[Ha! lvl 8 uber genius! blaugh I pwn all! xd ]
"The trip is fairly inexpensive really, sinse so many people use it to travel westward," Vence explained, shrugging as they continued to walk. If he wasn't mistaken, a few more buildings and they would pull out to the Northern gates, and then the river would be up ahead not long afterwards.

Mayloo twirled around alittle. "But walking is free." She pounced Vence gently and layed her head on his shoulder while hugging. "This will be a nice trip thanks to you." Pulling away alittle, her arms were still wrapped around the back of his neck.
"If it weren't for you then my attempted runaway would fail so fast. That and..." Stopping herself and simply smiling, she gave a shrug. "..I won't be so lonely"

[I take offense to that statement. stare Nah, just kidding. whee ]
Vence nodded silently, smiling all the while. He had almost forgotten that was half the purpose of this. She was trying to get away from her old life and start a new one. As for the other half...well, that was for his own intentions. Whatever.
"Well, now that you've been "kidnapped," so to speak, won't anyone come looking for you?" Vence asked, the question coming to mind. Not that he was concerned...ok a little bit, but not much. He just didn't want to have anyone coming after him.

Mayloo hadn't even released him yet, but she put on a face of mock fear. "Kidnapped? B-but it was by my own choice" Then her expression couldn't help but break down into a smile. "I don't really know...my parents would probably send some soldiers out in search. They sure as heck wouldn't be nice. Maybe if I just wore a diguise"
With one last hug, she finally let him go and kept walking on in a slow pace, each hand behind her back. "I don't want to get you in trouble or anything"

"Soldiers? Oh, then I have nothing to worry about," Vence said, starting to laugh. "Soldiers...yeah, they suck. Except for the higher ups. They could be problematic..." Vence shrugged, not really concerned with the matter at all now. Besides, Sraeal was a long way off, especially from Bankridge. Almost opposite ends of the map. If they did get anyone sent after them, it would be a while until anyone caught up.
"Don't worry about trouble. Or diguises; save those for later," Vence commented, for a brief moment considering the humor in that.

"Wha? No problems...they're scary sometimes." She hugged his arm close while walking along. As if thinking the same thing, she couldn't help but comment. "I did leave Srareal way behind didn't I? Hm..feels nice" The boat ride away for sounding better and better.

"You think so?" Vence asked, glancing at Mayloo, while smiling. She certainly had a different perspective than what he had when he left home. Then again, he didn't have any guidance; he had been alone. Would he have felt the same if he had had a companion?
Who knows, but the gods, he thought to himself, tossing the memories and questions aside. Now was what mattered.

(( rofl wow, sorry bout the last post. lol ))
Mayloo nodded but continued to cling, which, she could only hope it wasn't a bad thing.
For a change of Topic, she asked. "So how far is the boat anyways? It'd really calm me down" Only once before had she been on a boat surprisingly, otherwise, she'd just take horse and carriage. It was like her father secretely loved to tease the animals by making them drag everyone along.

"Well, we should see the river when we leave the city, so not that far. A few miles," Vence replied, answering her question.
"So, we leave the city...in a few minutes. We turn here," Vence said, pointing over to the right, where a gap between two buildings lay. If he wasn't mistaken, they would be only a few buildings away from the north gates...

"A few miles not that far? It takes atleast 10 minutes or so to run a mile alone, so walking would be longer." Then again he could've just been estimating, time could go faster then expected.
Following to where his hand indicated, she saw an alley pretty much. "There? Wouldn't we be on the main street again?"

"Ten minutes that means six miles in an hour. Running would get us there faster," Vence added. Of course, running six miles would not be of anyone's interess. Besides, the river was five miles away, not six.
"And yes, that would lead us to a main street. How else would we leave Altyrys?" Ok, wrong question to ask, but the only proper way out would be through the gates.
Slipping through the alley, he made it through with little effort. He was surprised to see a large group of people at the gates... and was not happy when he saw why.
"Damn...the gates are closed," Vence said. He already knew why. No doubt the high council figured the person or people that killed the royal family were still in Altyrys, and hoped to keep him, her, or them in until caught. But to act so quickly...it was unlike the council.
[Ha ha, no way out now! twisted or is there? ninja ]

"Ok, so a nice stroll under an hour...not bad I must say." Just to joke around, she began following him from behind with her hands on his shoulders. "Well I mean, not bad for you I suppose" Mayloo added in for a more of a tease.
"I'll atleast leave the city, like a proper lady" Her nose was held high in the air for a moment to act like what most would expect of such 'proper' people to do.
Her joking expression feel into a frown when Vence had explained what the gathering was for. "Closed huh? That's kinda rude for us expectant travelers" Looking around, she had to question. "Is there anyway we can get to a wall around a few trees prehaps?" Her hand were clenching in and out for she had an idea
((I will conquer!!))

"Heh, not here, that's for sure," Vence said, glancing around. Not a tree in sight. Or even brush for that matter. A few potted plants dotted the edges of the road, from shops and homes, but that was all.
Vence was growing more and more uncomfortable with the situation. Something wasn't right. Thinking fast, he looked back down the alley, then up to the building's roof, then to the wall. He smiled.
"You know, it's a shame. To think such a grand city had such poor defence," he said. He had noticed one detail that most passed off as nothing: the buildings were taller than the walls.
"C'mon," he said, taking Mayloo's hand before slipping back into the alley. "I might need your help. Smoke is not something I want people to see, so I can't use my fire. No one will notice you though, unless you make a big racket about it," he explained, grinning at the last part. It would be ironic. By attempting to keep an unknown killer, or killers, inside, they would be mistaken for them if they were spotted leaving.
Life is full of strange things.
[funny, now you mention the word conquer. whee good word... (foreshadowing) ....ha, nice pun there, too, fore'shadow'ing. xp ]

Mayloo snapped her fingers in defeat. The trees and plants would've helped her make a few climbing vines, but then again, the top of the fence would be fun to try and avoid. Vence seemed to have an idea though.
While standing besides the wall out of site, she couldn't help but fidget alittle. "My help?" She wouldn't make any big racket at all, and it was a guess the potted plants would suffice, maybe.
Pointing upwards towards the roof, she indicated the climbing to make sure that he was ok with it. "Well I'll try my best" And with that, a few vines started inching from the pots. Most of them were scrawny due to their source, but that was taken care of while some of them twisted together to make a thicker whole.
It was a strange sight really, seeing the snaking vines begin to slither up the side of the building. "Hm..." When she no longer knew what to do, the vines fell upon the ground. "There's nothing to attach them to"
((xD your funny))

[Am I? neutral I am? I never noticed. whee ]
"Well, you did give it a shot on your own," Vence said, glancing up at the roof. The best thing for the vines to attach to were the gutters, and those didn't exactly count.
"I have an idea though. Care to know?" He asked, smiling to Mayloo. He turned down the alley back to where they had just been. He checked both sides, checking to make sure no one was in sight. As it were, no one was present, much to his favor. He turned 'round and beckoned her over.
"I just have one question before we try this, since it requires some slight more skill than growing potted vines," he said, thowing in some humor. How much effort would it take to grow a small tree about the height of this building?" Vence asked, pointing up. He imagined it would probably take a lot. If it couldn't be done, he could understand, and he would have to revert to travelling his way. Of course, that meant being found out.
Let's just hope this is possible.
