-shrugs- that's how everyone feels when they learn this, I'm pretty sure. But you get used to it, or not.

UkyoKuonji2004 That guy mentioned 9/11 too. He said it was the biggest waste of blood he has ever seen, since not many people from the incident needed transfusions. Thousands of bags of blood were destroyed because of that day. It's still in our(frequently updated) notes that the US still pays people to donate. Whether that's only in certain states or not I don't know. I know if you put $ on blood products, it costs $65 Canadian for a normal bag of blood, and for special kinds(with special antigens) the price goes up to over $300. The top part is unfortunantly very true... But in our defense we expected a lot more survivors then there were. As for the second part. I have never been paid for my blood, so I'm a very firm believer in the fact that we are not paid for it.

You expected hundreds of thousands of survivors? O_O
Canada for sure does not pay for donations. Canadian Blood Services takes care of every blood transfusion in the country and I'm certain they would never pay. If they ever did, it would be to someone who has some very rare antigens or something.

I donated blood once, i was a walk in for the high schools blood drive, and was last person in there. i gave my blood, they began to pack, and about ten minutes later, their like "you wanna go ahead and go back to class?" Cause i was last person sittin gthere, right? "Ya, sure." The lady looked at the oreo's i was nomming, and asked "You just wanna take the leftover cookies and stuff with ya." My eyes got wide, i said. "Are you kidding? free cookies? who would decline?!?" I then picked up the four things of opened and partially eaten cookies, walked to art, the last class of the day, and was hailed as a hero by my small group of friends who encircled me and nommed my cookies... those bastards...
