[FIN] Finish the Promise

As Rosie quickly dissolved into tears and Luke seemed to pull himself together to respond, Sera drew her hand away and simply watched. Quite a few times now she had asked herself what Rosie would do in a situation in which emotional support was needed, and she had guessed as best she could in those situations. Now, though, was faced with one of those and was witnessing just how Rosie would react - and she found that her own reaction was inherently different. Where Rosie fell to tears, Sera stubbornly avoided them even more because what good would that do? Except it appeared do be doing a lot of good, or at least enough for their friend.

It left the girl feeling confused and a little put out, feeling very much like a third or extra person in the situation - either unneeded or as if she were trying to help when it wasn't needed or appreciated; they were both there to help and support their friend, but so far she had been feeling like no matter how hard she tried, Rosie was always infinitely better at this sort of thing. She wasn't going to give up though, not even close - they were her best friends, and they were stuck with her whether they liked it or not, and she would always be there to help and support them if they needed it. At the moment though, she was left rather uncertain if she was needed or not, so she remained kneeling there with a quiet look of concern.

She tried to blinked away the continuous tears she found herself staring into a pare of green eyes, familiar greens eyes. a little more of her weight was dropped back, against her legs, though she didn't let go.
"I c-couldn't lose you." She half breathed through a heavily wavering voice, her words coming out in small gasps as she tried to reign herself back. "I j- just-"

Mockingly the memory of Yuri warning him against making the girls cry surfaced in his thoughts, as well as memories of the heartless apathy with which he had responded. Gently he moved to return the embrace, somehow managing to coax his voice to remain mild. "It's okay," he repeated. "I'm sorry. I'm not… thinking right. It'll be fine." He tightened his arms briefly before leaning back to look to Seraphine, his expression deeply helpless and in search anything she could offer to help calm Rosie. Damn his stupid head and his stupid, stupid thoughts.

"Yuuuuuriii Looooowelll! Is that you?!" Came a harsh voice from just up the road, a light being seen in that direction.

"I say, show yourself criminal!" came another.

Some muttered expletives could be heard nearby. "Dammit, not those two. C'mon guys this isn't the place for this!" That being Yuri who could hardly be seen in the dark, barely lit streets of the Lower Quarter. Man, he'd just wanted to sleep. What had possessed these guys to just come out into the street and start crying all over the place?

Sera would have been content to remain sitting and waiting for them to feel better and for Rosie to stop crying, still feeling a little out of place and unneeded - until Luke looked at her with an expression that looked even more helpless than she felt. Startled a little, the brunette opened her mouth to speak but closed it, then turned to Rosie and leaned over to wrap her arms around the girls shoulders. "Rosie stop worrying," she said, completely unsure of how to help and still feeling largely uhelpful, but if Luke wasn't going to help... "He's gonna be fine, don't worry. We found him and he's fine and we're all going back to Kodo, everything will be fine once we get home--"

She jumped a little at the sudden yells from unfamiliar voices, as well as Yuri's unfortunately familiar voice saying this wasn't a good place. Probably not the best time either, and rather than wait for Luke and Rosie to respond, Sera quickly pushed herself to her feet and pulled on Rosie before reaching to grab Luke's arm to help him up. "What now?" s**t s**t s**t s**t s**t.

If anyone was being unhelpful Rosie felt like she was taking the cake right now, Letting her fear get the best of her like this. She just didn't expect what she had heard, and her emotions got the better of her.
Luke's words were not missed by her though, she heard them, and she believed them. So even though she wasn't sure what to say, she nodded into his shoulder before she felt Sera's arm around her shoulder as well, her Friends voice coaxing Rosie further out of the terrible weakness that had taken her over.

"O-okay" Rosie said with a nod, blinking her eyes and trying not to be a sobbing mess anymore. "I'm s sorry I j just-"

Other voices broke through the night, ones she didn't recognize, followed by another that they did.
Sera had tugged on Rosie, encouraging her to get back to her feet, while Sera asked the question that they were all wondering. Yuri's words too... reminded them of where they were once again.

The unfamiliar shouts were a sharp reminder of the larger nature of the circumstances surrounding them, and it didn't take much prompting for Luke to push to his feet, accepting Seraphine's assistance in doing so. It sounded like maybe they hadn't been spotted yet given that the strangers were specifically calling after Yuri - why was he not surprised that Yuri was once again lurking conveniently nearby? - so maybe they could just hide, or… Damn it, why were they being treated like criminals over this in the first place? It was Luke's own decision to leave the manor. Did he no longer have rights over his own life?

And suddenly Yuri was there next to them, looking in the direction of the voices.

"C'mon, back to the room," he told them calmly yet with urgency.

"We're gonna catch you this time, Yuri Lowell!" one of the voices said again.

"I say, that's right! ... Ow my toe!"

Yuri just heaved a dramatic, exasperated sigh.

"Um, okay," Sera replied as she glanced around. They hadn't gone too far though, had they? She wasn't sure she even paid attention to what the building looked like, let alone which door it was, but still she grabbed Rosie's arm in one hand and Luke's in the other to pull them back the way they came. Ugh this was getting to be so stupid.

Rosie stepped closer to her friends, looking over at Yuri as he suddenly appeared next to them, though she was again drawn tot he voices that were coming from down the street.
Who were they? obvious they knew Yuri. But right now getting back to the room might have been the better option for now. once inside maybe when she could clear her hear, she would ask.

"This is stupid," Luke muttered, putting voice to Seraphine's sentiments on the matter. "I should just go back and talk to my father…" From first impressions, the people pursuing them didn't sound especially competent, but it was the principle of the thing. Of course the probability of his father listening to him now wasn't much better than it had been before, but still, the thought that his friends were being incriminated because of him, or because of his family…

"And do what, get locked up again? Yeah, that's not happening," Yuri told Luke firmly. "We're not losing you, all right?"

He'd already gone through all this trouble to get Luke out of there, dammit. He probably wouldn't be able to pull it off a second time.

However, he lead the way back up to inn and the rooms again, waiting at the bottom of the stairs until the others were out of sight. Him and Repede then retreated as well, just before the two soldiers went running.

"No you shouldn't -- and no we're not," Sera replied as she held Luke's arm firmly, as if he intended to turn and go back to his father right then. She didn't even bother to address the fact she had just agreed with Yuri without hesitation of any sort. "We'll figure s**t out tomorrow." That said as she was damn well the first one back in that room because holy s**t this was all so messed up - though she didn't let go of Luke's arm until they were safe inside the inn once more because nnnNO.

Yuri had herded them in the right direction, getting them back into the Inn, where Rosie remained with her two friends.
She had been startled when Yuri said he should talk to his dad, but it was Yuri and Sera's quick replies that shot down Luke's suggestion, in the grounds that he might be taken away again.
Rosie agreed, tightening her grip on his arm as well.
"W-we will." She said, agreeing with Sera, her emotions still not quiet in check.

The quick refusal of Luke's suggestion left him feeling somewhat helpless about the whole situation, but it was also somehow just a little warming, and he resigned with a quiet "okay." He moved with the small group - not that he had much of a choice, given the hands pulling him along by his arms - back towards the room they'd come from.
