"I bet you've stayed up even longer than that!" Mokuba countered, "When are you coming home?" he now sounded less angry and more whiny, hoping to guilt his brother into dropping the subject of staying up all night and coming to get some rest himself.

((Yes, Tetsuo is Jounouchi's father, though it was a made-up name. XD And considering you are listed as him, I'm assuming that means you do play him. Poor Jounouchi. XD

The longer Jounouchi walked back into the less-prestigious areas of town, the more tired he could feel himself becoming. Normally, as he approached the old, rickety building that was his apartment complex, he would feel a bit of dread, or paranoia sometimes, but now the depressing building looked so inviting. Knowing his bed was in there was enough to change his normal opinions on the place.
So when he finally made it into the building, he quickly headed up the stairs and to his apartment. Quietly turning the handle, Jounouchi conformed to his usual habit of stepping aside before opening the door, just to make sure no beer bottles would come flying at him.

"Dinner?!" Mokuba asked in disbelief, "That's another entire day you're going without sleep! What technology setback even happened to keep you busy that long?"

((Haha, of course.))

"Ghe-" Jounouchi froze, his face visibly paling as he saw his angry father standing over him. He obviously had not been expecting the man to be awake at this time. "Ah, Oyaji..." he closed his eyes for a moment, regaining his composure, "I just went out for some coffee; didn't think you'd be needing anything this early." he shrugged, his gaze not meeting his father's.

((FYI, Oyaji is what Jounouchi calls his father. Kind of an informal way of referring to him, like 'Pops.' Hope you don't mind me using Japanese titles; just what I'm used to having the characters refer to each other with.))

"You were trapped in an elevator?! Oh my gosh, are you okay?!" Kaiba's explanation did little to stave off his brother's worry.

Jounouchi tensed visibly in front of Tetsuo. He forced himself to hold his ground, puffing his cheeks out ever-so-slightly, "I told you... I was just going out for some coffee... I don't get into that kinda s**t anymore." he hoped this explanation would be enough to get his father to back off a bit.

"..." Mokuba sighed over the phone, "Alright then... just don't overdo it if you get tired, okay...?"

Yeesh, how long had his father been awake waiting for him? Jounouchi had assumed that Tetsuo had just woken up a little earlier, when morning was already there, so his story about going to get coffee wouldn't seem odd. The man must've woken up when it was closer to late at night, right after Jounouchi had left the apartment... damn.
He sighed, hoping Tetsuo would be too drunk to get into a bunch of questions on his explanation that was too come; he really wasn't in the mood to talk with his father too much, and just wanted to go get some sleep, "Well, a lot of s**t ended up happening..." he had his hands stuffed in his pockets, looking down and to the side as he nervously kicked at an empty beer can, "I ran into someone from school, and he ended up fainting, so I helped him get somewhere to rest..." he shrugged awkwardly.

((Haha, yeah, there can be some awkwardness with that. Honestly, most parents in Japan just call their kids by first name, so in this case Katsuya. If you want to call him 'son,' it would be 'musuko,' but that's more for like when you're referring to your own son to someone else, and it's a humble way of referring to them at that. So yeah, I'd just go with Katsuya, unless it really bothers you. XD))

"..." Mokuba heard the click of the phone, but held it to his ear a little longer... just because...
He sighed softly, slowly lowering the phone into the receiver, "Nii Sama..." he mumbled, really worried for his brother. Sometimes he wished they just lived a more normal life, without all of this business. He was fine not being rich.

Jounouchi's eyes widened, shocked that his father would make such an implication, "Wh-what?! No, that's ridiculous!" he flushed, "I hate that guy; I was just helping him out of obligation!"

((Haha, oh, I see. Meh, even though no one in the series really calls him Katsuya besides his mother, a lot of people just prefer the name because it's simpler or cuter or whatever. Not really a big deal, whatever anyone prefers to use.))

Jounouchi froze as the bottle went flying by his head, smashing right next to him. His eyes went wide and he clenched his teeth together, slowly turning to look at the drenched wall. He quickly turned back to his dad, putting his hands up defensively, "Th-that's not true Oyaji...! N-now just take a few deep breaths and calm down, okay...? I'll get whatever it is you need..."

Jounouchi flinched lightly as his shoulders made contact with the wall. He didn't struggle to pull away, not wanting to provoke his father further, though did, however, ready himself to kick the man's legs out from under him if he did decide to become dangerously violent. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that point, "Alright, alright, I get it! Sorry!" He said, trying to keep his annoyed tone to a minimum, "But the longer you keep me here yelling about it, the even more longer you'll have to wait to get whatever it is you need. So just tell me what it is already and I'll be on my way, okay?" he added the last part with a forced, light smile, hoping the more casual expression would be enough to calm Tetsuo down.
