Oh s**t, nevermind Wayne. Guess you learn something new everyday. =o The Final Fantasy Wiki Its broad hilt sports a swirling motif, and there are two holes on the blade near the hilt, often mistaken for Materia "slots", but are in fact used to attach the sword to a harness on Cloud's back.

Ribbin Waynebrizzle Ribbin Waynebrizzle Let's attach a giant slab of metal to a sword handle. But wait, this might be too plain. Let's randomly put two holes in it. It's perfect now. That's where the materia goes. xD Why are there only two then? There's room for like, fifty. The Buster Sword only has spots for two materia. You fit it on your weapon and your armor. Being the first sword you get (also the worst and most basic, thus being a slab of metal on a hilt) it only can hold 2 materia. IT'S DUMB YOU'RE DUMB

I think the fans liked it more than the creators. >_> The Final Fantasy Wiki Tetsuya Nomura has stated in "The Reunion Files" for Advent Children that he used to refer to the Buster Sword as "the Giant Kitchen Knife" due to how he originally envisioned it.
