Kari was dissapointed in his response, his words were slightly venomous but that was all they suggested; because his tone didn't sound like that at all.
She moved on anyways, slipping out of the room and shutting his door quietly behind her to not disturb him.

But as she had said earlier, she was late. Late for another meeting.
They'd been scheduling them almost back to back, in the dead of night. From time to time Kari wondered if Xenmas knew, but how could he? She was cautious, she was smart and she hid her tracks well. To her it seemed almost impossible to be found out.

Kari walked back to her room with Demyx, he was already passed out in his bed, his mouth wide open while a single hand rested on his stomach. The downside about rooming with him was that he snored loudly, for some reason she could just guess this just by looking at him; he just seemed the type. But everyone in the Organization had their own look, the look that you could easily tell that described their personality. But that perked up a question in its own path, since they didn't have hearts did they have personalities? They pretened to at least.
She took off her coat, keeping it around her arm while she snuck back outside of the room. Her original plan was to dump the coat in the room, but if Demyx woke up and saw her without it, it would just be too suspicious.

So she left the mansion, going around it's sides to sneak away and back down to the meeting area where they usually met; Ansem's computer room.
Once again the 'club' stood around like a hoard. When Kari trotted to the room she could barely make out the voices of the committe, only hearing their faint murmurs. This was how they had always done it, even if they met during the day - which was rare. It was done for two reasons, one so that if anyone unexpected came they would probably only hear fragments, or nothing, of their conversation. Two, it was so they could hear them sneak up.
"Hello, hello." Kari sauntered in, being saucy since the atmosphere seemed to fit the situation. Everyone was so serious, why not lighten it up? She didn't like the fact that both places, the Organization and the bourough group, were serious. It was a back-to-back mania of no fun. Even amoung the heartfull they seemed heartless.
"How is everything going?" Kari sighed, the fact that it was only business starting to sink into her head. "It was the same yesterday, and it's the same today." But Leon only shrugged, almost leaning against the computer monitor. "Things change."

And just like that the mood was a bit lighter, calmer, more at ease; but it wasn't any less serious. "We need to come up with a better plan, that's what we were just talking about." Kari joined in, hopping up on the computer system to sit down. "I don't have time to hear it, just storm on in and I'll try to fit in it anyway I can."

"A sloppy plan won't work Kari," Donald quacked, being the smallest of the group he made his voice a bit louder. She sat there stoicly, the meeting was boring, and the topic was always the same. She'd rather fight with Roxas than deal with something so regular, at least he changed it up a bit. "If this is all we're going to talk about then I should go," she let off her own shrug, scratching the side of her head while her brain ache'd for sleep. The candy had worn down, and the sugar crash had started to take a toll.
"Yeah, you look really tired Kari. Are they working you that hard over there?"

She let her hand down onto the computer with a smack, shrugging once again while her head took time to register the question. "It's all recon, they're just collecting information." She hopped down, the cloak had still been draped over her arm and now she had put it back on, becomming slightly dissapointed that the hours had not been more eventfull.
Kari didn't even bother saying goodbye, instead she just left the room. Her whole system ache'd for something fun, something unusual.

And she knew the cure.

Going back to the castle didn't take much time, the town and the base were right next to each other - something she knew Xenmas had planned so he could keep an eye on the people.
Kari got back to her room, her hands shoved into her pockets after she had smacked Demyx around a couple of times.
Slowly he woke up, extremely groggy from his precious child-like sleep. "Ugh, what?" She watched as he sat up, holding onto his head while both of his eyes were squinted shut to dissapate the light from the bulbs.
If there wasn't any fun to be seen, why not make some? Why not stirr something up?

The sun was just barely rising, dawn approaching at its own groggy pace.
"Let's date."

Demyx opened one eye, then both, his hand stopped rubbing the back of his head and he looked at her, spine still slouched but up just a bit straighter. "What?"
"I'll be your girlfriend, or whaterver, ok?"

Meetings. All the time meetings.
If it wasn't a meeting with Sora, then it was one with Xenmas; and each time they asked the same thing. About each other.
The Organization members stood together in a group, a circle of tall people and one short.

One short?

"We have a traitor among us."

Where was the other short one? Where was Roxas?

"Kari, pay attention." Demxy nudged her, making her shoulder inch forward a bit. And when she did begin to focus her eyes were locked with Xenmas.
What did he say? What did he just say?

"Is there something wrong?"
"No, sir."
She stood straighter, and suddenly nothing seemed to matter. Not Demyx, not Roxas, not even Sora. It all fell flat. What would happen if the whole plan was ruined? She couldn't even think beyond, 'what if I was caught?'

"Where is your friend?"

And then gravity some how whisked around her, and her head spinned and the room tilted; normality.
"F-friend?"
"Roxas. Where is he?"

It didn't occur to her that she could be in trouble as well, that maybe Xenmas would think they were in cahoots. They had left and come back - together. At the same time.
"I don't know." Her voice sounded strained, but she was really unsure. He was gone? That's right, thats why she was the only short one in the group.

"You're to find him. All of you. He is to be destroyed. Word of our plans will not get out."

Slowly the group turned away from him, a few seconds after he talked to make sure that he was done speaking. But still she stood there frozen, only thinking about herself. Am I really this selfish?

"Is there something wrong, Kari."

The room stopped flipping, the edges becoming even and finally the world fell back into place.
It wasn't a question, it was some sort of warning. The consequences, she didn't want to know.

"Understood."

And they took off in small groups, using portals to go wherever they could.

So far they had been to two worlds. Agrahbah and Wonderland, both she didn't want to go back to.
"We're done here." They stood in the middle of the small field in wonderland, Kari had whipped her blade in the air and the small heartless had just dissappeared; becomming more of nothing than they already were.

"We haven't even searched the whole place yet."
"And you think we could? We've wound up in the same place three times, I'm done looking." The blade dissappeared from her hand and she let it go, her grip releasing until it was relaxed. And with that she just walked away, down the field and into another hole; but not before she kicked some mushroom harshly.
"She's a keeper, hm?"

Xigabar followed, his weapons hadn't been pulled out; for she had taken care of it.
All day Kari had been laid into a bad mood. The day didn't start out to well, not to mention Demyx had gone out and blabbed about his new founded "relationship". It was funny, but only in an odd way.
"How can you love her if you don't have a heart?"
"Aw, shut up. I do too have a heart, I remember."
It was the discussion that happened earlier today, brains versus child; which was what Demyx was, a child.
His intellect didn't match Karis, in fact it didn't match anyones, he was on his own level entirely.
It wasn't that he was an idiot, because when he needed to prove himself, - he could - it was the fact that he chose games over glory. Games over Kingdom Hearts.

When did I start thinking like this?

Several more round trips, more yelling, more angery fighting and they had found their way back to the opening of the portal. "Come on, open it up. I want to hurry up and get that traitor turned into a Dusk so I can take a nap."
Demyx winced but chuckled, and Xigabar led the way. Once again they were going to go straight to another world.

The portal opened and closed once again, and Kari's small agitated state became more and more irritable; especially since her "boyfriend" was making it worse.
"Where are we?"

The portal had opened up somewhere where she had never seen. Sandy beaches that coincided with the water, their colors splashing together to make a subdued hue.
"Uh, I don't know. Xiga...bar?"

Kari and Demyx had stepped out of the portal, facing forward toward the island; the side that wasn't sand and water.
But when he turned around he didn't see anybody, it was just them two. "Where'd he go?" Demyx had turned around a bit, his waist twisting while he looked back and watched the dissappearing portal.
"Who cares?" Kari crossed her arms, walking forward and feeling her feet sink into the sands depths. "Let's just get this over with."

Demyx had shrugged it off, letting his hand fall from his head and down to his side, trotting forward after her.

"Should we split up? We'll cover more ground."
"Whaaat? You don't want to stick together Kari?"
The side of her mouth slacked while she sighed, but he only snickered a bit. "Fine, fine. We'll split up and look for him."
"Alright, let's hurry it up. I want to get this mission over with so we can go back."


They split up, climbing around the island and it's wooden structures.
Kari stood up after she climbed a ladder, huffing against the wooden planks. "I hate this place." She wiped her forehead standing up and getting irritated at the fact that they couldn't find him yet. Not just on the island but anywhere. "Roxas! Come on!"
She frowned, turning the corner on one of the catwalks and walking around. Hopefully calling out his name would bring him out.
