Stargazer Lily, here. Unfortunately, I don't play any instruments ~ attempted to learn violin when I was in the 5th grade, but the instructor held back the entire class for the two slow-pokes that didn't practice. Repeating the same lesson for weeks on end just so these two could "catch up" cost him at least half of his students. Now of course I wish I'd stuck with it. gonk
Guess that makes me the appreciative audience. heart

hi blaugh ! thanks for inviting me. I'm Melissa. I play the violin ad the piano, but unfortunately my school only supports the band and there are no orchestras/symphonies. I've been practising violin for 8 years. Piano I've been playing for 11 years, and planning on majoring it once I get into college. I can truly say I love Liszt's work, because it's challenging and beautiful, to be able to create such complicated classical pieces, it's just marvelous.
My personality is different than what everyone thinks. Yes I can be pretty deep and controlled when it comes to music, but in my normal life, i'm just loud and obnoxious scream umm yeah! nice meeting everyone!!! ^0^!!!

Ehhhhh I forgot to introduce myself first. I was invited here by......a person.......whose name I cannot remember............lol
I'm Ryoukai (as seen by my name), and I am both a lover of classical music and a classical musician. I am a coloratura soprano and I'm majoring in vocal music education. I love Leonard Bernstein, Rachmaninoff, Schubert, Samuel Barber, Menotti, Verdi, and a lot of other composers I'm too distracted to list at the moment. Thanks for the invite to the guild, I'm excited to participate!
Also, I'm usually most active on Gaia in the summertime, when I'm not in school. So if I go AWOL in August or September that's why.....=/ (not that I plan it, it just sort of happens.

Hello. I play french horn. Started on viola when I was 6, then switched to horn when I was 10. I work in a wind orchestra but I'll still go to auditions once in a while - my boyfriend is a viola player and has a hard time finding work around here as the only professional ensemble is the one I work in - no strings... I also do auditions because I'd really like a job in a symphony orchestra - not that my own workplace isn't great but we don't get to play much Brahms and Mahler... That is all I can think of right now.

Hello! I am Maka (not my real name but you will have to do with it until I can trust you all). I play viola! GO VIOLAS!!! WE ARE AWESOME! As you can see I love violas! I have played viola for about 4 years. I really love it and want to keep playing. The only thing I don't like about playing a instrument is having to practice. xp I am stiil in middle school and am second chair viola out of 4 others. I don't really have a favorite composer or anything but I like a wide variety of music. I guess you could I say I play a little bit of everything. My instructer is leaving this year to go to a local high school and teach band and pit orchastra there. crying I will miss him (he is the best instructer I have had so far). The good thing is that on the last day of school the canidates for his job will come in and teach part of a lesson. We get to pick which one will be the instructer next year! smile
I was invited here by 'Kel and right now I am listening to Panic at The Disco. Don't know why I said that but well I just felt like saying that. K. I'm done blabbing (I do that a lot) now and will finish this reply.

Sweet guild.
Yo. You can call me by my username, or any half of my username. It's a song title by Sugarcult, but [obviously?] they're not classical so enough on them.
I play guitar [in the not-classical sort of way that everyone else knows how to play it], bass guitar, double bass, and I recently started fiddling with my friends' violins, so I know how those work too... (No pun intended there. >>;; ) I wish I knew how to play drums and trombone.
My main instrument is double bass, which I picked up kind of randomly about a year and a half ago [as of today's date], but since I'm going off to college, I have to figure out how I'm gonna keep playing since I don't actually own one... I own an electric, acoustic, and a bass guitar, as well as a keyboard that I have little idea of how to actually play, a basic and beat up woodwind instrument that I have yet to identify, and a ukulele, both of which I have NO idea how to play. xD
._. And I think I wrote too much. If you want to know anything else, feel free to ask though! ^^;;

Hellow ^^
I'm playing the piano for 8 years, started to play the guitar last year and I'm playing the clarinet in the marching orchestra for about 4 years. My whole family plays an instrument except for my brother. I was in the school choir and the towns choir. That's all you have to know for now ^_^

Why 'ello there! whee
I'm Mizu (Not my real name =P) And I've been playing the Violin for about five, almost six years now. I enjoy my orchestra class in my high school. We (as the Junior varsity class) are known as the 'Concert Strings'. The 'Varsity' is the 'Symphonic Strings'. I am sad because one of our directors is retiring after this year. I love the violin (even though I'm scared about learning three octive scales.... o_o; )
My favorite composer..... thats tricky.... i should of brought home my music..... uhm..... I do enjoy Josef Hayden (not entierly sure about how to spell his last name) But i do like his piece 'Andante'. Yea, now i have no idea what to ramble about..... so i shall end this reply...

If you want to know anything else, feel free to ask though! ^^;; For keeping up double bass in college: If you end up playing in a school ensemble, like orchestra or jazz band, or something, most schools will have some double basses available for the students to use. They understand how difficult it is to actually own and have to lug one of those around. 3nodding If you don't play in a school-run ensemble, you may run into a problem, because they like to be able to keep track of who is using the instruments so they know who to blame if they get damaged. Maybe make friends with someone in a school ensemble and convince them to trust you and let you use it?
