Rust opened the door for Estelle, and followed her out. They made their way to the rec room, and there they were. Bongo, two of the three adults, one woman and one man, and the teenagers. It was quite the party. Bongo turned to them, nodding. He walked over to them and handed each of them a bow and a quiver of arrows. "We are heading out now." He told them and the rest of the group. But first, an introduction. Line up." The party lined up, oldest to youngest. The male adult was first. "This is Garrett. He's our best hunter. This is Marie, She's our fasted runner, this is Jamie, Mischief, Jess, and Snowball.

Bongo came to the next member, but the look on his face said she was not supposed to be there. "What are you doing here?" He asked the little girl they had seen before at the dinner table.

Estelle walked down the hall and to where the rec room, where everyone seemed to be waiting. It was still kind of awkward, being around these people, but the faces were mostly friendly and now rather welcoming. She saw the little girl and smiled to her again, but the small child, averted her eyes bashfully. As they were introduced, Estelle nodded. "It's nice to meet you all." she said with a friendly smile.

As all eyes fell on the girl, her cheeks turned pink. "I'm s-sorry... I was just hoping to help... I'm good with a bow, ya know." The eight year old seemed pretty confident with herself. She put her little hands on her hips and smiled up at Bongo. This both surprised and intrigued Estelle. She had seemed so shy and softspoken, but she genuinely looked like she wanted to hunt.

Bongo looked down at Kylie, his face firm but not angry. He knelt, "Kylie, you know you're not old enough, When you're ten, you will have your first hunt. It's the same for all of us." He looked around the room, "Hey, how did you manage to slip away from Slingshot?" Bongo asked, impressed. When he was a cub, Bongo could never slip away from Slingshot's watchful gaze.

Rust watched, amused by the little girl. Was she a werewolf? Why so young? Were werewolves born as well as turned? How did that work? Was she unfortunate to have been bitten so young? Rust wondered if he would ever know her story. She did not smell like a normal human... That thought scared him. He could smell the difference. it was obvious who in the room was a werewolf and who wasn't but only because of scent. Estelle was the one. He hoped it would stay that way.

Estelle looked at the girl with interest and a bit of pity. After all, she was so small, and she looked so eager to go hunting even though she knew well that she couldn't. Even the thought of being able to hunt when they turned ten years old seemed too early. Though she was glad they established some rules, after all, she was so young.

Kylie looked at the two newcomers who had been watching her, and her embarrassment increased, but she tried not so let it show. Her big round eyes turned back to Bongo. "I know, but... I figured I could be of some help... maybe..." she trailed off, her gaze falling back to the ground. At the mention of Slingshot, her face turned bright red again, but this time she looked guilty rather than embarrassed. She rubbed her head sheepishly. "Well, uhm..." Kylie paused for a moment seemingly in midthought. "I think he's sleeping," she said finally, in all honesty.

Rust watched the cute little conversation. Despite his rough look, Bongo seemed to be really good as a leader.

Bongo raised his eyebrows,
"Guess he's getting a bit old to babysit. We need a new Beta." he eyeballed Estelle. "Hmm... Come here Kylie." Bongo said, taking the little cub's hand gently in his and walking to Estelle. "Estelle, I would like you to come with us on the hunt, at least this once t show you what we do, but I also need this one looked after, and she really wants to come on a hunt. Would you keep an eye on her if we took you both along?"

Estelle followed Bongo's eyes and realized where this was headed. Now she had a responsibility to watch this child, which she would fulfill to the best of her abilities. She didn't have much experience with children, but she did seem to have a natural knack for taking care of people, so she felt happy to do what she could. "Sure," she replied with a smile. Her eyes met the girl's, who was staring up at her with a friendly gaze.

Kylie looked at Bongo and hugged his legs. "Thank you! Thank you thank you thank you!" Estelle giggled as she watched the girl, and then returned the hug that she gave her next. She was glad to be of any help she could, they both were.

Bongo smiled and patted little Kylie on the head. He watched her run to Estelle, then followed, "Now, this is a real hunt. That means you need to be quiet." He put emphasis on the word quiet. He said this to both of them, but he looked at Estelle. Kylie had been taught from nearly birth that stealth was their best asset when in human form, and the little sneak had more than proven herself by sneaking away from Slingshot.

Rust watched all of this, impressed with Bongo's level-headedness with such a young and insistent child. it seemed like a good plan, putting Estelle and Kylie together. Rust only hoped he prefored up to standard with the rest of the pack. Something inside his, perhaps the beast, told him he would be a natural.

"Alright pack, let's move." He motioned for the group to follow and walked out the front doors.

Estelle nodded, showing that she understood perfectly. When it came to sneaking around, she wasn't half bad at it either. After all, how else would she have been able to sneak out of the house at early hours of the morning, even without the maids noticing? As Kylie was raised to be stealthy, Estelle was raised to be graceful and light on her toes. This gave them both a steady advantage, she thought to herself with a pleased smile. She held onto Kylie's hand as they followed the group out. Though Kylie had some idea of what to expect, she looked up at her new friend to see that Estelle was a bit unsure of herself. The confidence that had been there moments ago was now dissolving. In a reassuring way, Kylie squeezed Estelle's hand and flashed her a kind smile.
Estelle looked down and returned the smile, without saying a word. Somehow, they just understood each other.

The sun was well past set, and the moon was bright in the sky, it's full phases over for the month. Bongo led the group through the streets and out of the city. He explained as he went, "Whenever we hint, we always take a different trail to and from the Den to the Hunting Grounds. This way, if ever we are sought put to be destroyed, it will be hard to fins out escape routes and hiding places. We are also working on creating multiple exits and entrances, so if out Den if found, we can have a better chance of fleeing."

"Perhaps we should also utilize the basements and connect them to other buildings." Rust put in, thinking about the stranger who had nearly found them at his apartment. "It would be easy to escape from another building they wouldn't know to watch."

Bongo raised his eyebrows, thinking about this, then smiled at Rust, "Well at least you've got brains. If you turn out to be a good hunter, you just might turn out to be a better addition to this pack than I thought. And with our new Beta here," He nodded to Estelle, "The two of you should fall into pace pretty quickly."

Estelle listened contently to the plans and explanations he had. It seemed to make perfect sense to her. At Rust's add-on suggestion and Bongo's approval, her face lit up. They had only been with this pack for a few hours, and already she felt like she was starting to fit in. She hadn't felt that way for quite some time, especially not about her own family. It felt good to be part of something, to be of any help she could be. To her surprise, she was enjoying her stay with them so far, much more than she expected. "That's good to hear," she replied with a smile.

Kylie clung to Estelle and smiled happily. She looked at Bongo with huge, curious eyes. "Bongo, will they be staying with us forever?" It was a bold question, but she really wanted to know. Estelle looked from Kylie to Bongo, nibbling her lip in thought. Perhaps it wouldn't be bad to stay, but not necessarily forever. Some of the others in the pack glanced back at them.

Bongo did not stop his pace when Kylie asked her question, but he paused a while in thought. He looked at the two, remembering their deal. "Well, I guess we will have to see. They might have their own clan they need to get back to sometime. But for now they are part of us." He hoped that was enough to satisfy the pup's never ending curiosity.

Rust watched the ground, now feeling guilty for being introduced and accepted into the pack, only to leave when they finished their end of the bargain. He shook it out of his head and remained alert, wanting to be on par with the rest of the pack.

Bongo stopped the pack two miles down the road outside of the city. He went to the three trainees.
"Got your bows?" He handed Kylie on of the teenager's bows. "To use it, you pull an arrow out of your quiver and place it like this." He pulled his arrow out, holding the feathered end with his thumb, forefinger and middle finger. "Draw back like this," He pinched the bowstring with his thumb, "Make sure the wood of the bow is resting in the crook of your thumb, between your thumb and forefinger, you know, in the webbing area. You don't have to grip hard, just enough to keep the bow steady and in your hand when you fire. Bring the arrow back, you arm strait out at shoulder height. Bring the arrow back to about your ear, and keep your other arm strait. You want to kind of look down the arrow, and depending on the distance, aim slightly above where you want to hit. The judgement will have to come from your perspective." He demonstrated, sending an arrow zooming into a tree trunk. "When you let go of the string, let it roll off of your fingers, don't just snap it. Roll it. The arrow will fly smoother. Try to hit near my arrow. One at a time. Kylie, Estelle, then Rust."

Kylie was practically bouncing up and down with joy when she received the bow. She had been looking forward to this moment for a long time now, and to be allowed to hunt with the pack two years before she was supposed to, well, she was very lucky and very grateful. She stopped her excited bouncing, however, as Bongo began explaining. She nodded her head profusely, showing she completely understood. Ever since she could remember, she'd always wanted to try her hand at a bit of archery. She looked up at the arrow Bongo had shot, then raised her bow and did exactly as he had told them, holding the bow back. She quivered a bit due to her lack of upper body strength, but remained rather grounded. When she found the perfect moment, she took it, and let the string roll off her fingers. The arrow zipped upward slightly, and hit about a foot below Bongo's arrow.
Kylie grinned, hopping up and down on her toes with excitement, then stood back to watch Estelle.

Estelle walked forward to where Kylie had been standing. She was slower at each step than Kylie had been, for she wasn't very used to the whole idea of weapons and whatnot. She took her stance, drew back the arrow and lifted it up properly. So far, so good, she thought with a smile, though the feeling of everyone's eyes on her made her a bit nervous. Quickly, she let her fingers roll from the string and the bow zipped toward the tree, wobbling slightly as it flew through the air. It missed the tree, but by barely anything, as it made a small scratch in the bark and zipped somewhere behind it.
Estelle turned to look at Bongo, blood rushing to her face. It wasn't too bad of a shot, but it wasn't good either. She hoped she would get better in time. "Oops," she said quietly, keeping her eyes on the ground as she moved out of the way for Rust to try.

Bongo watched Kylie and Estelle's performances, nodding in approval at Kylie's and nodding his head off to the side at Estelle's. Kylie had the beast blood in her, and that gave her an advantage. Bongo had to remember that human's perception was not as strong. "Not bad. It's both of your first time. Just need to practice."

Rust stepped up, following the steps as Bongo had showed them. He remembered back in England, before his family had moved to the states, his father took him hunting once. Rust had been far too young, but he remembered the tip his father gave him

. "Kaine, when you shoot, you want to remember to breathe. Breathe in," His father took a solid and slow breath, drawing his bow, "Breathe out." He exhaled, and near the end of the exhale, he shot.

The arrow zoomed through the air, a whistling noise following it. It his the tree with a thunk, right in between Bongo's and Kylie's, and off somewhat to the left. Rust lowered his bow, staring at the tree. Bongo nodded, proud of his pack. Rust seemed to have it down, as did Kylie. Estelle had the form right, she just needed to work on aim.

"All right," He took the bow from Kylie, "Next time we hunt, you will have your own bow." He handed it back to the teenager, looking back at Kylie and Estelle. "We are going to hunt now, but you two should stay a few yards behind us, to keep the prey from hearing us, and to keep you safe from straying arrows, or a frenzied target." He turned to the rest of the pack and motioned them to begin the hunt. They fanned out, but were in constant eye contact with each other. Rust stuck as close to Estelle as he could.

Estelle nodded. Practice makes perfect, she thought with a firm nod. She watched Rust prepare to shoot, and he was rather good at it. Better than her of course, as she expected. The werewolves had the advantage of hunting instincts, she imagined. She could see the focus in his eyes, just another admirable trait he possessed. Estelle smiled when the arrow hit the tree.

Kylie returned the bow with a polite little nod. "Yes, sir!" she said with a giggle, saluting him like he was a captain. She and Estelle fell back away from the crowd as they began the hunt, and though they weren't doing much but observing, they kept absolutely quiet and alert of their surroundings. Estelle wondered what kind of animals they would be hunting as they continued walking at a fairly slow pace.

The woods seemed empty to Rust at first, all life absent. He looked across at Bongo, watching his movements. Bongo stared at the ground, head inclined and turning this way and that, as if hearing something. Rust tried the same thing. He looked down, seeing the leaves and grass under his feet. He listened, carefully. Nothing. He looked at Bongo again, seeing him turn his head. Rust turned his, listening in a different direction. He heard something! He looked back at Bongo, but he was gone.
Whoa! I didn't even hear him move. Rust looked around and spotted a shadow dodge around a tree. he followed, trying to be as quiet as possible. He could hear the noise he was making and he stopped. Shoes! That's what was making the noise. He remembered seeing Bongo without shoes, and looked around at the other hunters. Any he could see were barefoot. Rust braced himself on a tree and pulled his shoes off, placing them at the roots.

He took off again, pleased with the amount of noise he had left behind with his shoes. He came to a clearing and a hand shot out and grabbed his shirt. Rust almost yelped, but a hand flew over his mouth. Bongo looked at him, making the shh signal with his other hand and let Rust go. He pointed to a form in the clearing. It was a doe. laying in the grass, her ears twitching all over the place. They waited, and waited. When the doe lowered her head, the whistle of an arrow sounded, and before the deer could get completely to her feet, there was an arrow right behind her shoulder, sticking into the rib cage. She let out a gurgled bleat and fell onto her other side, kicking in pain and panic. Bongo ran over and ended her misery, then pulled the arrow out and inspected the meat.
"Nice shot! Clean." He looked at the arrow then at the youngest teenager, Snowball. "Good job, you get first pick tonight. Let's head back." The young boy smiled proudly. "That also means you get to carry it." Bongo reminded the youngster. His face fell and he went to get the doe.
