"You are lying," Ethin responded, somewhat hurt. "Tell me what the problem is."
"Ethin, perhaps you should let her alone for the time being. At least until she has calmed down," Rosalyn said, walking up behind him. "Nice to meet you, Kiae Sedai. I am Lady Rosalyn of House Lamonte," she continued formally, with a low curtsy.

Kiae's eyes widened in anger at the woman's tone. "How dare she speak to Ethin that way! How dare she interfere with a Warder!"
"You have no business addressing my Warder in such a manner," Kiae informed her coldly, taking refuge in her heartless Aes Sedai persona. The woman may be a noble, but Aes Sedai outranked everyone and all present knew that simple fact.

"Of course, Aes Sedai," Rosalyn responded, bowing her head as an apology.
"Kiae, you really must calm yourself. It is almost time to prepare. We must get back to the inn," Ethin said, taking a step towards Kiae.

Kiae's gaze snapped to Ethin and it was full of promises that they would discuss the matter in private. "It was where I was heading," she informed him shortly.

Ethin turned to Rosalyn. "How about you and Esole take the coach back to the inn and I will walk with Kiae," he suggested. Rosalyn nodded and headed back to the coach.
"I will not be herded like a sheep to wherever you feel I need to be. If I wanted to walk back, that would be my decision to make. Do not make decisions for me again, Ethin," Esole said threateningly before turning on her heel and stalking away towards the coach.
"Now then. What happened?" Ethin asked firmly.

Kiae simply watched him for a minute before sagging back against the wall, strained from having to be strong in front of the two women. The anger she had felt was real, though, which had helped. "Erasmus found me," she told him in biting tones.

"Did he hurt you? What did he want?" Ethin asked with worry. He did not know what to do to console her.

"He didn't hurt me. I just need a moment to get myself together," she explained wearily. "He just wanted to talk. I think. I don't know anymore." Kiae sighed and closed her eyes in irritation. "He said they don't care about the queen - the procession is just for fun, it seems. I think they want Aes Sedai," she realized, turning even paler.

Ethin saw how distraught she was and chose that opportunity to hold her in his arms, hoping his embrace would calm her and bring her a sense of safety. "Perhaps we shouldn't go tonight. Clearly he will be expecting it. You and Esole should stay behind," he said softly.

She shook her head, allowing herself to relax in the safety of his embrace. "I can't do that. Even if he said they weren't serious, they could still easily cause harm. They have no sense of right or wrong. I can't allow them to do as they will just because I'm afraid." Kiae bit her lip, forcing the last word out. It was hard to admit, even to herself. Even the New Order didn't frighten her as much as Erasmus and Reider did, and the New Order had killed her Warder.

Kiae nodded, wondering what would happen during the procession. "Who was that woman with you?" she asked, as she turned to head back down the alley.

"She is Lady Rosalyn of House Lamonte. I passed out in an alley and she came to my aid when some street urchin tried to pocket my things. She helped me gather Esole Sedai to go find you," Ethin replied. He wondered if Kiae was jealous of Rosalyn for whatever reason. Women acted in very strange ways.

"Hmph. I'd like to know why. Nobles are hardly known for their altruism, let alone here," Kiae muttered, irritated by his explanation for some reason. She was sure the woman was up to something - she was above jealousy, wasn't she?

"Not all nobles. Queen Elayne showed Rand great kindness. He spoke of it himself. If she can be an exception to the nobles typical arrogance, can't others?" Ethin responded, somewhat annoyed with Kiae's jealous attitude.
