Hey guys, what's the signifigance of a prom date? Is it like a person you go dancing with for a night and then that's it? Or are you expected to continue talking with the person afterwards? O_o Nobody realy explained this to me at the time and now I'm curious.

Depends on the type of prom date. Mine was just an escort. I could have ignored him after that, but he was already a friend so our relationship didn't really change. Of course it helped that I had black mail on him...

You don't have to talk to them afterwards. I mean, if it was just to have a physical person to go along with you so that A.) You were allowed in or B.) because your insecurity rang and said that you'd look like a loser if you didn't have a date with you, then no. If this scenario was the situation for the person who asked you, then no.

If a friend asks you, then you continue to be friends, prom literally means nothing.

If you went on a two person date before prom, then it was technically a date and you should either express your interest or lack there of for the person. If it was in a group, it was a hang out session and should be thought of as such.

I went to prom with my friend Junior Year, and then I went with a group of girls this year. They were all fun, mostly because I didn't have to commit to dancing with one person the whole time.

well at least they're honest. On my grade 9 prom I arrived alone. Didn't care for the whole event; so much so that I never showed up to my grade 12 prom at all.

At my school, Prom was only for 11th and 12th unless you were accompanied by someone in 11th or 12th from the same school...

Yeah, it's a bit more complicated than one would think... Mostly because girls think on feelings more than they should. Guys are pretty chill, but some girls will investigate to see what an action means.

I'm not a big partier. I like hanging around people, but I found the grinding distasteful.

well At our school, they had a junior year prom like thing in the middle of the year, and a senior prom at the end. I was actually wondering because I noticed a friend of mines prom pictures and ondered if the guy in it was her date, and what it meant. Btw I wasnt being creepy sweatdrop

Lol, I had hoped not. I'm not exactly the best at realizing what's socially acceptable.
Oh, it was kinda funny too, there was a pic of her in a fighting pose like she was about to attack her date, and underneath she had commented on how hard it was to fight in dress clothes XD

And I could imagine it's hard to fight in dress clothes. I mean, how are you supposed to kick higher than your knee in a dress? Not to mention you have to balance your weight 3-5 inches differently than normal depending on the shoes you wear.
