Leopardthroat was flabbergasted by how all of his Clan mates could get so worked up over a kit! It was small and sickly and it seemed as though many cats were just itching for a fight. Of course, he had wanted to plunge into the battle too, but one look at Brightstar had kept his paws rooted into the ground.

Now, LightningClan was going home and he had no problem going with them. His loyalty lay with Brightstar and LightningClan. He was going to approach her as they were padding back to their camp, but pulled up abruptly at the sight of the fox, bristling and arching his back.

But.. it spoke? And about kits? What in StarClan's name could this mean? Was there something in the Code about attacking other creatures that could speak cat? He looked to Brightstar, waiting for her command, though he would defend her at all costs if he was needed.

Pineripple had originally opted to stay in camp when the others rushed out, but the anxiety of it all had gotten to her and she hurried after the group shortly after, joining them and observing the conflict over the kitten. She felt herself tense at Brightstar's parting words and she looked around at her Clan mates. None of them wanted to leave to join RiverClan, did they? They just went through this during the Great War! Spotting Cedarfang, she hurried over to him, her tail curling around his. She knew he wasn't going to leave the Clan, at least and that was more than enough for her.

"Time to go home." She mewed as she walked with him. "I think I'm about ready to-" She was cut off as Brightstar's yowl cut through the trees and her tail bushed out behind her as she froze. But... it spoke? And it was asking about a kit? She took a few deep breaths, trying to calm her mind with pulsed with panic. She exhaled slowly and then turned to Cedarfang.

"It may not be speaking about the kit, even though our mind is on it." She mewed. "Fox cubs are sometimes called kits, right?" She watched the mother fox as her Clan mates surged forward. "But... But it spoke!" She shook her head. What should she do?!

RiverClan
Stonebelly frowned at Shadowstar's reaction to his remark on the prophecy. Of course he shouldn't have been so bold as to say anything, but... They got the kit. He hurried Flamedapple over the border and beckoned to her with his tail.
"Let's get her into my den. I should still have some honey for her throat in my stores, but if it's more than a sore throat..." He shook his head. "We'll need to keep anyone else from coming near." He said, wondering what illness this kit may have.

Of course Lostpaw had gone with the group. Her mentor had gone, so by ForestClan, she was gonna go too! However, as she got there, looking at the kit and the conflict and watching Split arrive and then be attacked... She wished she hadn't come after all. She took a few steps after Split, watching him with one wide eye before turning to the rest of her Clan mates. She observed as the kit was given to RiverClan and she followed her mentor back to RiverClan camp. She stood beside Cardinalpaw and Bumblepaw as she looked at her mentor and then turned as Stonebelly approached. With a sigh, she turned to Cardinalpaw.

"Looks like they've got the kit taken care of." She mewed with a shrug. "You wanna, uh, watch me practice my battle moves?" She offered. "You both can pretend to be enemy warriors or a fox or something and I can fight you off! Claws sheathed, of course." She added quickly.

Turning his head towards the call of the Lightningclan leader, Wildstripe turned back to Cindergaze with a quick nod of understanding. "Go." Nothing more needed to be said right now. There was certainly much to be mulled over first. Already, something Cinder had said was haunting his thoughts as he padded silently away from the border.

...darkness that would shake the stars...

He silently watched Brightstar's retreat, before turning his gaze to the seething Shadowstar.

Forestclan save them. Or Starclan. Some help in general would be nice about now.

With a sigh, he settled in for their leader's address. Borders would be tight for a while. Hmm. There was always neutral ground but...best to simply lay low and keep quiet for a while. Let everyone cool their tempers a bit. Meanwhile, there was still the current issue at paw. The kit had been hurried away, so that was being taken care of. He was prepared to head back home, but lingered in case Wildflower or Russetstorm called for more Warriors. While he was not as eager to begin a scuffle as some of his brethren this day, he would not hesitate to defend his kin from harm.

(Sorry for a slow post wanted to let you all make choices xD Fine balance when playing a leader and running the meta xDD)

Timberfall had simply nodded to petalnose, while he liked the tom enough to want to chose him as a mate he didnt approve of sassing the leader. There was a time to offer opinions, especially with brightstar... but now hadnt been the time, when brightstar was having to pose as a leader, against another clan leader, there should be no questioning of her choices... even if she said her cats were going to sprout wings and fly away... they should really try to grow wings. But then there was a fox and he was on it! He launched into battle with the fox.

Brightstar looked around her to the cats and was trying to decide the right choice. But in the end, it was better for the kit... to be with riverclan not this fox... She didnt really care about its story... it was going to harm them either way probably... and in the end they would have chased her off even if she had fox kits.

Brightstar nodded to the orange tom. "Right, Run fast!" But then she hesitated. "No! stop.... dont cross the border.... if they are still there then fine but not a toe over the border, and we dont need their help... We will simply chase it off.."

She looked back to the other cats that hadnt attacked. "Well?! A fox has invaded lightningclan! Are you just going to sit there?!" But then she launched her own attack.


The fox howled in rage as the cats attacked and then took its turn to attack back.

MOTHER FOX: 869 (Started at 1000)

This fox deals damage in sweeping blows to anyone who attacks it, at 10 per turn. Once it is down to 500 It can focus its attacks on the cat that hits hardest that round.

Foxfur flicked his ear but he didnt protest trotting up to shadowstar he ducked his head. "I may have been out of line... but i wasnt really wrong was i? I was going to bring it back to camp... so we could look for its mother." HE lowered his head. "And then he took the kit from me... but i had already claimed riverclan would look after it.... I know... not my place... but someone needed to do something...." He lashed his tail but then chose to quiet himself and simply pad after his leader.


The kit mewled softly at Stonebelly as he came over and shyly pressed into flamedapple, coughbarking once more.

LightningClan
Brightstar didn't need to tell Leopardthroat twice. At her command, he lunged forward, but kept close to his leader. He didn't want to get in her way, but he wouldn't let the fox attack her, when it could go after him instead. Claws out and a yowl ripping itself from his throat, he went after the beast. It wouldn't be speaking, not after he was through with it!

Pineripple bunched up her muscles and sprang at the fox. Her leader had ordered her to fight, she couldn't worry about how it had spoke. She didn't want to freeze up, not fight and then have Brightstar kick her from the camp! So, if this was being demanded of her, she would do it. She wasn't the greatest of fighters, not in comparison to her dear Cedarfang, but maybe, she could do something to prove herself within the fight. Maybe Brightstar would acknowledge her efforts again too, and she could see that she'd done well to give Pineripple the extra attention, from when she was an apprentice.

Lunging forward, claws slashing at the fox's legs, she began her attack.

Shadowstar stalked forward, her ears pinned back. Every step her tail flicked sharply from one side or the other. Other than a soft growl growing in the back of her throat, Foxfur's words met silence.

Only when she was far enough that the Leader felt they wouldn't be overheard, she wiped around without warning. Flurry of leaves kicked up around her as she moved to face down Foxfur. The angry look stayed planted on her muzzle, "You almost brought us into a clan war over a kit! What in the Forestclan possessed you to do that?!" Anger on her face slowly melted into profound disappointment.

She looked as much over him as at him, words could not convey just how deeply disappointed in him she was. His actions led to her loosing a treasured friend and put aggression between the two clans that hadn't been there before.

Or had it? Was her firendship with Brightstar and the general goodwill with Lightningclan all in her head? She sighed hard, Honeystar was right.

Brightstar made clear what bonds there were, and just what relationship she wanted with their clan. Shadowstar was always one to learn.

Finally, Shadowstar finished what she wanted to say, "Foxfur, I don't want you leaving camp for a full moon." Maybe being stuck at camp would teach him a lesson about restraint, "Unless it is to hunt and another cat must be with you." As much as she wanted to ground him completely, with leafbare coming she couldn't completely count out a strong hunter.

"If that kit isn't a plague to wipe us out," The cough concerned her, and that missing Queen, "Then you will help Flamedapple raise it. You two wanted it so badly it will be your responsibility. I hope you think on what you did and the cost." Just what would that full cost be? Looking up to the sky, she prayed to the Forestclan she did the right thing allowing the kit in.

And that they were happy with what happened.

Angry Shadowstar is Disappointed

Petalnose would have come up with some excuse, needing to go run and fetch the medicine cat, literally anything, but then Timberfall leapt into battle and not long after the leader seemed to be hinting at them to get to fighting. He needed to help Timberfall and his clan. Anyway. Timberfall had defended him against their leader, he couldn't leave him for his own stupid morals! Even if he was weaker now, stupid snake bite. At least it wasn't a poisonous snake. Following Brightstar's just been a nightmare! Not in general, but to this specific scuffle. He sighed and leapt towards the fox with reluctancy, time to fight!

Snowshadow didn't understand how one kit had caused so much trouble, first a fight at the boarder, then it seemed as if the leaders would fight before Brightstar left and ordered everyone to follow her. How had the kit manged to cause such tension that it looked like the clan was falling apart.

He followed the group as the left and was shocked when a fox appeared and spoke, spoke CAT. It was looking for it's kit? didn't the kit say its mom was orange and white?

Was a fox raising the kitten? Before he got a chance to ask others launched themselves at the fox and then Brightstar yelled to attack.

He sighed inwardly, will the clan ever stop to listen to people? First the reasonable loner now a fox that could speak?

still orders where orders and he rushed forward to strike the fox, hoping it would choose to run. But if it did, it would go to river clan he hoped that some how this would be able to be solved without anyone being hurt to much but that seemed unlikely.

Cindergaze landed on her feet just in time to take a sweeping attack from the fox. She growled at the pain, tail lashing angrily. An angered mother certainly could land blows, but even the pretty female could return them! She turned on her paws and leaped at the fox once more, attempting to tear into its side.

Riverclan

Flamedapple simply stared hard at Shadowstar but said nothing. Leader's word was law after all.

Turning to nod to Stonebelly, scruffed the kit and gave a wave of her tail for her kits to follow. She was hard on Stonebelly's tail, not taking a chance to fall behind. She stopped only when they reached the medicine cat den and she gently set the kitten down in one of the empty nest indents, still curling around it to keep it warm. "I hope for all our sake that it is just a cough. Especially hers." she sighed, hanging her head a bit. She paused only to lick at a few scrapes she got from the loner before turning back to glance at her kittens. Would Stonebelly let them help? Or perhaps it was better that sweet Lostpaw kept them distracted for now.


Bumblepaw ran as fast as he could to keep up with the adult cats as well as make sure he was flanked by his sister and Lostpaw at all times if possible. Once back at camp he seemed to just fall flat onto the ground, panting a bit. Shaking himself he managed to catch his composure and watched as Lostpaw spoke to both of them. He tilted his head, trying hard to understand what she was saying. She seemed more excited than scared, which lead him to believe that she was possibly more happy and wanting something from him and his sister rather than being worried. Blinking at Cardinalpaw he waited to see what his sister did first but offered a smile and a playful air paw at Lostpaw. He liked that she reminded him of his mom and didn't care that she only had one eye.

[Irish Night Fox]

Sparrowflight took the blow in turn. She gritted her teeth when she saw the fox didn’t even seem to sway under the number of cats that were throwing themselves at her. They’d all trained so hard, and there she was taking it like it was nothing. She hissed in frustration at that fact. Even if she wasn’t showing signs now, they could keep at it. They’d nick her down eventually! So she barreled in again.

Ravensnatch kept crying out, hoping to distract the fox to attack mostly him but the she-devil hit hard. Hissing, he took a hard blow, watching most of his other clanmates get knocked back a few feet. But they continued to rise and keep going and that filled him with pride. "Together clan! Show them that we strike just as fast and as hard as our name-sake!" he grinned, launching himself back into battle. He wasn't fast nor did he hit hard but he could take a few hits and if he could soak for his fellow clan mates then he'd happily do it.

Thornslash was knocked back a peg, angry that this fox seemed to take their blows like it was nothing. Still, as Brightstar made a rally cry he wiped a bit of blood from his mouth with a paw and ran back in to help. He felt his body already being strained but he wasn't about to let go just yet. He wanted to prove what Lightningclan was made of and so leaped back into the fray.

“I shall obey,” Autumnriver said and took off for the border. He hoped that he would be fast enough to make it and warn Riverclan. He prayed that there was someone still there and IF he had to, he would cross the border. There were multiple cats in danger and now that this fox finally revealed itself, no one was safe.

“Shadowstar!” he called out as he got closer to the border. “Stonbelly?! Anyone? IS ANYONE THERE!!!” Autumnriver screamed at the top of his lungs. ‘Someone has to be here!’
