"Nono! It was an honor to have you shadow my first class! It actually kept me from panicking since it began." Makoto replied to Gannon's words, smiling to himself as he gave a report on his teaching for the day. He even agreed, it would need some work but it was much better than what he had imagined inside of his mind. "Thank you, Gannon. I'll try and put together a better plan for the next Knit Day, I assure you. I was actually wondering if-" The teacher began before Kayl's presence graced both adults, requesting to speak with him. The pink haired teacher would turn to face the young student, a smile ever pleasant on his face. "Sure! What would we need to talk about, Kayl? And call me Makoto, if you wish." He offered the noble, leaning back in his seat.
Kayl's words certainly surprised him, to say the very least. As he spun his tale of how his raiment was unknown to anyone, including himself, the teacher would purse his lips and gently raising his fingers to fiddles with his hair. It certainly does sound like quite the predicament the poor boy has going for himself. Truly, if Gannon was quite aware of this situation with a former student, it certainly was something serious for both himself and Kayl. After all, a teacher cared for each one of his students. At least, that's what Makoto thought of himself. Concluding his point, he furrowed his brows in thought as Gannon would begin to speak as well, and not in that usual tone but one that even sent shivers down Makoto's spine as well. It was his court mage tone when there was an announcement or something that needed to be made. The court mage once professor would begin to somewhat ease him up before he scolded him for his truancy, a revelation that brought a good amount of suspicion to the professor's mind. Makoto would continue to remain silent as Kayl would be told off by her colleague. He felt sorry for the boy, not only because of this awkward situation but because of the position of not possessing an innate power in a world and setting where such a thing was commonplace.
Gannon would finish and look to him for his judgement, Makoto looking between the two. He did bring up some very valid points against Kayl, ones that shouldn't just be thrown under the rug because of this as well. "Well, given the charges and such against you, my little noble..." He looked at Kayl would understanding eyes, reaching to gently place his right hand on the boy's shoulder. "I think Gannon does have a very strong case against you. I can't understand what it must feel like to be in your position, but I do emphasize with your plight. Unfortunately, I will want you to still pair up with Miss Lelyna and complete the assignment alongside her. I am trusting of your former professor when he says that she will keep your secret between them." Makoto would take a step closer and wave off a few students as they left. "If you cannot find common ground, then tell me what you know of your raiment. What it does, what you know how to do. Enough so that I can understand it. I'll also be working alongside Gannon and you to help you with your raiment, taking Elohari's place, if you two have no quarrels. "
On that note, Makoto would begin down the stairs towards his desk to collect his bags and such, smiling up at Kayl once more before his feet took him back to where the noble was standing. Moving his hands down to grab Kayl's, he would smiled genuinely and would fold them over his own. "If you EVER need anything, or somebody tries to make you feel lesser for your raiment, I want you to come and find me. Under no circumstance will a student of mine be ridiculed for something out of their control. Promise me?" He asked Kayl. Regardless of the answer, Makoto would smile and offer him a hug before waving to the remaining people, making his way out.

Looking up briefly when Gannon cut in to speak with Kayl, his eyes narrowed somewhat at the words that were being spoken. 'Hesitant?...' Kayl repeated in his mind as he started to wonder if Gannon had an inkling of the reason that Kayl was to keep this secret in the first place. As he continued to speak on it, Kayl started to get the feel that Gannon believed that Kayl was keeping his raiment's 'problem' a secret because of its shortcomings, or rather, because he was ashamed to tell others. Kayl shifted his head slightly as if he was shaking his head 'no' briefly as he sat straight up, looking at Gannon with slight confusion in his gaze. "Progress?," Kayl repeated back almost in scoff, his voice discerning that he disagreed with Gannon on what he might have been calling 'progress'. Before Kayl could retort on the subject however, Gannon had moved onto another topic, now regarding the class as a whole, and how limiting this assignment would become to other students. This made Kayl stop in his tracks as he looked over at Lelyna now, his eyes easing as he thought about Lelyna being stuck working alone.
Although Kayl doubted that their new teacher would actually keep the assignment exactly the same, leaving his student in that predicament, he still felt a pang of guilt towards the possibility. Seeing as Gannon was speaking now for the students of the whole class, Kayl understood the position that Gannon was coming from. But on the same token, Kayl felt that Gannon's very position was the thing that was keeping him from holding an objective view on Kayl's solitary issue, an objective view that would ensure placing the proper responsibilities on the proper shoulders. After all, anything having to do with other students in the classroom was not Kayl's responsibility, whether it was fair or unfair. Of course he wasn't dull to the position Lelyna would be put in if that was the case, and he empathized deeply, which had him started on thoughts of whether or not he could find a way to at least work with Lelyna, someone he had come to care for very much. However regardless of what he had started to consider, Kayl still didn't like that it seemed as though this situation was being placed on him, as if he was doing something wrong. Kayl almost spoke up in defiance at this, however unlike when he spoke out earlier he held his tongue as he didn't want to respond in such a way that was typical of his family. Kayl respected Gannon greatly, and chose to listen to him in his entirety before speaking.
As Gannon continued on to his next words, Kayl's eyes actually widened a bit in surprise at his last words. With mention of his opinion on the matter, and using his absences as a stance, he spoke of making something mandatory that could potentially reveal his secret, something that he was already given permission to keep suppressed. At that Kayl felt somewhat urked and disappointed. His gaze fell upon the ground for a brief moment as he felt a bit peeved and impatient and he took a deep breath to calm himself from speaking out and saying something in anger. As he calmed himself, the new teacher then spoke and almost immediately Kayl let out another word. "Charges?," Kayl let out in retort, repeating the single word subconsciously as he instinctually ducked Makoto's outreached arm. Stepping back and dodging her hand completely as he looked at the teacher with slight disdain, he continued to listen to Makoto as she spoke, and again words were spoken that made Kayl fell like he was being accused. When Matoko finally spoke of her decision, saying that she expected him to pair up with Lelyna in order to finish the assignment. Kayl's eyes narrowed as she spoke of Lelyna being 'trustworthy' and he became almost unnaturally calm.
When Makoto finished speaking, giving his thoughts on what Kayl could reference for his assignment, and then speaking on offering aid to Kayl should ever feel ridiculed, Kayl finally broke his silence and spoke up. "Ridiculed? Ms Makoto, I believe you may be misunderstanding something," He said as he pushed his hands downward and out of Makoto's hands, some of his annoyance actually slipping out a bit as he spoke, which would be completely unnerving since he was still so calm. "Whether or not Lelyna is 'trustworthy' or any other for that matter was never an issue to begin with," Kayl said in retort, looking at Gannon for a moment with a stern face before looking back at Makoto. "You know nothing of my thoughts of others or of Lelyna. She is my friend, and is easily the most trusting person I could have ever met," Kayl said with a soft voice as he answered their words regarding whether or not Kayl could trust her. "However, what you seem to have failed to realize, is that with all due respect Ms. Makoto, Lord Gannon, whether or not I share my plight with another is not something that you get to decide!..." Kayl said before going quiet again, and looking at the ground with a frown before letting out two subtle quiet words. "... or me,"
A moment of silence overtook them as Kayl peered at the floor, his annoyance fading as he took another breath. His last words would be especially unsettling if Gannon or even Makoto heard them. Perhaps they would even reveal to Gannon, if he hadn't suspected it already, that there was much more to the secrecy of Kayl's raiment then simple embarrassment, or shame. Even if it seemed trivial, or menial to them, they could not dismiss what something 'trivial' could mean to someone else, and Kayl's words could discern that there might have been more to Kayl's secret, then just the secret itself. Taking just another moment, Kayl looked up to them both and lowered his head once more as he eased up and returned to his normal composure. "I apologize and rescind my reckless request, perhaps I jumped the wagon before considering all of my options. I would of course be happy to work with Lelyna, should she have me as a partner, but know this," Kayl said while lifting his head once more and standing tall. "I cannot answer a question that no one knows the answer to, so I wouldn't expect too much of my side of this assignment," Kayl said with a slight sigh as he straightened up and took on the noble composure that he normally held. "But I will try my best..."
A few moments later, Kayl would bow to them both, although he had said what could be construed as harsh words, he wanted them to know that he still greatly respected them, and would try his best to live up to their expectations. Turning away from them now, Kayl walked back to the students desks and stepped in front of Lelyna before reaching down and taking one of her hands. "I'm back Lelyna, shall we?" He said before escorting her to the door, and opening it for her. As they stepped out, Kayl brought his hand up to the back of his head and spoke. "Soooo, about this assignment..."
Lelyna sat in her old classroom, her hands folded in her lap. As the Teaching Assistant, she would be expected to help manage the class and the students. Seeing as how the class still needed a Professor, she suspected that she would be doing a lot of work in the coming months…Not that she minded, as far as she knew, there would only be two students; Kayl and Erika. Kayl, her friend and brother, wouldn’t be hard to tutor, but Erika, well Erika was new to the Academy so there was no telling how much attention she would need as a student.
Seated at the front of the class, in a chair next to the main desk, Lelyna waited patiently for the students and the substitute teacher to arrive. She suspected that Gannon would continue to substitute until a replacement could be found – it was only logical after all. Thus, she waited patiently in silence, her eyes closed, her breathing even. To anyone who entered the room, they might suspect that Lelyna was sleeping, when in fact, she was simply waiting patiently, whilst shuffling through some random memories she’d recently acquired…
Yawning lazily as he walked through the door, Kayl stretched his arms lightly letting the door close behind him as he stepped into the Diviner classroom. As if he had been sleepwalking, he rubbed his eyes a bit before looking out over the room, and then they went wide when he found no one there. The student seats were all empty, not a single student. 'Uhhhhh...' Kayl's mind went blank for a moment as he tried to figure out what he did wrong. Did he mistake the time? Did he completely miss the class? Was the class moved to another classroom? Perhaps they went outside for the day? But as he was pondering these things scanning from the students seats to the desk, he then caught Lelyna out of the corner of his eye, sitting patiently in the corner of the room off to the side of the teacher's desk. "H-hi... Good morning, L..." Kayl said while walking over to her and rubbing the back of his head in slight embarrassment over his state of mind just then, not that anyone had seen it.
"So, it seems we are the only ones here, are we expecting any more?" Kayl asked out of curiosity. He looked to the teacher's desk as well, and though it strange that he had gotten to class earlier then Gannon. "Either everyone is running late, or I am MUCH earlier then I thought I was..." Kayl said with a light chuckle as he took the nearest seat at the front of the class so that he could converse with his sister more easily. "I'm surprised, I wouldn't have expected for Gannon to be late, must have really been busy with all of the new school year prep," Kayl said in speculation, assuming that since no Diviner teacher was introduced at the ceremony, that Gannon would again be taking over the Diviner classroom. "How are you Lelyna?" He asked her, wanting to know how she was since he left her at the ceremony the night before. "I'm sorry about yesterday, I trust Mikhail filled you in?"
Lelyna had been deeply engrossed in shuffling through her memories when Kayl walked in. Given how quiet he was being as he walked through the room. He seemed a bit surprised to see her, maybe a little nervous too, which was odd.
“Good Morning, Kayl…” Lelyna said with a small smile. “I believe there is one more student, a first year…” She wasn’t one hundred percent sure, but she thought the new student was a female. “I’m not sure where Gannon is…maybe he got caught up with something? He does have a lot on his plate…” One had to wonder if some of Gannon’s work load would shift over to the new court mage – one could only hope.
Hearing Kayl’s question, she smiled. “I am well, Kayl…thank you for asking. But I was worried about you…Mikhail told me everything.” Lelyna said with a small frown. “There is no need to apologize…I know that with your raiment, sometimes you can’t help the reactions that you have, Kayl.” But one had to wonder why he’d reacted to seeing Rhysian. “Do you know Lord Rhysian very well?” Lelyna had no idea what a loaded question that was…

Adjusting to the new life was a bit harder than she thought, but she had to do it sometime. Erika studied the campus and to see if there was any elective classes she could take now or even later. Maybe not when she is a first year, so there would be questions about her classes and dorm options. Were their jobs she could get and what she could do and not do as a first year or any. Maybe she would make friends, but she didn't want to initiate anything fearing she may be considered annoying or something. She waved it off and tried to get some rest.
Oh no. This didn't look good. She woke up ten minutes later than she was supposed to. Tardiness wasn't her thing and she didn't want that to be the first impression on her teachers or fellow students. Erika winced at the thought of it. Once there, she made herself a bit more presentable and walked in with a soft smile, "Hello. Please forgive my tardiness. Oh, am I interrupting something?" She asked, pointing behind her. She didn't see any other student besides her, so knowing if the other two were students or teachers were a bit of a guess for her.

"Oh? So it's not just going to be us huh? That's probably good," Kayl said bringin his hand up and rubbing the back of his head once more. Although he didn't feel embarrassed at the prospect that his sister graduated before him, it would have likely been strange for him being the only student in the class. Although on the other hand, they could have spent an additional amount of time figuring out his raiment. With that thought in mind he answered her next question. "Lord Rhysian, honestly? Lelyna, I have never heard of a Rhysian in my family, I don't know him at all," Kayl said with slight concern. "That's not to say he isn't who he says he is, I just don't personally know him, which is why it was so weird that those memories suddenly came to me like that" Kayl said while standing beside Lelyna and sighing lightly. "Well actually, in regards to my raiment, that is something I wanted to discuss with you, since strangely, these memories that suddenly appeared were very similar to..." At that suddenly the door opened and another student came into the room. Kayl dropped his sentence immediately, looking to the door to see who it was and didn't continue speaking.
When the new student entered and spoke to them, Kayl nudged Lelyna lightly before stepping to her. "Oh no, it's alright," Kayl said while stepping over to the new girl. "Welcome, you must be the new student. I am Kayl, Kayl De'Valaer, 2nd year and fellow classmate. Class hasn't actually started yet, as the professor has not arrived, however our classes Teaching Assistance, Ms. Lelyna Thaniels, is here as well, and we were just making small talk." Kayl said with a smile to ease the tensions of the new student being late. "Might I have the pleasure of your na..." Before Kayl could finish his question, the door popped open again however as another started to step into the room.

Opening the door to the Diviner Classroom, Rhysian looked into the barren classroom to see only a handful of students. He smirked lightly at the sight of the young man, Kayl, who was speaking with one of their newer students. 'Erika I presume,' He thought to himself as he stepped into the room and looked about, seeing Lelyna sitting near the professor's desk, slightly off towards the corner. 'And there we have it,'
Stepping into the room, Rhysian looked from one student to the next to the TA before heading to the desk. "Hello and well met, Diviner students of Eoana, I am Rhysian De'Valaer, and I will be teaching this class until a suitable Professor has been found to permanently take on this role." He said without any regard to the time and without mention of the class starting late. "Of course as we are just starting out, we can take it easy today, and let ourselves get familiar with each other, as such, I think proper introductions are in order, Ms. Thaniel's if you will please,"
Lelyna was a bit surprised to hear that Kayl didn’t know much about Rhysian. Maybe he was a distant relative? Someone that traveled often and far? Or maybe he made his home outside of Valor? Anything was possible, right? In any case, Kayl had reacted to the Academy’s newest Court Mage for a reason…
Tipping her head back a bit, she listened as Kayl got a bit closer. She’d been curious about Kayl’s raiment ever since their first day of class. It wasn’t like her to pry, so she hadn’t pressured him about it, so to have him bring it up was rare and exciting. Skootching a little closer, Lelyna waited in avid anticipation for what Kayl was going to say…and then the door opened.
Huffing a little at the intrusion, Lelyna moved back in her seat as Kayl welcomed the new student, Erika. While Kayl made the various introductions, Lelyna sat quietly and patiently as to not interrupt their conversation. But it seemed that before Kayl could get Erika’s name, the door opened again.
Lelyna knew that the only two students in the class were Kayl and Erika, that meant that their teacher had arrived. Expecting Gannon, Lelyna felt a bit of a jolt go through her when she heard Rhysian’s voice from the doorway. One had to wonder why Rhysian had volunteered to teach the class. Maybe Gannon had thought a change of professor would be beneficial for the students.
In any case, Rhysian was their new professor, or rather he was Kayl and Erika’s Professor and the one she would be supporting as the Teaching Assistant until the role was filled. Hearing Rhysian’s words, Lelyna nodded lightly and slowly arose from her seat, her hands clasped together lightly at her waist.
“Good Morning, Everyone. My name is Lelyna Thaniels and I will be your Teaching Assistant for the year. I am a Graduate of Eoana Academy and a former Diviner student as well. I hail from Valor and as you might be able to tell, am blind.” Lelyna said with a small smile. “I know we have a small class, but if either of you need anything, I am happy to help in any way that I can.” That being said, Lelyna retook her seat and settled her hands in her lap as she waited for the other students to introduce themselves as well.

Erika smiled just slightly knowing she wasn't being rude and nodded. "Good." Hearing that the professor hasn't even shown up yet made her sign in relief that she wouldn't be counted as tardy. "Small talk is always good until class starts. Nice to meet both of you, I'm-" with that she was done as the door opened.She then turned her attention to the new person who entered the room, looking attentive. She nodded along. Mr. De'Valaer was their substitute until a suitable took over. What made him not take the role?
Today was an easy day and just getting to know a bit about each other. She thought she could do that. Once Ms. Thaniels was introduced again, she payed the same amount of attention to her as she did Rhysian. After told Lelyna was blind, she thought about how she got around the school? Did he have any help or could she navigate through campus by herself? When Lelyna was done, she looked over at Kayl to see if he wanted to go next or her. She didn't want to be rude and would wait her turn, even if there was only four of them in that classroom.

When Rhysian stepped through the door, Kayl's eyes nearly went wide with both shock and a vague anticapation of what was to come. He readied himself for what he though might be inevitable, ready to dart out of the door if needed to contain himself. However this time, nothing happened, nothing at all. Still shocked that the rogue De'Valaer was now substituting their class, Kayl walked over to one of the tables in order to take his seat and respectively play his part as a student.
When the Court Mage introduced himself once more, he referenced that it would be an easy day to start, as he would be giving the students a chance to familiarize themselves. Lelyna came next, introducing herself with pride and letting them know her position officially. When she finished she retook her seat and then let it pass to the students. Kayl waited for a moment, however, when Erika didn't speak up and looked to Kayl he realized that she was waiting for him to go first. "Ah, well, My name is Kayl De'Valaer, I too hail from Valor, of house De'Valaer, and am a second year here in the academy. I am looking forward to working with you all to better understand my knit, and my raiment." After finishing his introduction, he looked back over to Erika, letting her take her turn as he took a seat at one of the student tables. Slowly, his gaze returned to Rhysian as he continued to ponder how he could not have known someone from his own family. But more so, hew as now curious as to what this man would be teaching them, and how he would be able to share his particular issue with this man.

Listening intently as each one of them gave their introductions, first Lelyna the TA for the class, and then to two remaining students, Rhysian nodded lightly at each of them as he motioned for them all to take their seats. "Now was already mentioned, this will be a very easy class today, mostly just introductions and some light information of what to expect. Until a professor is selected to fulfill the role, I will be substituting in place, and I will not go easy on you, you are here to learn about magic after all. More specifically your raiments, which happen to fall under the Diviner Knit." Rhysian said with a light tone as he stepped around the professor's desk and brought his hands up to emphasize his words.
"Now we shan't be getting into the particulars of Diviner just yet, nor of the classifications of such, first, we will be going over your raiments, each and every one, what you think your raiments are, what you think they can be, how you think they work, why you think they work the way they do, and so forth and so on. You cannot be expected to know or learn more without first knowing or learning about yourselves after all." Stopping back at the desk as his words came to a close, Rhysian leaned against the desk with his arms crossed and looked about the small class with a smile. "Any questions?" Rhysian asked while his eyes fell upon Kayl. When it looked like Kayl was about to ask him a question, he quickly lifted his hand up and added, "About the class, or your raiment I mean..." and Kayl backed down. After a moment of silence, Rhysian then waved them off. "Then you are dismissed until next class," He said before stepping over to Lelyna. "Lelyna, if you would, I'd like to have a small meeting with you before the next Knit class, just so we can go over the particulars of what to expect, I will be spending much of my time the next few days in my office, preparing it for my inevitable time there, please feel free to stop by anytime," Rhysian said eagerly while starting to head back towards the classroom door. Stopping for a moment, he looked back at Kayl as if he had an inkling of what Kayl was about to ask.
"Hm, You must be... Eldyn's boy, yes?" He said with a small smile as he looked back at Lelyna for a moment, and then back at Kayl. "I don't suppose you remember me at all, after all, I have been gone for a very long time, but something tells me that you will... in time..." With that Rhysian looked Kayl up and down as if appraising him, and then said one last thing before leaving the classroom. "Eldyn should be proud."
The class was short and sweet, but that was usually the case with the first knit class of the year, so she wasn’t surprised. What she was surprised about was the fact that Rhysian wanted to talk to her one on one in his office at some point before the next class. As his TA she would be expected to support him in his role, albeit temporarily, until a permanent Professor was found to teach the class. While she understood the need, she didn’t know how she felt about being alone with the Court Mage. There was still the chance that he could find out her and Kayl’s secret and then where would she be?
Regardless, this was a request from a Royal Court Mage so there was no way, or reason, for her to refuse. “Of course, Lord De’Valaer. If there is time after my Spells class tomorrow, I will come to your office. If not, then I will come on the free day.” Lelyna said politely with a small bow of her head. She heard his retreating footsteps and then his words to Kayl. It seemed that the Lord did know of Kayl and his father, which meant that he wasn’t as mysterious as they thought.
Arising from her seat, Lelyna slowly made her way to Kayl’s side. Erika had already left, leaving them alone for the moment. “It seems…that we will be seeing more of Lord Rhysian De’Valaer than we anticipated…” Taking Kayl’s arm, the two exited the classroom and headed back into town, eager to discuss their impressions of the temporary Diviner Professor….

Erika took her seat, nodding and listening to Kayl introduce himself and then once he was finished, she took a moment and spoke. "I'm Erika Winchester. I hail from Mitsun and it's nice to meet all of you and I, too, look forward in working with you and progressing in my raiment." She smiled lightly.
Once Rhysian started talking, she looked up at him and paid attention. Not at any time was she expecting any teacher to go easy on them. They had a raiment they needed to control and get better. She shook her head. Nope she didn't have any questions and if she did, she would talk to him. Once she was dismissed, she stood and exited.
