[~ @Aldaine ~]

Just as soon as Aldaine shifted back just as his dagger's fell upon him, the Red Cloaked Soldier ticked his teeth once more. He throw one of his daggers directly at Aldaine just as Aldaine made his kicking maneuver that sent one of his falling daggers firing off at him. Darting forward then the Red Cloaked Soldier completely dodged the first dagger flying at him, letting it pass him by mere inches before reaching low and catching the second dagger that Aldaine threw. Now armed once again with 2 daggers, the Red Cloaked Soldier charged him, swinging his blades swiftly, left, right, left, left, then right once more. Every swipe was swift, and getting more and more accurate as he started to get into a rhythm. The Red Cloaked Soldier would continue the aggressive attack trying to finish the guard in front of him.

Aldaine merely gave the soldier a disinterested gaze as the extremist once again dispersed a dagger towards him. Aldaine simply dodged and grabbed the aggressively thrown blade. Aldaine then noticed the soldier charge towards him, slashing his blades left and right. Aldaine sighed. He had hoped to take the soldier alive, but this was taking too long, and the jaguar was growing tired of the coyoteโ€™s presence. It was clear, this soldier didnโ€™t intend to be taken back alive.

    So be it.

If the soldier wanted to die for his cause, Aldaine would send to the hell in which he deserved to suffer. Yet, even in feeling this way, he couldn't stop himself from trying once more. Aldaine raised the dagger he caught and his metallic arm as the soldier advanced. He blocked the first few blows precisely. Again, again and again, the soldier struck. He was getting aggressive now. Perhaps too aggressive? Who could say. In any case it didnโ€™t matter. Aldaine matched the soldierโ€™s momentum meeting each advancing strike with a well-placed block. He kept it up for a while, letting the soldier get into a comfortable rhythm with his strikes. Aldaine used each strike, almost as a countdown, as he planned his next manoeuvre. Ten. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three. Twoโ€ฆ

    โ€ฆOneโ€ฆ

Aldaine then suddenly advanced forward and clashed with both the blades to briefly interrupt the now well-formed rhythm of strikes, before parrying both the soldierโ€™s blades off to the right. Then, with the dagger in Aldaineโ€™s right hand, he swiped at the soldierโ€™s eyeline, with the intent to blind him.

There was only a small amount of satisfaction that came with a death like this. This woman had been his enemy, a sick, sadistic figure who had killed numerous innocent civilians and helped orchestrate the attack on the city. He wanted her dead and gone and heโ€™d accomplished what heโ€™d set out to do โ€“ but that didnโ€™t mean he took pleasure in it. Wiping his hands in the snow to rid his claws of at least some of the residual blood, he looked around the surrounding area. Sniffing the air, ears straining, he tried to sense the tiger and the jaguar, but it seemed theyโ€™d gotten separated completely. It was just as well โ€“ heโ€™d wanted the guards to go after the other two shifters โ€“ he wouldnโ€™t have been able to take on all three by himself.

Turning away from the corpse of the shifter female, he headed back the way heโ€™d come โ€“ toward the makeshift camp. The snow storm was still active, but not as harshly as before, thus the tracks theyโ€™d left were still visible somewhat. Once he made it back to the ruined, decimated camp, he looked down the two paths. Choosing one over the other, he followed it, taking care to keep well aware of his surroundings in case he was ambushed by one of the extremists who happened to get awayโ€ฆ Little did he knew what he was headed toward Cyrus and the scene of his attack upon the hooded rogue whom heโ€™d bested in battle.

The thick smell of blood on the air was his first clue that one of them โ€“ the guard or the extremist โ€“ was either heavily wounded, or dead. Using caution, he approached the scene, his eyes going a bit wide at what he saw. It seemed that the Tiger was victorious. He was impressed and pleased by the outcome. It looked as if the Rogue was dead or dying and it was just as well. Reaching into his pocket, he produced a tightly folded and wax sealed note. Approaching the guard, he kept his gaze sharp, not wanting to get too close and keeping down wind so the male couldnโ€™t catch his scent. It seemed that the fight had cost the guard all of his energy, but he was alive and that was a victory.

Kneeling next to the shifter, made sure not to touch him as he observed. He looked asleep, dozing maybe? Or perhaps heโ€™d lost consciousness? In either case, it wasnโ€™t good, and he needed to get out of the storm and back to the barracks. Frowning deeply, he sighed โ€“ this wasnโ€™t part of the plan! Growling low, he shoved the guard only to see that he was only unconscious. Grumbling, he made the decision. Shoving the note into the guardโ€™s pocket, he hefted him up and over his shoulder. With any luck, the other guard had survived and would make it back to the barracks on his own in good time.

With the shifter over his shoulder, the mysterious figure walked back through the woods, slowly trudging through the snow. It took some finagling, but he snuck his way back inside the barracks and deposited the shifter in his room. With any luck, he just needed some rest to recover. Patting his chest, he nodded a little before heading out, his note tucked securely in the others pocketโ€ฆ

[~ @Aldaine ~]

Thinking that he had gotten the upper hand, the Red Cloaked Soldier had grown overconfident and continued his assault on the guard, having thwarted the guard's attacks several times and even placed onto himself the advantage, 'Prodigy? What Prodigy... Gerot, you've sorely misjudged your 'Progeny'... ' He thought to himself as he continued with his assault, about to make the very mistake he was warned against. As misguided thoughts ran through his head as he legitimately tried to kill the guard now, but suddenly his hands and blades were thwarted to the left, causing the Soldier to lose balance and stumble closer just as a timed blade was slashed at his face. The slash of the blade would have been enough to blind him, cutting through bone and flesh alike, but a stroke of even worse luck would fall upon the Soldier. As the blade swung forward with mighty force, the crossguard of the blade would incidentally pierce his right eye and force its way into the eye socket just as the blade made contact, forcing his face to turn in the direction the blade was swinging as it pulled him by the socket. Not only was the damage from the slash much more severe since the blade would catch and dig into the side of his head, but the sudden twist of his head with the great magnitude of the force of the strike would cause his head to turn further than it could actually rotate, a loud resounding CRACK filling the air as the attack snapped his neck, causing the Soldier to immediately fall to his knees. 'Prodi... Progen...' Would be the last thoughts to ring through his head as he lost consciousness and fell into the snow before him.

It was done. It wasnโ€™t the result he had intended, but at the same time, Aldaine felt no regret, no remorse for what had just occurred. The dagger's crossguard found itself embedded into the soldierโ€™s right eye. The forced of the slash had been enough to turn the soldierโ€™s head enough to break his neck, made evident by itโ€™s loud -SNAP- as his body when limp, falling to his knees. Aldaineโ€™s eyes remained cold as the life drained out of the soldier before him. After a few initial twitches, the soldierโ€™s body when completely lifeless. Aldaine exhaled calmly as he kicked the soldierโ€™s limp body towards the ground, withdrawing the dagger, now drenched with blood, from the soldierโ€™s eye socket as the husk that was once a man was embraced by the snowy ground.

It was over. Aldaine had won. He may have wanted information out of the soldier initially, but, there was no guarantee that the soldier had anything worth offering and the final outcome wasnโ€™t without its benefits, at least it was one less extremist to worry about. However, Aldaine soon reminded himself that Cyrus was still out there, and so, picking up the soldierโ€™s body, he made his way to where he heard the explosions from earlier.

When all was said and done, Aldaine found himself initially baffled. He couldnโ€™t find Cyrus, though he did pick up another scent at the scene where he found the black hooded rogueโ€™s corpse. It smelt like that of the mysterious figure they were chasing. While Aldaine was initially suspicious of the figure, he couldnโ€™t forget that he saw him take on he grey hooded archer while Aldaine himself and Cyrus when after the rogue and soldier. It was strangeโ€ฆwas the figure perhaps a victim of the attack? Someone who lost a loved one? Someone who wanted justice? Initially, the last thing the guards needed was a vigilante on the loose, some citizen taking matters into their own hands. However, Aldaine couldnโ€™t help but appreciate the figureโ€™s assistance in this battle. It certainly evened the odds, that was for sure.

Aldaine did noticed some of Cyrusโ€™ blood at the scene, but there was no trail. Regardless Aldaine had conducted a full sweep of the area in a matter of hours, checking within a reasonable perimeter of how far Cyrus could have wandered had he the strength to. It wasnโ€™t until then that Aldaine picked up a trail of the figure and Cyrusโ€™ scents, leading back where they entered, back to the city. Given the figure helped them, and there were no other signs of Cyโ€™s blood or presence in the area, it was enough to deduce that the figure could very well have brought him back to the city. But if that was the case, why? Regardless, Aldaine was confident that while he could be injured, he certainly wasnโ€™t dead, and right now, with his current fatigue and general lack of energy, that was enough to keep Aldaine calm.

He had managed to gather the corpses of the soldier, rogue and archer back to their campsite. There Aldaine took a moment to contemplate. This was a victory, that much could not have be ignored. But, Aldaine would need something to bring back to offer to Varysโ€ฆlet the Lord Marshal know that the hunt was beginning to produce results. Aldaine then knew what he would do. To others, it might have seemed profane, disgusting, but in truth, he didnโ€™t care especially for scum like those who lay before him. Taking one of the bags of explosives off of one of the corpses, he emptied it. Then, he drew Shade from his back. There was not need to bloody Reynardโ€™s sword with such an unsightly task. One by one, with all the cold-hearted disinterest of a statue, Aldaine struck the heads off each of the extremistsโ€™ corpses and shoved them into the bag as tokens of proof. Then, donning it around his shoulder, Aldaine made his way back to the city.

Aldaine snuck his way in back at the barracks, given the โ€œitemsโ€ currently in his possession, and upon entering his room he found Cyrus there, sleeping soundly. At this, Aldaine breathed a sigh of relief and he approached the sleeping tiger. Kneeling down to the shifter on the bed, Aldaine brought his hand to the side of Cyrusโ€™ face, gently so as not to wake him, while he just as carefully touched the tigerโ€™s forehead with his own. Aldaine was filled with such relief. Of course, the tiger looked like he had taken a serious โ€œpunchโ€, but the fact he was alive was enough to make Aldaine content.

โ€œThank goodness youโ€™re still aliveโ€ฆbrother.โ€ Heโ€™s words were spoken quietly and softly, with a gentle and caring tone rarely heard from the jaguar.

Standing, Aldaine made his exit. He would spend the night elsewhere and when tomorrow came, he would show Varys the fruits of Aldaineโ€™s, Cyrusโ€™s and their mysterious friendโ€™s labours.

    {-Aldaine exits for Day Flip-}

~ Eoana Forest - New Day ~

User Image Although he would have preferred to have his Furry Pack-Sister along for the company, Tala had felt it best not to tempt fate in bringing Fea along with him that day and had instead left her in the care of the next best person he could think of - Eyrli.

The Elementor had hidden it well, but Tala could tell that she had been ecstatic for the chance to be able to look after Fea for the day - It would obviously prove quite interesting for the Wolf to tag along with Eyrli to her job at the Jolly Tavern and Inn, but however much he'd have loved to have joined the pair and seen where the day would take them, Tala knew he had slightly more important matters to attend to...

He knew that the Witch had been running a class at the Academy for some time now, but having found it quite a challenge to actually hunt her down when he himself wasn't wrapped up in studies and homework, the Shadowmancer had inevitably decided to take the initiative that morning and seek her out in the one place where they had met more than once before the long silence in their communications...

Eoana Forest was still technically "Off Limits" to Students and he knew he was risking quite a bit by crossing its threshold and venturing beneath the trees, but with no man-eating Feral Tiger lurking around and of course nobody there to change his mind, Tala felt this was perhaps the best opportunity to check in and see if his services were required...if it turned out she wasn't there, then it had at least got him out for the day...which was good, right?

Obviously, having heard no word from the Witch for some time now, the Elementor could very easily have just forgotten all about his arrangement with the Elder and gotten on with his life - enjoying whatever the day might have had in store for him, but as he was beginning to settle back into life at the Academy again and having even started making a few real friends now, the last thing he wanted was for one of Baba's Sludgy Familiars dropping by to spoil the moment...

With no idea how far he would have to wander before they crossed paths - if he even met up with her at all - Tala would draw a deep breath of the fresh air before lifting his gaze briefly to the trees above as the light from the sunny skies above filtered down through the leaves, dappling the earth beneath his feet as he walked...

Baba was obviously a very busy lady when she wasn't teaching classes, so he shouldn't have just assumed that the Witch would be available whenever he needed an audience with her - even though she herself appeared quite capable of dropping in on the male anytime she pleased and often without warning... He felt it was better that he went and checked at least, although in hindsight, he was still running quite a risk seeing as though he was breaking the rules and entering a restricted area just to 'see' if she was about...

Eoana Forest had always been a pleasant place when it wasn't inhabited by blood-thirsty feral beasts and the occasional extremist looking for a quick kill... As he walked, the Shadowmancer took the time to enjoy the serenity that a location which was 'off limits' to others would allow - There were no people, the wildlife had been left to its own devices and as the birds sung merrily in the trees, he actually felt at peace...

It had been a bit of a shame he hadn't brought Fea along as she would really have enjoyed the vast enrichment that the Forest provided, but as he reached the edge of its boundaries, Tala knew he would have hated himself should anything have happened to her...

At the end of the day, the walk had done him some good - it had gotten him out into the daylight and although he still needed to find his way back without anyone realising where he had been, he'd still made the decision to seek his guardian out himself...rather than waiting for one of the her messengers to drop by unexpectedly.
