Let me put it this way... if they spam overpowered moves, then it should be fairly easy to figure out what DOES work versus that and deal with it (dodging, counters, whatever). If they don't spam it, then it's not happening often enough to be a problem, and can just be dealt with normally.

Besides, the "Tales of" series is practically a fighting game anyway, just versus monsters. o wo I mean, button inputs, dashing, guards, and so on and so forth.
