I've made an interesting observation recently regarding my surname's coat of arms... and the imagery of two different "houses" in two fandoms I'm part of. I don't know if it's just a coincidence... or if the universe is trying to say something.

The coat of arms for my surname contains three black birds, three golden crescent moons, and the colors are blue and silver. The motto is "Mea gloria fides," translating to "Fidelity is my glory".

The crest for the Ravenclaw house (from Harry Potter) contains an eagle and the colors blue and bronze.

The crest for House Arryn (from Game of Thrones) contains a falcon in front of a white moon on a sky blue field. Their words (motto?) is "As High as Honor".

Anyway... I've decided to create a GoT OC. I know that I want her to be associated with the House Arryn. It's just a matter of narrowing it down to the finer details regarding who she is and where she comes from and what not.

gaia_crown The Vale is ruled by House Arryn from the castle known as the Eyrie. Notable houses of this region include Hunter, Corbray, Redfort, and Royce. Bastards born in the Vale are given the surname Stone.
gaia_crown The Vale is located on the eastern shore of Westeros, a tranquil land of rich black soil, wide slow-moving rivers, and hundreds of small lakes that shine like mirrors in the sun, protected on all sides by its largely impassable mountain range. The Vale tends to be slightly isolated from the rest of Westeros. The Vale's harsh winters make travel only possible through the mountains during warmer years.

Well... the Vale certainly seems to suit what I picture my OC wanting to live in. Now to determine where exactly she would be from and what her surname would be (whether I'll go with a canon one... or make one up).

I think I'm just going to stick with the surname Arryn for my OC. None of the other surnames that are associated with the Main House seem to stand out to me... or give me inspiration.

Arryn (Origin: English) "high mountain, exalted"

I think I'm going to go with the name Evelune. It combines the name Eve "life, animal" and a variation of Luna "moon". Although I only have a brief outline of my OC, I think it'll fit her perfectly. Not to mention it coordinates well with the house banner.
