Actually Free Running comes from Pakour, which has it's roots in obstacle course training from over 50 years ago. Well before Jackie Chan did his career. Besides, Jackie Chan doesn't do much in the way of dangerous stunts anymore. These guys do professional and dangerous stunts, WITHOUT ANY SAFETIES. They do this stuff over once a week for over half an hour straight...

Ok watch Tony Jaa's films, he leaps over a 4x4 wiht out any trampets, he does some awesom stunts and fighting scenes too Besides why do something like that anyway? they are good but still it just seems ponitless

Well for pakour it's about getting from point A to point B as quickly as possible. It's also about escaping capture from enemies. I mean if you were ever getting chased YOU would love to know Pakour so you could do crazy s**t at high speeds to evade them...
Free Running is different, because it focuses on Pakour as more of an art form. It takes Pakour and focuses less on efficient moving of point A to point B, but instead is concerned more about aesthetic beauty. Think of it like manly urban extreme gymnastics or something.... sweatdrop

Besides you can't tell me they don't look awesome doing that with such grace and style. It takes serious physical AND mental training in order to move like that. It'd be awesome if I could move like them heart

Right! That's part of the training they do with their mind. That's one of the things that seperates the American Free Runners from non-American Free Runners....the Americans still fear pain and/or death, unlike the European or Asian Free Runners. The non-Americans just go at it all full speed, while the Americans do the same moves...just slower and obviously with caution which disrupts the aesthetic value of what they are doing.
