Core brought his claw through the barrier and it met with the explosive energy in Leonard's skin. He cried out and fell to the ground in the middle of the circle, hugging his charred hand and crying, "STAY BACK!!!" He yelled, probably to Chiasa.

Chiasa screamed out with Core. She gripped Gab as tight as she dared and ran in between Core and his assailant, only thinking about how she was going to protect Core and Gab in this. She was vulnerable to attack as she skidded to a stop to block Core.

Leonard was still grinning when Core yelled, then froze, thinking. he didnt leave himself open though, as he brought another barrier up, this time both his energy, and his barrier powers. every time he fought, it was a mindless thing, fighting just because he was ordered to. one thing confused him though, as he thought about it. why WAS he fighting them? Rick was gone, that much was sure, and yet these people kept fighting. they didnt fight for power, did they? no... they wouldnt care what happened to the others then, if that was it... no... they fought... why did they fight?

"Why?" Leonard asked, from where he stood, holding a hand out, aiming it at Core's charred hand.

"Stay back Chiasa..." Core said, "Don't do this..." He bit his lip until he tasted blood, "Please Chiasa...I love you..." He looked down at the bloodied ground and tears fell from his face, "...Don't leave me..."

"Leave him alone!" Chiasa cried, getting a barrier up around her, Core, and Gab, once she had gotten her footing. She was hunched around Gab a bit, and trembling. Obviously scared, but she was also steadfast. She wasn't going to stand back and watch.

Leonard scowled, and stepped out of his own barriers, stepping into the ether, then out again, inside he barrier, kneeling beside Core. he said nothing, thinking. they had said that word... love... he heard it so much when he fought people... he had heard it made people weak... yet... they kept coming. was that weakness? reaching out, he gripped Core's hand, and held it where he could see it, speaking a few words of magic... but not to kill. instead, he spoke words of healing magic, to repair Core's hand, still not explaining the sudden change.

Gab whimpered, "No more... I don't want to loose any one else... I already lost Lin..."

Chiasa saw Leonard disappear and then turned to see him next to Core. She had no idea what he was doing, so she dropped Gab and lunged at him. She needed to keep Core safe, that was her primary objective. "Leave him alone!" she cried again, trying to knock Leonard to the ground.

Core cried out and tried to get away. He brought his free hand up in a fist to pound the crap out of Leonard, but then he stopped. He was confused. What was this guy doing exactly?

Leonard never got a chance to say anything as Chiasa tackled him. going down, Leonard rolled, landing on his feet, away from her, before standing straight, drawing his panels in. She was terrified of him, that was sure, if her shaking before was any indication, so why did she not hesitate to attack? was it love again? curiosity, and an unknown feeling ran through him, and he held his hands up, in a submissive way, as if to say he didnt do anything.

Core reached out and gripped Chiasa's hand, "Stop...Please..." He pleaded.

Chiasa crawled in between him and Core again. "Don't come closer," she said, trying to sound strong and intimidating, but she couldn't quite do it.

Leonard shrugged, and didnt come any closer. he didnt move to leave though. he looked core in the eye, and asked. "Why.", the meaning more than clear of what he was askign to core.

Gab stood, shaking, as he watched what was going on. He didn't have the will power to walk over to them. Eventually he dropped down, laying himself out as flat as he could. quivering.

"I don't understand..." Core said. There was so many things he could be asking 'why' about, "I love Chiasa...Don't you dare hurt her..." He said.
