Jack finished off his Tiger Tail and slowly sipped at his coffee. his pocket buzzed, and it made him jump. He pulled out his phone and looked, not recognizing the number. A fleeting look of panic crossed his face and he stood. "I'm going to take a cigarette break. Be right back." He walked to the door and exited, opening the text.
Yo bro its mog this my new # save it.
Jac let out a long sigh, shoulders slumping. He texted back, Mog you idiot! You scared me. Thought I was caught. Hoed you get my number? He took out a cigarette and lit it, sticking it between his lips and sucking in the sweet tobacco and nicotine. He held it a moment, then sighed again, the smoke puffing with his breath. Another buzz came and he opened the test,
Stole your phone you was napping. Dont be mad
Jac closed out of his phone and relaxed, leaning against the wall near the window. The light of the street made his skin glow gold where it touched, leaving the rest of his profile in silhouette.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia watched him jump and his face flash with panic. The smile fell from her face as she watched him leave, blowing a small gust of cool breeze their way when the door shut behind him. Her eyes fell to the cup of cocoa, then out the slightly fogged windows to where Jac stood, a figure of misty gold in a dewy night. Subconsciously she stared for a moment, the blur of his glowing profile burning in her vision for a few seconds. She felt Danielle sniff softly in recognition, and slowly she turned her gaze away from him and back to her, taking a sip of the cocoa. "So he's a smoker, huh?" Danielle said quietly, sipping her coffee. "Leave it be, Danielle," Delia replied exasperatedly. Danielle sat up straighter, looking offended. "Hey, it's just an observation." A pause, long enough to smooth out the wrinkles of tension. "Are you worried about him?" Delia blinked, alarmed at such a straight-forward question. "I, um... I guess so."Danielle leaned back in her chair. "You should go talk to him." Delia didn't answer, she just took another gulp of the hot chocolate. "Hey, I know it's none of my business. Just go, before I go out there myself." She shrugged indifferently and rummaged through the paper bag, taking out a sugar cookie for herself. Delia sighed heavily and wandered over to the door, where she lingered for a moment, watching him. Biting her lip, she exited the shop and approached him tentatively, shoving her hands in the pockets of her dress. "Is everything okay?"

Jac turned when he heard the door behind him open and saw Delia step out onto the cold night air. She was worried. He seemed to make her do that quite a bit. "I'm fine, it was just Mog. I didn't recognize the number and... Well..." He brought a hand to his side, remembering what the last phone call he had received had resulted in. "I'm just tired I think. Work and play make for a full day." He said with a grin. He sniffed out his smoke on the sole of his shoe and flicked it to the sidewalk. "Let's go back inside." he went to the door, reaching around Delia, his chest inches away from hers, and opening it for her,

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia watched him as he spoke, the way he moved, the look in his eyes. She knew he wasn't lying, but she just couldn't help but be concerned. Maybe it was because she had helped him so much already, maybe she felt responsible for making sure he was okay. More than okay, if possible. What are you, suddenly his guardian or something? Relax. she thought to herself. She nodded and attempted a smile at his reassurances. When he reached around her to open the door, the crisp smell of the night was replaced with a waft of his cologne. He was so close to her it made her tense up again for a split second. The butterflies in her stomach had traveled upward towards her heart, which was pitter-pattering rather rapidly, it was almost alarming. For a moment, she was frozen, but she quickly regained her composure and smiled at him. "Thanks," she said as she entered the warmth of the bakery again. Danielle was nibbling on her second cookie, pretending she hadn't noticed a thing.

Jac noticed the pause before Delia reentered the bakery, but did not bring any attention to it. He followed her in and took his seat. It had gotten a bit awkward, and Jac was at a loss for what to say. "So uh, you two are starting school soon huh?" it was a lame attempt, but it was better than bringing up the weather.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia sat back down next to Danielle and grabbed one of the cookies. It was frosted to look like a sun wearing sunglasses. Smiling softly, she took a bite of the soft cookie and immediately melted in her mouth. She exhaled, letting Danielle answer the question, her eyes glued to the table for a moment as she ate. Danielle nodded. "Classes start tomorrow, actually. I'm so excited. I hear there's going to be this big Fall ball coming up too. I bet it'll be spectacular." She licked her sugar-coated fingers and threw a sideways glance at Delia. "What about you, De? Excited to start school?" Delia blinked and looked up at the two of them, smiling faintly. "Um, yeah...""What about you, Jac? What'll you be up to now that autumn is on its way here?"

Jac had to really think about that question. Was he far enough away from his past that it would not catch up with him? Or would he have to leave this town? He even contemplated leaving the state. For the moment though, he thought it would be fine to stick around here. If only for a few months until things blew over enough to travel more freely.
"I'll probably get another job and start looking for a more permanent place to stay. Maybe sell my bike and get a truck or something. I'm not sure." He shrugged. Life was hard for a high school drop out.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Danielle nodded. If she were to be straight-forward, she'd ask what he planned on doing with his life and where he had come from (the curiosity was eating her alive), but Delia kind of beat her to it. "If you could go anywhere, do anything, what would you do?" she asked curiously, leaning against the table and resting her chin in the palm of her hand. She hadn't meant to be so straight-forward about it; the thought had just suddenly occurred to her and it was better than whatever Danielle was concocting in that crazy brain of hers. Kiyiya Sakura I don't remember if she ever asked him anything like that before, so sorry if she did XD

Jac smiled, remembering her asking a similar question before. "Well, realistically, I would eventually like to move up north somewhere. Preferably where there isn't so many people and noise. But if I could go anywhere and do anything? I think I would just want to be free. I would travel the world, see everything, go everywhere, without worrying about money or debts." He plopped his head on his hands, propped up by his elbows. "Pfft," He started laughing, finding his own words ridiculous. He knew there would never be such a freedom for him aside from perhaps death. He stopped laughing, rubbing his face to hide the fact that it was actually a depressed sort of laughter and slapped on a fake smile. "What about you two? If you could do anything?" He asked, taking the spotlight off of him.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Danielle couldn't help herself but to giggle a little bit, but Delia didn't find it all that amusing. Her eyes fell to the table again and she zoned out for a moment as Danielle answered first. "Oh, I know it sounds cheesy, but I'd like to find someone special and settle down for a while. After school, of course. I just feel like it'd be nice to have a big house and a family." Delia heard her words and smiled softly at the thought, but Jac's laugh still echoed in the corners of her mind. She wanted a moment to tell him that his notion wasn't ridiculous, and that it was perfect, and perfectly possible, and that she would do anything for him... wait... what? She shoved the last entanglement of thoughts out of her mind and looked up at Danielle's expectant face. "Um, well... I'd like to travel, I suppose. That would be nice. I've always thought being one of those traveling doctors would be cool, roaming the world, going to remote places, bringing cures for diseases and new knowledge to small civilizations. That sort of thing." Delia shrugged, taking another sip of the cocoa.

"Well, that's admirable. You should join the Peace Corps. I hear that they send you to places that really need the help, pay for your room and board, and you get to see places." He knew, he once looked them up as a means of escape. His heart wasn't in it though, and he may have ended up somewhere worse than his predicament. Though now it seemed like a batter idea, considering his predicament had worsened. He ha not had a hit on his head then, He did now.
he looked at his phone, seeing the place was near about closing. "I suppose we should all turn in about now. Let these people close up shop."

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia's lips slid up into a small smile. Ironically she had not considered the Peace Corps before, but he had a point that it was a decent idea. The fact that he said it was admirable was another thing she hadn't taken into account, but she did her best not to repeat what had happened moments ago. Danielle threw a sideways glance at her through the curl of her side bangs, then slowly bagged the leftover goodies back up and got to her feet. Delia followed her like a shadow, nodding in response. "Good idea," she replied, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear. Danielle led the way to the door but Delia lingered for a moment mid-thought, before tossing her empty cup into the trash. It suddenly occurred to her that tomorrow was the first day of classes, and panic struck her nerves like a shock of electricity. She turned wildly to Danielle and practically squealed, "Classes start tomorrow!"Danielle laughed and nodded. "Um, yeah. Good job figuring that one out," she responded sarcastically, patting her friend on the back. Delia sighed and followed her out the door. "I'm just nervous, that's all..."

Jac followed the two out of the bakery, but lingered there on the sidewalk as they went on their way. It seemed his mood was on a rather annoying roller coaster lately, and he wondered why. He was accustomed to being in a perpetually foul mood, and in light of recent events, he had expected it to be more of the same, but for some reason, he was finding himself happy, then reminiscent of times when that were a normal thing, and thus making him depressed. These mood swings were giving his whiplash, and he hoped it hadn't bothered Delia.
He debated pulling out another cigarette, but ultimately decided to go back to the room. If he wanted one then, he could smoke before entering the room. He slipped on his helmet and took off, his thoughts straying to Delia.
That little blue and white dress she had worn tonight looked really good on her. He thought back briefly on it, and was disappointed in himself for not complimenting her on it. But why should he feel bad about not mentioning her dress? It wasn't prom, she wasn't his girlfriend. They were barely even friends. He had just met her what? Two days ago? He shook the thoughts from his head and continued the drive home.
Marina Elemento so how was the camping trip???

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--"You know, I have a feeling this isn't about classes," Danielle said quietly as they began walking. They both turned to look behind them, noticing that Jac had already took off by the time they checked. The reflection of streetlights on the puddles glinted in Delia's eyes, and she turned back to face forward as they continued to walk. She stuffed her hands in her pockets and shivered a little bit. "It doesn't matter."There was a pause in which the only noises that could be heard were the occasional passing car and the casual shuffle of their feet against the wet pavement. Delia exhaled slowly, wondering why she hadn't bothered to say goodbye to him or anything. She couldn't help but worry about the look in his eyes, it burned like an image in her mind. "You can talk about it, you know. If it'll help." Delia looked at her friend, half-surprised such a genuine offer had come from her mouth. Blinking, she responded quietly, "I'm just worried about him.""I noticed. What happened?" She paused again, her eyes glued to the ground in front of her. "Nothing, just... he's been through a lot.""Oh." For a moment, Danielle sounded as though she would say something else, a witty retort, a silly joke coupled with a side-smile, but she stayed quiet for a little while until she spoke again. They paused at an intersection that was just before the school. "How do you have the capacity to worry so much about other people? Most could care less, but you, you're just Miss Charity or something..." She trailed off and they crossed the road safely, finally making their way back on school grounds. Delia didn't answer; she was slowly becoming too sleepy to think of a decent answer to any question Danielle had for her, and there was probably a plethora. Kiyiya Sakura It was awesome! I had lots of fun with my friends! 3nodding Don't know if I would call it camping though... the place we stayed in had heating and electricity. But we spent most of our time outside when it wasn't raining.

Jacob "Jac" Fayden McClain
At the motel room, he flopped down onto the bed with a sigh. Mog was out somewhere, but he didn't care. He just wanted to sleep. He kicked off his shoes and rolled over, his face buried in his pillow. He could not deny that he indeed had a good time, but he also recognized the feelings he encountered briefly at the bakery. When he was looking at Delia. At her hair... and her neck. And the kindness in her eyes. He knew what was going on, and he knew it was a bad idea.
He told himself that he would have to be more stand-off-ish, make her not want to be around him. He wanted to push her away before things escalated. He told himself he should do this, but could he? Was he capable? He had felt these feelings before, but at the same time, it was different. It was not merely attraction, or lust. There was something else there too. He could not put his finger on it though, and it kept him up later than he would have liked.
The next morning, Jac woke up to Mog's snoring. With a groan, he sat up and rubbed his eyes. Seeing that it was nearly nine in the morning. He would have to get to work in about two hours. He decided to get up and laze about his morning routine, taking his sweet time in the shower. The hot water was soothing to his sore body, though it stung his wound slightly. He dried off and got dressed with a half hour to kill. Just enough time to grab coffee.
Marina Elemento Holy cow! I love Halloween, but I'm sorta glad it's over. I had so much stuff to do to prepare! Back now! How was your Halloween? Mine was amazing!
