Wait, wait, wait, is Tal legal to be drinking?

I'm Italian and it's wine. If I get caught I can sue them for being discriminate against Italians.

... *though Tall was only in high school* Well... I suppose if your drinking safely at home and with someone who can put you to bed when you've had enough, or drive you to the hospital, it's okay...

They're thinking of upping the legal drinking age to 25, over here.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 08, 2012 4:55 pm
that's really bad, but then again you ARE in Texas, so I can kinda understand their reasoning for changing the age, since alcohol is the devil's drink or something... sweatdrop

We're not all religious nuts down here... stare Ucchan... And I meant the us government was going to raise the drinking age again...

The people in power down there must be, otherwise there'd be lessons about evolution in the schools there(unless of course they changed that). I mean, if evolution's bad, alcohol must be horrible in their eyes right?
Anyways, now that I'm done talking to my bro over the phone, time to get SOUSED!

That's kinda offensive, Ukyo. There are some places and schools that do teach evolution as a theory, but almost all of them do teach and most teach it as the thing that is most readily accepted.
Also, the basis for upping the age is not just religious. I believe it is not even primarily religious, considering there is strong scientific evidence supporting that alcohol is a lot more detrimental and addicting to those who brains have not finished developing (a.k.a those under the age of 25). I don't know if I agree with upping the age, but I can see their point.

People in France can start drinking at 14 or so? And it's not a big problem for them. I guess because the whole 'it's wrong to do this so therefore I must try it and try not to get caught' thinking is absent there. I know the temptation to drink around here goes down drastically once people actually hit the legal age(there are exceptions to everything). Explains why most of us wanted to try drinking until we passed high school, then we didn't care as much for it anymore. It's not taboo if we're legally allowed right?

When the United States brought the drinking age up from 18 to 21 there was a significant drop in alcohol related deaths and drunk driving incidents. There is scientific evidence to support the raise in age because it is much more harmful when you are younger, I don't see how your argument 'these guys do it so it's okay' is anymore swaying than mine. I mean, I know Canadians just kinda go along with what Europe says but really.
