"Hmm," was all Imiar said in response, though her mind was reeling. A traitor, huh? What is he to Ukitake, and what does the scar mean? Experiments on time travel? Could he have met me in my past and I forgot him? Or... would I meet him for the first time in the future? And what of the actual Kyvanus? She worried for the sun elf. That ninja had definitely seemed a little addled in the brain... With all of these thoughts and more circling her mind, she almost forgot to be embarrassed when Ukitake picked her up. She returned his gaze, unable to stifle the heat that rose to her cheeks. She really wanted to talk about these things now but, her resolve was slowly wavering the longer she looked at him.

((That's alright! It's about almost 10pm here so I have a bit of time before I hit the hay smile Night! ))

He gently placed her down on the couch as he made his way into the 'kitchen'. It had been a long day, but much had happened. Ukitake took off his mask and his forehead protector, and started to prepare tea. She would like this. he thought to himself.

Imiar sat up on the couch and watched him make tea. She was grateful that he'd thought to make some. However, with the absence of her embarrassment, she felt the need to bring up her questions once more:

"Ukitake, I know you think these questions can wait, but I am very worried. Is that other ninja particularly strong? He would have to be to do damage to Kyvanus, but..." She trailed off briefly, remembering something else, "And how did I not recognize that that was not actually Kyvanus? I should have known." She smiled grimly, "He would be disappointed in me." She almost wished that the sun elf could be there, lecturing her about her inattentiveness. Then, at least, she could be sure he was alright.

Ukitake finished making the tea, pouring in some elvish honey in to sweeten the taste. He bought over a cup to Imiar as he sat next to her on the couch.

"He's dangerous, but particularly scary. I'd say he's about as strong as I am."

He sighed, as he took a sip of his own cup of tea.

"Ninjas have the ability to transform, as you have seen with me turning into a dark elf. We are specialists in deceit. When battling a ninja, you must look underneath the underneath..."

Ukitake stopped talking for a moment as he thought of something that would shatter Imiar's perception of the sun elf.

"Imiar..., that elf existed when I was here over fifty years ago. I'm not sure that is the same Kyvanus during my time. The ninja you encountered may have been a fake elf all along."

Oh Zaraki... we'd just have to meet again. Fate wouldn't allow it any other way.
((Apologies for the late response. I've had a very eventful weekend. @__@))

Imiar sipped her tea, though the calm that normally washed over her did not descend. Her mouth was set in a hard line. Ukitake's words had almost made her shatter her cup in her vice-like grip; she did not take deceit lightly, considering it was that which caused her own family to drive her away. She could handle a lot of terrible things, but not being deceived.

That psycho was Kyvanus the whole time? Her mind had been reeling for so long that this was just one more thought added to the tornado that was her brain--it was almost like a blender, her thoughts becoming jumbled because of the sheer amount of questions she had. If that is true, he knows much about me, and I know very little about him. That is not a position I am used to, and it is not a good position to be in.

She'd remained silent the entire time, only having taken a small sip of her tea. Finally she turned to Ukitake, saying "I need you to tell me what you can about him. I am not comfortable knowing so little about my opponent while he knows so much of me." Her eyes were scorching with the intensity of a true bounty hunter. She'd placed her own bounty on the head of that ninja, and she was definitely going to collect.

Ukitake took a deep breath in before beginning to explain.

"Zaraki was a fellow classmate of mine, before he went rouge after his experiments caused him fame and scrutiny. He was able to travel through time for about an hour before or an hour after the present time back then.

I was sent on a mission to retrieve him from his laboratory, much to my disdain. It pained me to capture him, but I was on village orders. I managed to secure him, but not without a bloodbath. I caused the scar on his right eye, which he has held against me ever since. The last time I heard of him, he was in our top security prison. I suppose he managed to wiggle his way out of that.

As for combat, we are about equally matched. He hasn't tried to use time travel in our battles yet, but if he does, I'm not so sure we'd be even."

He took another breath while sipping on his tea. It was rather relieving to know another ninja existed, but time travel bothered him. How would he go about fighting this great enemy?

Imiar listened intently to all of the information she was given, taking another sip of her tea. She thoroughly scanned the information for anything glaringly important before she locked it away for future reference.

Her eyes were still burning when she smirked at Ukitake, "If--when it comes to a fight, you leave his pesky time travel to me. He won't be able to stay away from us for long." She took another sip of tea, a larger one this time. Yes, the thought of a time-travelling enemy made her nervous, but she could easily tag him with her magic. It would burn and burn until she made it stop, and she would only do so when he rejoined them in time. The only other way to stop her magic is if she was killed, which would never happen by the likes of this Zaraki.

The tea was finally beginning to take effect. She could feel herself becoming tired little by little, but fought it off. She was not yet ready to retire for the night. After she quickly finished off her tea, she rose and approached the door of the small hut, placing a hand on it and closing her eyes. She hadn't had to do this in a long time, and it took a moment for her wards to become fully effective. No one could enter within a two mile radius of this residence without her being awakened--enough time to prepare for battle or flee. Even then, there was a strong seal over the exterior, preventing entry. It might have been overkill, but she refused to take any chances. It would sap much of her strength to keep this up overnight, but she would recover enough in her sleep to function the next day.

He smiled as he finished his tea. She was always confident in her abilities, and had every right to do so. Ukitake let out a small sigh as he went to the kitchen to clean up after himself, washing the cup and putting it away.

Ukitake came back as he poked Imiar's armor from behind. "Shouldn't you be taking this off?" he teased.

Imiar opened her eyes and stepped back from the door--satisfied that her spells were properly in place and activated.

When she felt the poke on her armor and heard his teasing, she turned to him, grinning scandalously. "Why? Wanting to take a peek?" She winked before sashaying past him, heading to her wardrobe to do just as he'd suggested. She pulled out the sleeping gown that had been her mother's many years ago, staring at it for a while.

He let out a small laugh before grinning mischievously.

Ukitake took off the shift that was under his ninja vest, revealing a light fishnet shirt. It was comfortable in warmer weathers like the desert. The Hidden Gaia, as the name suggests was a very mountainous environment, with plenty of sun to go around.

He walked to where Imiar was, watching as she examined her mother's sleeping gown.

"You always wear that", he commented with a slight grin.

Imiar tore her gaze away from the garment to look at Ukitake, smiling at him. "I do. It was my mother's last present to me. This sleeping gown has been passed down through the generations, starting with my mother's great grandmother. It's an odd tradition to have, but I am grateful for it anyway."

Speaking of traditions... Her face went blank for a moment in thought, as she sat the gown back down on the shelf of the wardrobe. When her eyes refocused on Ukitake, she asked, "Do you have that necklace I gave you earlier?" Heedless of his presence, she began to remove segments of her armor, revealing the chainmail underneath. It always felt nice to take the burden off of her shoulders in the evenings.

He nodded as he reached into his pockets, and handed the necklace over to her. It glistened even without the presence of light.

Ukitake's cheeks turned slightly red as she began to undress. He hadn't realized how comfortable he'd gotten with her, and she with him.

He clapped his hands together while forming a seal. A clone was formed in a puff of smoke, heading outwards to the entrance.

"He's going to watch the exterior of the house, just in case" he said as a matter of fact.

Imiar took the necklace from him, holding it gingerly.

"It was my brother's," She began quietly, "He gave it to me when I spoke my first word--his name... We were very close. Sometimes I still miss him." She lifted the chain over her head, letting the cool metal fall around her neck once more.

Looking back at him, she noticed his blush. She resisted the urge to laugh, though she couldn't hide her smile.

She observed carefully as he made his clone, pulling her chain mail off and replacing it with the sleeping gown in one smooth motion.

"Unnecessary," She said simply in response, waving her hand. Though not unappreciated, she added mentally, her heart warming at Ukitake's willingness to help.

He simply nodded at her description of the necklace. Not having any siblings left Ukitake lacking the ability to understand brotherly love, but he knew he meant much to her.

He arched an eyebrow at her immediate replacement of chain mail to sleeping gown. All this time Ukitake thought he was flashy, but she was just as much.

Ukitake chuckled playfully at her response. "Nothing like extra protection."

The ninja walked towards the kitchen, attempting to prepare 'dinner' which was just more bread and elvish jam. He wondered how on earth elves survived on this diet.

Imiar hmm'ed softly at Ukitake's voice, watching him prepare a dinner. She knew he must already be missing meat. She walked over to him, observing his motions. He had surprising dexterity for one who'd been frozen in ice for the past however many years.

She laid a hand on his shoulder, "Whether we stay here in the desert or move on, we will buy you some meat tomorrow. If you wish it, that is." Grabbing one of the finished pieces of toast and taking a bite, she moved her eyes from his work to his face, memorizing it. She decided she wouldn't want to forget this time she'd had with him, no matter how hectic and emotional it'd been. She genuinely enjoyed his company, and was so glad she'd freed him from his icy prison.
