((Here I come, like a super-hero to save the day!))

Rarely did Haku curse the Fates and the Spirits for placing his soul in the body of a Water Tribe male and giving him the ability to bend water, because, for the most part, he could not think of an element that would be better to bend. But as he trudged up the steep mountain side, sweat making it's way from his hairline to his neck and then running down his back, he experienced the fleeting desire to be an air-bender, if only to give him the power to allow him to fly to the top of this infernal mountain. The Fire Nation Army must have been very tough and hardy indeed if, two hundred years ago they had climbed all the way up this path just to slaughter a collection of innocent people. Haku only wished he had their strength and stamina. Hopefully, there would be a spring, or a fountain, or something of the likes inside the temple, for he was running out of water, a situation that looked bad no matter which way you sliced it. Not only did a lack of water leave him feeling weaponless and undefended, but like all humans, he needed drink water in order to survive. Breathing in deeply through his nose, Haku looked up from the dusty, rocky path that he had been traveling on for the past several hours, and noticed with some satisfaction that he was nearing the top. 'Thank the Gods'. He thought, blowing a loose strand of hair out of his face. His neat and orderly bun was slowly wilting from a combination of heat and sweat, leaving little streaks of hair to fall out all around his face, leaving him with a rather bedraggled appearance. Pausing only to wipe a bead of sweat from his forehead, Haku pushed on, determined to make it to the top without stopping again until he got there.

Haku wasn't going to lie; the view up here certainly was impressive. He could only imagine what it would have looked like back in the days of it's full splendor and glory, when the place was full of young children and wise monks, all dressed in colorful, flowing robes. Although the Airbenders were making a slow (very slow) come-back, thanks to Avatar Aang and his descendents, it would still be many years before this place was restored to what it once had been. Turning away from the jagged mountain peaks and low hanging clouds that crawled lazily through the air, Haku entered into the temple of the shade, and looked around for some source of water, his tongue feeling heavy and dry in his mouth. If push came to shove, yes, he could pull water from the air around him. But the problem was, he was so high up, and the air around him already so dry that, at the most, he might get a mouthful or two of water. Resisting the urge to sigh, and knowing it would just make him even more thirsty, Haku reached up and pulled his hair back into it's customary tight bun, tucking all the pieces that had come loose neatly back into place. Scratching at the damp wool he wore underneath his tunic, he toyed with the idea of taking it off. But then what would he do it with? Carrying it would be even worse. Still...it would be nice to be free of the woolen garment's heavy, constricting feel. Nodding to himself, Haku set off down a light, airy corridor, looking for an empty room in which he could change.

Recoiling almost immediately from the stranger, Haku took a quick step backwards, and returned Damien's bow Water-Tribe style, keeping his arms loose by his sides, ready to send a whip of water in his direction should the man prove to be dangerous, or have less than...honest intentions (Haku knew he was much, much too feminine in the way he looked, and being mistaken for a girl happened almost daily. Some encounters he could brush off, but some were...more awkward than others, to say the least). The man did not give off any indication of being a threat, but with some people, you really just couldn't tell. And besides, it had been so long since Haku had had any physically contact with another human that the feeling made him jump (Traveling alone for weeks on end without so much as seeing another person could do that to you). "No, you have my apologies as well, since we are both equally at fault, and I too was not paying attention to where I was going." Straightening up from his bow, Haku looked the man over, a faint smile tugging at his lips. There was something familiar about the man's appearance, not as in 'I've-met-this-person-before-but-I-just-can't-remember-where' or anything like that. But there was just something about the way the other male was dressed, and the structure of his face that made Haku feel as if, at the very least, he had at least seen this man somewhere else. Or maybe the heat and lack of water was getting to his head and he was going crazy. "Well, you're not really one to be talking about unusual people in unusual places." He countered wryly, the smile becoming a full-fledged, but kind-hearted, smirk. "I could just as easily say I'd never thought I'd see a person from the Earth Kingdom this high up in the air." Extending his hand, and raising an eyebrow slightly, Haku introduced himself. "Haku Yuki, of the Southern Water Tribe."
