Gonbe I love books, but I like my books new and unfallapartish. it IS inevitable with time, but if you take care of them properly, they can last almost forever. there's probably a copy of the Guttenberg Bible (or maybe even a couple of them) that could still be in a readable-book state.

Ah, well -- I love books, but I admit I don't take the best care of them. I just stick them in my bag and let them get all banged up, since I always carry at least one book with me.
Any book recommendations, btw? I need something new to read.

I like fantasy, but I don't really like LOTR. Just because they were first doesn't make them good. Tolkien is rather long-winded, I find...
What series is this?

The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. ... you may not like them though. they are rather long winded. The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind is another one though. slightly less long-winded. each book can be read independently, though I would suggest starting at the beginning. both series are Lord of the Rings-esque in general theme though.

Hmm, they look okay. I'll check them out next time I go into a bookstore (i.e. soon).
I've always been more of a fan of classics or something a bit less fantasy-ish, truth be told.

A great trilogy of books would be the His Dark Material trilogy, by Phillip Pullman. Highly recommended

I tend to read the fantasy and older-based young adult stuff.

ooh! FS, you just reminded me of this one by saying Trilogy. There's this REALLY great trilogy by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. They're the ones that started the DragonLance series. (another fantasy, I'm a fraid, but REALLY good) anyway, this trilogy is apart from that series, and instead of following a band of heroes, it follows the evil guy. whee very awesome. The trilogy starts with Well of Darkness. HIGHLY recommended.
