I own the 50th Anniversary Boxed-set of the books, so I'm pretty sure it's this year...*goes to check*

Nevermind. ^^ The 50th Anniversary was apparently in 2004.

You might be able to still find the extended edition DVDs (and the 50th anniversary books) on amazon.com - I still need the extended edition of FotR...

Ah , I got the full set all at once, then again I got it when I was in China...still it works fine =P. I don't like buying things over amazon, its always so dodgy, and I don't like the "extra" costs, I really don't know how to check for those kinda things. Not to mention the long anticipating wait.
