"No..." Brooke answered, but she did as Dimitris suggested and began nervously inspecting the handguns. After a couple of them she exclaimed, "Oh, here! I found one." She took it in her hand, experimentally feeling the firing position. It was strange realizing that she could so easily become lethal. And yet, what was every other living thing left so ready to do? And who had summoned all those vicious vines and thorns earlier?

She clenched her hand a little. IT hurt, knowing she was a killer... that they all were killers. But it was what they had to do to stay alive.

Brooke looked curiously ad what the fox had just done. "So... when this is on, it won't fire, and when it's off it will?"

Carefully holding the safety in place, Brooke pointed the gun into the darkness and slowly pulled the trigger. Nothing happened. She released the trigger and looked down at the gun again. "Wow... actually, that's surprisingly comforting," she said.

The horse trotted over to peer curiously over Dimitris' shoulder. After a moment she glanced back at the gun in her hand. "Um... how do I open it?"

The sudden crash snapped Brooke out of her mini-reverie; she'd been staring blankly at the handgun. "Oh, no, I meant how do I load this thing," she said again, indicating the weapon in her hand. "Though you do have a point about the boxes..." She kneeled to set the gun down and soon trotted off, looking for any piles or scraps of packaging.

A ways into the innards of the arsenal, Brooke finally caught sight of a large pile of discarded cardboard and foam. The waste had been shoved into a corner. She collected as much of the material as she could fit in her arms and waddled awkwardly back to the door they'd come in through. After dumping the packaging unceremoniously on the floor, she set about stuffing it into the opened crate.

Brooke dipped her head shyly; she was just glad she was doing something right. She picked up the reinforced crate and made her way over to their makeshift barricade. "So, we just stack these along the do-GAH!"

The door had shaken suddenly, pounded from the outside by the monsters. The sudden movement and noise had made the horse flinch in shock, though she recovered quickly and shoved the crate up against the door. The toppled display case was holding up for now, but the collision had caused it to scoot along the ground a few inches; she feared it wouldn't protect them for much longer.

"How are we getting out of here?" she asked worriedly, hurrying over to stuff more crates.

"So we're going up to the roof?" Brooke echoed, rapidly stuffing another crate and returning to brace the door more.
