OutsiderKrynn Portals, it was certainly different. Jeremy hadn't thought of anything like that when he had seen the fruit fall from the air. It was a unique talent, that was for sure. Jeremy was certain he'd see many more abilities, especially if the first person he talked to had an ability or two.
He smiled when she took his hand, and nodded in response. She was friendly enough at least, even if she had wanted some quiet to read. But it didn't really seem to matter much, with the monkey Jeremy doubted she'd be getting much quiet for now.
"Yeah, nice to meet you too. And uh...heh, yeah I guess the whole name thing is kinda funny huh? Especially with what I do and all. The whole shadow deal is kind of why they called me that. It kind of fits and I've gotten used to it anyway."
Shade moved back to his spot and sat, looking to the tv when Anna indicated the tv. "Not at all" he would reply, his attention being drawn to the tv for a moment.
Anna nodded. “Thanks.” Anne then turned her attention to the T.V. They were doing a retelling of Star. Anna sighed. “I hate that. Why can’t people live their own lives? Why do they have to disturb other people!” Anna then noticed a familiar face. It was the boy who gave her the monkey!
Anna pointed. “That’s the guy that gave me the monkey.” She turned and looked the monkey. She wondered if she would ever get rid of the damn thing.
Turned back to Shade. “So, what exactly is your power?” She asked, looking at the shadow that flickered around the room. It was interesting to see. Her bag and book were abandoned. ‘This is much more interesting then a book.’ Anna thought.

Jeremy would shake his head in response, it was something he was used to. It was true that his ability and his name were the same. Or at least, that's what he thought. It was why he had agined the name in the first place. So when new people learned of what he could do it wasn't much of a surprise when he told them his nickname. He usually got a laugh or a chuckle with it.
"Some people just don't know when to live their own lives. Or rather....they don't know how to. With all these celebrities and icons around, it's no wonder why they do things like this. It's kind of stupid...and yet sad really," Jeremy replied, turning his gaze from the tv back to Anna.
Jeremy looked to the person Anna had been pointing to, wondering just whether or not she would be rid of teh creature yet. Either way, he looked to the caged thing and then back to it's owner. His gaze finally trailed away and to his own shadow when Anna asked of his ability.
"What I can do, well, I'm sure you've already guessed it. You saw it zipping around the room when you first came in. To put it simply, I can manipulate and control shadows. Not just my own either, any shadow."
Jeremy let his own shadow slide forward across the floor, swirl around for a moment then return to his feet. To demonstrate, Shade would flick his wrist once more, and the shadow of the couch he'd been sitting on curled around and created a bird-like figure on the floor.
A snap of his fingers and the bird lifted into the air, suddenly becoming much darker and whole. A flap of wings and the shadowed bird flew about over top their heads for a moment before returning to the floor, becoming a shadow once again. The shadow returned to it's original shape and skirted across the floor back to the couch.
"Ta da," Jeremy would say aloud, as if he had just finished a trick.

“It is. It is really sad.” Anna shook her head and her black hair fell along her face. She pushed it aside and looked back at Shade. He was quite nice, and he didn’t seem to mind the bothersome monkey even though Anna did. He also didn’t seem to care that she laughed at his name. Anna was very glad at that.
“I mean, it would be interesting to meet them or see them in public but I mean, who needs to fawn over them. Why don’t they ever think of how the other person feels?” Anna nodded a bit. She then reached over for the remote and turned down the volume. She had found out what she wanted. She paused and then looked over at Shade. “Oh sorry. Did you want to watch it some more?”
Anna then looked at the monkey. “I really am thinking of just tossing him into a portal.” Anna sighed a bit. She saw that the monkey had finished the fruit and Anna walked over, opening a portal, giving him another one.
“So, after I get rid of it, want to take a tour around the campus?” Anna asked her voice was even. Some girls would get nervous and scared, but Anna wasn’t asking him on a date, she was asking him if he wanted to walk around with her. She did not consider that a date. Anna just hoped that Shade wouldn’t think she was kind of girl that dated guys then left them or what not. Anna had never really been in the dating scene.
Anna then watched the shadow and gasped. “Oh, that is amazing.” She said looking at it. “That truly was remarkable.” Anna said. She went over to her couch and picked up her umbrella during when the bird was flying. She thought of poking it but she decided not to. Her eyes showed how impressed she was. When he said ‘ta-da’ she laughed a bit and started to clap. “Wonderful execution.”
“I would show you a trick, but you’ve seen what I can do already.” Anna smiled.

Jeremy shook his head when asked if he had wanted to listen some more. He hadn't ben entirely focused on it, but had paid attention for a few moments when Anna had turned up the volume. It didn't matter how famous or how much of a celebrity you were. There would be people who liked you and people who didn't, it was just a shame that people had to do such things.
"Hahaha, well I'm sure you're tempted, but I'm sure that the owner wuldn't be too impressed if you did. Either way, it seems to be behaving himself now. For now anyway."
At the question Jeremy paused for a moment and thought on it. He really didn't know much of the campus, and would have to learn sooner or later. Not only that, but he wouldn't be alone, he'd have company as well. Nodding, Jeremy smiled once more giving a definite "Sure." as his response.
Delighted to see that she was enjoying his little show, Jeremy laughed lightly, and even stood up to take a bit of a bow when the shadow had returned to the couch. It was fun to entertain people from time to time.
"Glad you liked it. Most of the other people at my old school didn't find it much fun at all. Then again, I'm sure you have to have some sort of ability to be able to appreciate our gifts. So can you get anything you want with those...um, portals?"

Anna nodded and just turned of the T.V. Why waste the energy if you weren't going to watch it anyway. She sighed and returned to sitting on the couch opposite Shade.
"Yeah. He even said I could if I got too annoyed but I don't know what would happen to him if I threw him in one. I've had my fair share of monster encounters." She thought back to earlier in the day.
Anna smiled a bit. “Sounds great then!” She tilted her head and thought for a moment on what they might have on the campus. Maybe she might start to like it here. It didn’t seem too bad. She had made a few friends, but an enemy (ie. the monkey).
Anna laughed a bit as he bowed. Then she got a mischievous grin on her face and concentrated on him. She rose him off the ground a little, but then quickly put him back down. She started to laugh a little more but hoped she hadn’t scared him too much.
“Yeah, I know what you mean.” Anna frowned and thought back to her own mother abandoning her. How could her own flesh and blood reject her when a total stranger offered to take her in? A tear forced it’s way through Anna’s eye but she brushed it away quickly hoping Shade couldn’t see it.
Anna then thought for a moment and nodded. “Yes. Anything I want. I need to be able to see the item. Even a detailed description won’t work. I don’t know why though.” Anna shrugged a bit.

OniWriter21 Karu sighed. "Trying to disown i see." He sat back and pulled his mothers pendant from under his shirt. It was jade. "I never got a chance to say goodbye." He started to tear up. Hailey didn't know what to do. She didn't have much expierience with tears, because her friends always made fun of people who cried. She knew that whenever she cried, she didn't want people to hold her, she just wanted someone to be there and talk to her when she was done. Hailey walked over and sat beside Karu on the bed. She waited until the tears dried up, then asked, "Do you want to talk about her?" ((Sorry I wasn't on yesterday, but the new Harry Potter book came out, so....))
