[FIN] Calling the Shot

"Yep, now I know," Yuri repeated as he turned over to lay on his back with his arms folded behind his head. His black eyes staring at the ceiling. Yeah... this was pretty comfy. And the fire was warm. And he was in good company. Couldn't get much better than this... could it?"

She watched quietly as he turned over onto his back, and stayed quiet for the next few minutes, just watching him.

Then, as the fire crackled in the background, throwing soft light over both of them as they lay close, the girl slid even closer in her cocoon of blankets and picked absently at his sleeve.

He continued to watch the ceiling, allowing himself to be immersed in his own thoughts that were swimming around in his alcohol influenced brain. However, when he felt her poking at his sleeve, he blinked and turned to look at Dove again.

"Huh? What is it?"

She blinked when he turned to her, but softened, her cheeks red as their noses almost brushed thanks to their close proximity.

"Nothing..." she sighed, pausing, before moving to snuggle even closer. Cooooommmmffffyyyyyyyyyy.

Yuri's eyes blinked owlishly when he realized just how closer their proximity was becoming. Dark eyes looking back at her contemplatively as he studied her face and the way she was blushing.

"Nothing huh?" he said, the corner of his mouth twitching a little bit. "Yeah right."

And now she was getting closer... and his hazy mind thought back to earlier that evening. And before he knew it, found himself moving in to brush his lips against her.

She grinned at his words, but widened her eyes when he kissed her, actually surprised through the haze--more like wall-- of inebriation. However, the atmosphere and scene she found herself in was calming, warming, and in no time, she returned the affection, though she let him continue to lead.

Encouraged by her reciprocation, Yuri pressed his lips against hers with more emphasis. His confidence easily building as he moved closer and put an arm around the bundled up girl.

It had been quite awhile since he'd done this sort of thing, and well... it wasn't bad. Not bad at all.

With his further emphasis, the girl continued to let him lead, and allowed and returned his affections eagerly, though she stayed soft and warm, enjoying the attention in her drunken state, especially with the weight of his arm around her.

Though she stayed in her bundle, her hands curled up to her chest under the blanket, she kissed him a long while, before pulling away for breath, her eyes low and her cheeks red. " 'S like in the movies..."

For a few moments, Yuri lost himself in the attentions of a woman who seemed genuinely interested. His thoughts starting to go directions it might not normally and his kisses started to get more intimate.

However, when she pulled away, her words gave him pause.

"Yeah..." he said quietly. He stared at her for a moment before sitting up.

She stayed curled in her ball, though his pause and the way he spoke made her face fall and her eyes widen a little. Uh oh. She did a bad thiiiing.

She rolled over and struggled to push herself up as well, her head swimmy. He was a good kisser. She was a good kisser. Maybe it had been her comment about the movies...

With a soft, almost silent gasp, she looked at him. Did he think? Nooooo, probably not. Did she think? Maybe she did.. but she didn't. Buuut she did...n't.

Whatever he was thinking, it made her feel bad that she was probably the cause of it, and she drew in on herself, making herself as little as possible before rolling back onto her side, this time, setting her forehead to his leg.

This wasn't right. Yuri knew it despite the fact that he was a little drunk. She was really drunk, and to keep going would be taking advantage of that. He wasn't that kind of guy. And he knew she wasn't that kind of girl, either. Not normally anyway. Last thing he wanted was to do something they'd both end up regretting.

After sitting there and thinking for a few moments, he turned to look back at Dove only to see her all curled up with her face against his leg.

"Hey, you okay?"

On any other occasion-when she wasn't floundering in drunken silliness-- Dove would have been humiliated by her actions, likely unable to even face the man at her side. She would regret a sloppily made decision like that... Even if she had previously told herself she absolutely would not.

For now, however, she continued to think very unlike herself, at least, she would later claim, and answered his question only with a nod of her head, though she snuggled a little closer again.

"Okay...." Yuri said, a bit puzzled by what she was doing. But he didn't seem to mind it too much, even as she tried to snuggle up to him. He just kinda sat there and let it happen. Neither discouraging nor encouraging the drunken girl's behavior.

When he didn't move, she only looked at him, confused and hurt. "No more cuddling...?" she asked timidly, still flopped over next to him. With another bit of a struggle, she pushed herself upright again, though this time, both the blanket and the t-shirt slid, the blanket to the floor and the shirt off one side, exposing her shoulder, and her eyes searched his face, large and doe like.

Yuri blinked at her question, pulled out of his muddled thoughts. When her shirt slid down her shoulder though, he looked away with a faint blush on his cheeks.

"Sorry, I was just thinking," he told her honestly.
