I mean, Sub lets the Pervertedness stay alive, Dub kills the pervertedness... Dubs don't ruin the anime, actually I prefer it because I don't like reading what they say. I don't need all the "pervertedness" anyway. I don't need to see nudie cartoon shots or cartoons fondling each other to get enjoyment out of my Anime...

I mean, Sub lets the Pervertedness stay alive, Dub kills the pervertedness... You OBVIOUSLY didn't see the Anime I had mentioned. Key The Metal Idol's dialog is a toss up. Sometimes the dub is better, and sometimes the sub is better. I know because I was watching the dub with subs on. PLUS I DO find that I enjoy the dubbed voice better. Also s-CRY-ed is THE SAME! They cut NOTHING out, and the voice actors and actresses just sounded like the subbed people if they were born American. In terms of dialog, that doesn't happen as much these days. Unless you're dealing with kids Anime, then you might be getting that ^^;

I'm getting quite the chuckle from this convo, since I'm currently watching Burst Angel with both Dub and Subs on, and the dialog is completely different nearly 90% of the time. In most places, they're simply saying the same thing in different ways, but now and then, they are actively changing some plotlines...it's sneaky how even though the action is the same, they can tell a very different story by simply tweaking the dialog... O.o

Yeah that is really interesting how they do that sometimes. I didn't watch s-cry-ed with both on, but from what I could remember, they seemed VERY similar. Like I said, there are SOME dubs that are actually good.
ALTHOUGH I would also say that MOST dubs aren't that great in comparison. sweatdrop

Dubs are just fine, they just tend to tell the story differently (voice actors, on the other hand, can be pretty awful). As I recall, the reason that dubs tell the story differently is because it is commonly viewed that the people who watch dubs are not that interested in Japanese culture, and are just dilettantes, per se...so most of the references to Japanese cultural, philosophical or religious points are left out of the dubs.
Subs, on the other hand, are generally considered to be for more "hardcore" anime watchers, who are expected to have some familiarity with Japanese culture, thus they are usually almost verbatim from the original dialog. 3nodding

And most of those that watch subs have no clue what they are saying even if they read it unless you're reading hard subs, for fan subs even official subs don't have the words ordered in the same sequence as they are spoken in. So understanding the fullness of the emotions in the spoken language is not obtainable from reading the subs even if you're fully engaged.

Well you would be surprised. Besides, I can read plenty fast, and I hardly even notice I'm reading subs. Therefore the emotion to me is expressed rather obviously for me to get. rolleyes
Also I'm not just talking about that, but also the quality of the voices and the voice acting as well...
Furthermore, I'm going to be gone to visit some family for a few days. Try not to let the place burn down without me gonk

You can understand the voices, the interpretation is probably at least approximate generally, and there's also the emotion and such behind all the characters. I mean it may not be an EXACT translation, but even if it's similar, you get a rather good idea from reading the text.
Heck I bet if you wore a t-shirt that said "I hate Mexico" in Mexican in Mexico, you can be damn near sure you'd be able to tell if someone wanted to kick your a** before they threw a punch at your face blaugh

For its not approximate, Japanese is spoken and written in a completely different syntax then English so any subs except hardsubs are even close to approximate...
