I used to be a fan of dubbing, and I still try and give a far shot to the English cast...one show has forever cast doubt on which version I like. Initial D was a decent show, I like techno and have enough interest in drift racing to watch a show about it, mostly because it looks cooler than circuit racing or nascar. But the English dub is AWFUL! They redubbed the intro, replacing the iconic techno track with beach boys rejects...and then when I thought it couldn't get worse the main character talks! Takumi is supposed to be apathetic, not slow...he sounds like he has just learned how to speak thru a vague description of what spoken language is. Any show that messes with the theme during translation is going to bother me slightly, like the 4KIDS version of One Piece...but casting the janitor from your office because you can't find anyone is too much for me too excuse. I think they realized what they did after the fact because the discs prompt you to choose format before going to the menu, so I don't have to hear the english theme while navigating the disc features. I do still watch dubs on a few shows where I enjoy or am not bothered by dubbing, or when friends want to watch anime...I seem to be one of only a handful in my group that take issue with some dubs.

One show that I wish i could find a subtitled and unaltered is Starblazers, or Space Battleship Yamato. I don't mind the change to English names, or the fact that some of the dialogue gets tweaked due to the differences in language. I can even overlook the "Spring Water" the crew drinks all the time...but they CHANGE THE NAME OF THE GODDAMN SHIP!!! This is inexcusable that they gloss over the fact that it's the sunken war vessel from WW2 because we are uncomfortable referring to that fact. Why can't we just deal with it and move on like adults, does it really bother people so much that a benign reference in a cartoon is so taboo?! Anyways end rant, I'm tired -_- #28

Yeah what I hate is the voices are rarely as good as the subtitled version, PLUS the dubs sometimes butcher the storyline. So that's why I rarely watch the dub version ^^;

You know what ticks me off? When they have Japanese audio, but dub it in Chinese. I mean i know they're two different languages, but they always make the symbols super huge (post #31)

Well you might want to get some medicine for that ADD stuff you seem to have >.>;
Well if it's a really good and involving Anime I can usually sit still to watch it. Although there are times when I wouldn't mind having it dubbed so I could multitask a bit better. sweatdrop

Yea, that is the one nice thing when a dub is good, I can do stuff and listen if I have seen it before. I like to semi-watch a show I have already seen while painting miniatures for the tabletop games I play sometimes biggrin #45

Uhh...extreme mood swings are NOT a sign of ADD or even ADHD. ADD is you have trouble sitting still and concentrating on 1 thing. ADHD is the same, except you have a LOT of extra energy (Think of a kid on a sugar rush).
Now if you have crazy mood swings that's probably more like a Manic Depressive or something. It's possible to have both though ^^;
