It's really not XD It's a legit novel, with a sequel and a sequel of that sequel.
It's terrible too. Haven't dared read it personally but I follow someone who liveblogs her attempts at reading it sometimes. While making fun of it lol. It's really quite terrible.

I know it's a real book. o.O I saw the whole series being sold at Costco.

It's just... popular enough that you'd think there would be a page by now. TV Tropes doesn't have everything, true, but it has a lot of the more well-known stuff.
