "Are you gonna make gyms here in Kodo?" He asked hopefully, once he had been given a mic. He barely paused before adding, "Please?"

Alder pulled his mic closer and offered the boy an apologetic smile. “We don’t have any plans to build gyms in Kodo at this time, no.”

The boy slumped back in his chair with a pout as he handed the mic back.

As questions were asked and answered, the screen shifted silently through various pictures and sketches. There were even some clips of news footage. Eventually, though, pictures shifted to ones some of the audience might recognize: A picture of a blonde, hazel-eyed young woman standing in a lobby; footage of a boy with long red hair and green eyes pulling a pokeball away from a blonde, blue-eyed trainer; a black haired man with red eyes running alongside a taller blonde young man; a slightly blurry picture of a pink-eyed, black-haired girl in an ornate red dress, clutching a bloody shard of glass. The Rockets and a few trainers among those assembled might recognize Faleen, Asch (and Rosie), Izaya, Xander, and Aila.

Faleen narrowed her eyes lightly in attention as the questions were asked, Rosie brought up the Dark balls again, Faleen waited for an answer, though curiously, they did not get one... she wondered that that meant, either they knew something and were not willing to share for some reason, or what she thought was most likely, was that they in fact did not know anything.

More questions were asked about the island, Faleen idly watched the screen as it still shuffled through faces, most of them unfamiliar. At least, untill it came upon a picture of her, and several other team mates.
She was wondering when that would come up, she wasn't at all disillusioned to think that she could still go under the radar at this point, This meant she would certainly have to deal with things a bit differently.

Letting out a light sigh, though pausing and tilting her head at the one with Asch and Rosie.... huh, well that was interesting, considering the one that was sitting in this room looked, just like Asch. Oh this was going to be good.

A familiar face on the side of her vision drew her attention to the screen, her chest gave a painful jolt when she saw her sister, displayed on the screen.
her hands tightened against each other in her lap, wishing she could, but being completely unable to look away.
Faleen... why?

The images shifted again, she expected to see someone else she didn't know. Only this time, not only was she herself in the picture, but it was that day Asch had taken Vahy'n from her.
Asch... someone who the League shouldn't worry about being a Rocket anymore.
She looked over at Luke, in a half attempt to escape the screen.
"Oh no..."

Seemed like if they wanted Kodo's trainers to be stronger, they would offer the means and incentive for them to do that: the gym challenge. As it stood, any trainer strong enough to take on a gym leader would leave the island to do so, diminishing the forces they had to stand against the Rockets. It didn't sound like something they were planning to be flexible about, though.

The images of known Rockets cycled through, eventually revealing familiar faces. Luke frowned lightly at the picture of Asch. Something else to mention to Alder after the panel: That Rocket would no longer be a threat. If the quiet tension in his posture was an indication, his thoughts were more inclined towards his lost brother than the fact that there was a face identical to his own on the projection.

"Aw man, why not?!" Henrietta huffed, after hearing the boy ask his question about gyms, and getting a negative response. Her reaction was similar to that of the boy, sitting back and folding her arms with a bit of a pout.

She sat back, pretty sure Rosie and Luke weren't in trouble, anyway, until she caught sight of the pictures on the screen and had a little double-take at one of them.
The girl might have pointed out that she remembered the ones who had attacked them in Kanto, until she saw the image of Rosie and Asch; or, as she saw him, a somewhat different looking Luke.
"Hey, they aren't Rockets!"

While Nicolette didn't recognize most of the pictures, she did recognize one of them, and her hands flew to her cheeks once more. That was Luke - or Lucien? - one of the two, and that had to be Rosie. But what was he doing? When did that happen? What was going on?

-----

The pictures on the screen completely and wholly arrested Inigo's attention -- or rather, one in particular did. Aila. Why did they have a picture of her up there? Why?

Henrietta's voice cut into his thoughts and pulled his focus to her, and from there to the picture of Asch and Rosie.. Rosie? What. His gaze fell to the girl in front of him, and the boy beside her - who looked quite a lot like the picture on the screen, just with shorter hair... But the girl was right; the boy in front of him wasn't a Rocket.
