Kanti smiled back at him and laid her head on his side and sighed again, happily. “I’m not afraid anymore,” she said softly.

"Because there's nothing to be afraid of, not when I'm around." He said resting his head on her side.

Kanti wagged her tail and gently licked the top of Sanoskue’s head. “Go back to sleep Sanoskue,” she said gently. “It’ll be morning soon. Then we can go hunting.”

"Just so long as you get some sleep yourself." He said closing his eyes and falling fast asleep.

Kanti smiled softly at Sanoskue’s sleeping form, chuckling to herself when he began to snore lightly. With a content sigh she snuggled against his warm side and fell asleep quickly.

Sanoskue woke up a few hours later, feeling well rested despite the lack of food. He gently shook Kanti awake, "Hey, come on, lets go hunting."

“Hmm? What?” Kanti said, sleepily raising her head and blinking sleep from her eyes. She smiled when her eyes focused on Sanoskue. “Oh, good morning!” she said brightly. She carefully stood and stretched, her legs a little stiff and sore, but not really hurting. “I’m hungry,” she said before turning and crawling out of the den.

Sanoskue chuckled to himself and followed her, sitting next to her outside the den. He scented the air and was pleased to see that there was prey around, which ment the bear was gone and that they would eat today.

Kanti rested her head against Sanoskue for a moment with a happy sigh. Then suddenly she sat up, her ears pricked forward and eyes bright. “Smell that?” she asked quietly. Cautiously she crept forward, sliding through the snow on her belly. Then without warning she leapt and sent up a spray of snow. She reappeared a moment later, a lifeless rabbit clutched in her jaws. “I got it!” she cried triumphantly, muffled due to the rabbit in her mouth.

Sanoskue smiled, "Good job, now how about I get us something bigger?" He asked heading off towards the woods

“Okay.” As soon as he was turned around Kanti dropped the rabbit and stuck her tongue out at him jokingly.

Sanoskue scented the air and quickly began tracking down a doe.

Of course Sanoskue was completely unaware and he went off on his way, leaving Kanti alone. Stretching carefully, she noticed that her legs felt surprisingly good; leaping after the rabbit hadn’t seemed to hurt her at all. If anything it had loosened up the muscles. The urge to run nearly overwhelmed her, but she was cautious at first, following the river a few hundred yards in each direction at a brisk walk. Still, there was no pain. Excited now she broke into a run. And as the wind rushed through her fur, she realized that she really was okay now, and would be able to regain her old speed. Joyfully she turned toward the woods and sprinted to catch up with Sanoskue.

Sanoskue was crawling foreward, the doe in sight. He felt good, he felt like he could take it down no problem, what he didn't feel was the wind suddenly changing direction and blowing his scent toward the doe who immediatly paniced and ran off, unknown to both of them, in the direction Kanti was coming from.

As Kanti loped easily through the forest the wind changed and now she could scent Sanoskue up ahead, and the deer he was hunting. Then to her surprise she heard the deer crashing through the snow and branches, clearly panicked. Hardly thinking about what she was doing, Kanti leaped off into some low bushes and crouched there, waiting. Right as the doe dashed by Kanti sprang out of her hiding place, solidly hitting the doe’s side and knocking it over. Before the stunned creature could get up Kanti pounced on it and quickly ended its life.
