Ray started over toward them as Gon and Treecko both ran over to the other side of the clearing, taking up a position as Treecko leaped out in front of his young trainer.

Ray herself didn't approach too closely, was joined by Rosie as she waited for the two to set up and battle. Not really hoping either one will win, though knowing that it will affect what happens in the future, so she had an keep interest on how it would end.

Though as it would have it, Gon, despite how much better he and Treecko had gotten at working together and holding out as long as they could ultimately lost to Sorey's and Mikleo's closer team work and experience.

Ray, not seeming troubled by this even though Gon was still trying to silently will Treecko to stand back up, his hands balled in front of him as he crouched lower, the Treecko taking a knee one eye closed as he too tried to push himself up to continue the battle.

"I'm calling it Gon." Ray told the boy.

"But we can still fight!" Gon protested with a look of surprise, Treecko joining in with a cry of protest.

"I'm calling it, Its over, you did good." she told the small boy, a smirk crossing over her lips as she turned to Sorey. "Good work you two."

Clapping a hand on Gon's shoulder "Go get ready to turn in."

Although Mikleo took a certain degree of pride from demonstrating his abilities, he wasn't really comfortable with the idea of continuing to fight against an opponent that was having difficulty standing. If Treecko were prey, this would be the moment where Sorey stepped in with his knife and secured their next meal. He and Sorey both exhaled the breath they had been holding when Ray declared the match over.

Sorey replied to Ray's comment with a smile, though as she dismissed Gon, he hurriedly interjected, digging into one of the pouches on the back of his belt, "Oh, wait!" In the next moment, he produced a pair of wrinkled yellow fruits. "These are dried sitrus berries," he explained. "They're great for getting your energy back after fighting and have a nice mild flavor."

Mikleo said. He felt it important to clarify as much, given how fervently the trainer and pokemon seemed to want to continue.

"Mikleo says let's battle again soon," Sorey translated. "You guys make great rivals!"

the tall figure standing by him, a hand on his shoulder as if to tell him to settle, to step down from a fight that Gon knew he and Treecko weren't ready to give up, even if Treecko wasn't able to continue on, there was no way they were just going to give up.

The clicking on chittin moved up behind Gon as Heracross joined his young Trainer, she clenched his fists and moved forward to collect the grass type who was still refusing to collapse even though his body wanted to.

There was a shift in Gon's demeanor, his young face, though usually so wide eyed and bright held an odd determination, not like he had displayed before. This time it was different, angry.
This was why the KSO didn't want him, He wasn't strong enough yet, They were weak, even after all the training they did they were still weak, and Gon HATED feeling weak. He hated having to step back even if he knew he could keep going.

When he was spoken to the boy looked up, the fierce energy burning from him faded slightly as he addressed the boy who had beaten him fare and square. Being clear at least that he didn't hold any animosity toward Sorey.
With Treecko in his arms, the two looked on as they were handed the fruit, reaching out to take them the two lifted up a little more and smiled
"Your teamwork is something else! Next time we'll win for sure!"

Ray was surprised that she felt a little disappointed that Gon had lost, she could tell he was more then just disappointed though. As much effort as the boy had been putting into his training, she knew he took this seriously, more seriously then a most of the trainers she had met in her lifetime. She she knew how degrading loss was.

Who knows, maybe a part of Ray really wanted Gon to be ready to help out with the growing problems Sagestone has been having. But as she always told Gon and Treecko. You don't become a strong trainer over night, It takes a long of work, and a lot of time to start climbing.
She had no real reason to worry that he would quit, she knew he was much to stubborn for that.

Mossy eyes met Sorey as he approached, handing Gon and Treecko the dried berries.
This one here though, She had liked what she had seen from the battle, not just that he had won, but that he had a keen understanding of his partner. They worked together flawlessly, in the way most trainers could only dream of.
She knew now that she wasn't going to regret asking him to help.

The young blond women stood by the tallest of the group, the thin women towering over her with a silent concentration of the battle.
The two teams taking part were dedicated, more to to each other then to victory. Rosie watched as Gon put all his energy out into his Treecko, giving the Pokemon everything his had so that he could fight as hard as he could.
And Sorey, effortlessly syncing with his Vaporeon in their strategy.

It was the will to not give up, and to keep fighting that sparked the self-conscious uncertainty in Rosie.... or perhaps it was the glance that Pop gave her in the moments where Gon really should have called it quits, but didn't.
It almost hurt to see someone with his kind of will have to be declared the loser. And Rosie couldn't help but think... if her Pokemon had someone like him as a trainer, they would be unstoppable.
Her hands closed into one another tightly.
